Commissioned by the Swaledale Festival for a performance by the Royal Holloway Choir and Acoustic Triangle in Richmond North Yorkshire on 26th May 2012.Sir Thomas Brown (1605-1608) always used this his own poem as a 'dormitive' to lull himself to sleep. The composer is grateful to his sister Meg Peacocke for her help in editing the poem.
