Added by magataganm, 28 Sep 2021 Johann Jakob Ammann (1754-1818) was born on February 17, 1754 as the son of Johannes Liberat Ammann and M. Dorothea, née Erne, probably born in Rankweil. His grandfather (of the same name) was born in Schnifis around 1725 and later moved to Rankweil. J.J. Ammann Married the "Musicus" and organist Maria Agatha Aloisia at the age of 31; a marriage that produced 5 boys and 4 Girls. Ammann received music training at a young age in one of the music centers in Vienna or Munich as a composer. Two arias dated 1777 are considered to be youth works by Ammann composed at the age of 23. His later works following a creative period, such as "Salve Regina ex B", "Aria de Beata" or "Quem vidisti pastores “, are fully on the high of the time of the Viennese Classic. Later, Ammann worked as an organist in Rankweil, and participated in the performance; provided with only modest means once he had left the Music centers. The fourth child, Johann Michael Ammann, is known as the founder and first Kapellmeister of the “Turkish field music von Rankweil ”. J.J. Ammann died of one in Rankweil in 1818 at the age of 64 Lung infection. Source: https://cdn3.vol.at/2008/11/Basilika23_November.pdf.
