Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1012177 Composed by Duncan Krummel. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary. Octavo. 4 pages. Krummel Music Publishing #3629813. Published by Krummel Music Publishing (A0.1012177). When You Are Old is for SSAATTBB. The text, by William Butler Yeats, celebrates the beauty of a long life and the bittersweet nature of nostalgia. The work is appropriate for any concert. Though a simpler work musically, the long phrases and widely spaced harmonies may be a challenge depending on level of the choir. Total run time is between 4-5 minutes. Duncan Krummel is a member of ASCAP. Additional music can be found through his website at www.duncankrummel.com, with recordings hosted on SoundCloud, Bandcamp, and YouTube.

Concert Band - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.998359 Composed by Aaron Fonzi. Christmas,Contemporary,Folk,Standards. Score and parts. 25 pages. Aaron Fonzi #4834971. Published by Aaron Fonzi (A0.998359). This lyrical piece is a delightful way to introduce your young band to ballad style. Exploring slurs, accents, dynamics, caesuras, ritardandos and more, you'll be shocked by how sophisticated this beautiful piece sounds while using only a limited number of notes. Written to convey the playful innocence of a child dreaming, In Your Slumber balances the calm of a starry sky with the imagination and adventure of a child's mind at rest. Simple and elegant, the lullaby played by the flutes in the beginning gives way to an imaginative variation on the theme by the trumpets and clarinets at B. Gentle, pulsating tenutos in the harmonizing chords underneath are symbolic of relaxed, rhythmic breathing underlying the musical thoughts flowing by above them. Just as in dreams we seldom have control of which direction the story may go, D takes us somewhere else musically and implies a build to a false climax. At E, we are greeted with the quiet sounds of the night once more, but this time our imagination runs wild as the music builds to the climax of the piece at F. This powerful proclamation of the melody is concluded with a gentle final statement in the flute and clarinet, and the piece concludes with the final twinkle of the stars as the sun rises for a new day.Full of imagination, beauty and teachable moments throughout, I hope that you and your students can enjoy and appreciate this piece for it's simple beauty as I do. Onward!~Aaron FonziREHEARSAL NOTES:1. The clarinet part should be a very light drone creating atmosphere at the beginning- the same goes for the clarinet and saxophone at rehearsal E.2. It's easy to get too loud too soon in this piece, so remind your students to have patience. F is the climax of the piece, but many young students will want to play C as if it is. Similarly, be sure to balance the trumpet/ clarinet and the flute/ oboe/ bells at C so both lines come out evenly.3. Take your time in measure 48- we want to naturally fade away and pause before going on at rehearsal E. This increase and decrease in energy is a characterization of the ebb and flow of the piece.4. At F, there are 3 important parts that must be balanced: flute/oboe/bells; trumpet/clarinet; alto saxophone/horn. For best results, balance these 3 parts, and encourage the alto/horn line to play out a bit more than they think they need to. They are the new part which must be heard here.5. Have fun and use your imagination in terms of expressing the music- ask your students what it makes them think of and create a story to go along with it. Let this ultimately guide your interpretation. I am consistently impressed with the creative ideas my students come up with, so let them decide how the music should sound with their own stories. In your slumber, anything is possible!

Jazz Combo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1201507 By Christopher Burnett. By Christopher Burnett. Arranged by Christopher Burnett. Contemporary,Film/TV,Jazz. Score and parts. 3 pages. Christopher Burnett #800128. Published by Christopher Burnett (A0.1201507). ORIGINAL MUSIC FOR JAZZ QUARTET This work is from series of 6 related pieces of new music that I have composed and arranged for a new Originals quartet that had its debut on Tuesday March 28 as the final concert of the 2023 season of the long running noontime spring jazz series at the Midwest Trust Center in the Kansas City metropolitan area. The music is written and arranged for a modern jazz quartet. I perform on alto saxophone with the multi-talented William Crain on piano, the master bassist Gerald Spaits, and the brilliant young drummer Morgan Rogers. The mockup audio demos posted are among the first set of compositions written for our group. I actually wrote and arranged all of this music with each of these quartet musicians’ artistry in mind and to record an album. However, I truly welcome other ensembles to perform and program these selections of music too.THIS MUSIC IS BASED UPON THE PHILOSOPHY OF ABUNDANCE (COVEY)Scarcity Mentality is the zero-sum paradigm of life. People with a Scarcity Mentality have a very difficult time sharing recognition and credit, power or profit – even with those who help in the production. They also have a very hard time being genuinely happy for the successes of other people – even, and sometimes especially, members of their own family or close friends and associates. Conversely, Abundance Mentality flows out of a deep inner sense of personal worth and security. It is the paradigm that there is plenty out there and enough to spare for everybody. It results in sharing of prestige, of recognition, of profits, of decision making. It opens possibilities, options, alternatives, and creativity.THE MUSICAL SELECTIONS (F-A-M-I-L-Y)All of these six pieces interact musically as one larger work or they can be performed independently from the collection with equally pleasing effects musically.1. “FINALLY†(Is Never Permanent…) Composed and Arranged By Christopher Burnett (BMI)2. “ALWAYS†(Is Never Giving Up…)Composed and Arranged By Christopher Burnett (BMI)3. “MAYBE†(It Is or Is Not…)Composed and Arranged By Christopher Burnett (BMI)4. “INFINITY†(Is The Reality…)Composed and Arranged By Christopher Burnett (BMI)5. “LATER†(Is Better Than Never…)Composed and Arranged By Christopher Burnett (BMI)6. “YESTERYEARS†(Bring Our Todays…)Composed and Arranged By Christopher Burnett (BMI)Thanks,Christopher Burnett (BMI)musician, composer, educatorhttps://BurnettPublishing.com.

Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1270160 By Arlo Guthrie. By Arlo Guthrie. Arranged by Craig Hanson. A Cappella,Comedy,Folk. Octavo. 6 pages. Edition Craig Hanson #862589. Published by Edition Craig Hanson (A0.1270160). For TTBB chorus a cappella and solo voice. As performed by Arlo Guthrie.Wanna hear something? You know that Indians never ate clams. They didn't have linguini! And so what happened was that clams was allowed to grow unmolested in the coastal waters of America for millions of years. And they got big, and I ain't talking about clams in general, I'm talking about each clam! Individually. I mean each one was a couple of million years old or older. So imagine they could have got bigger than this whole room. And when they get that big, God gives them little feet so that they could walk around easier. And when they get feet, they get dangerous. I'm talking about real dangerous. I ain't talking about sitting under the water waiting for you. I'm talking about coming after you.Imagine being on one of them boats coming over to discover America, like Columbus or something, standing there at night on watch, everyone else is either drunk or asleep. And you're watching for America and the boat's going up and down. And you don't like it anyhow but you gotta stand there and watch, for what? Only he knows, and he ain't watching. You hear the waves lapping against the side of the ship. The moon is going behind the clouds. You hear the pitter patter of little footprints on deck. ‘Is that you kids?’ It ain't! My god! It's this humongous, giant clam!Imagine those little feet coming on deck. A clam twice the size of the ship. Feet first. You're standing there shivering with fear, you grab one of these. This is a belaying pin. They used to have these stuck in the holes all around the ship… You probably didn't know what this is for; you probably had an idea, but you were wrong. They used to have these stuck in the holes all along the sides of the ship, everywhere. You wouldn't know what this is for unless you was that guy that night.I mean, you'd grab this out of the hole, run on over there, bam bam on them little feet! Back into the ocean would go a hurt, but not defeated, humongous, giant clam. Ready to strike again when opportunity was better. You know not even the coastal villages was safe from them big clams. You know them big clams had an inland range of about 15 miles. Think of that. I mean our early pioneers and the settlers built little houses all up and down the coast you know. A little inland and stuff like that and they didn't have houses like we got now, with bathrooms and stuff. They built little privies out back. And late at night, maybe a kid would have to go, and he'd go stomping out there in the moonlight. And all they'd hear for miles around...(loud clap/belch).... One less kid for America. One more smiling, smurking, humongous, giant clam.So Americans built forts. Them forts --you know—them pictures of them forts with the wooden points all around. You probably thought them points was for Indians but that's stupid! 'Cause Indians know about doors. But clams didn't. Even if a clam knew about a door, so what? A clam couldn't fit in a door. I mean, he'd come stomping up to a fort at night, put them feet on them points, jump back crying, tears coming out of them everywhere. But Americans couldn't live in forts forever. You couldn't just build one big fort around America. How would you go to the beach? So what they did was they formed groups of people. I mean they had groups of people all up and down the coast form these little alliances. Like up North it was call the Clamshell Alliance. And farther down South it was called the Catfish Alliance. They had these Alliances all up and down the coast defending themselves against these threatening monsters. These humongous giant clams. Andt hey'd go out there, if there was maybe fifteen of them they'd be singing songs in fifteen part harmony. And when one part disappeared, that's how they knew where the clam would be.Which is why Americans only sing in four part harmony to this very day. That proved to be too dangerous. See, what they did was they'd be singing these songs called Clam Chanties, and they'd have these big spears called clampoons. And they'd be walking up and down the beach and the method they eventually devised where they'd have this guy, the most strongest heavy duty true blue American, courageous type dude they could find and they'd have him out there walking up and down the beach by himself with other chicken dudes hiding behind the sand dunes somewhere. He'd be singing the verses. They'd be singing the chorus, and clams would hear 'em. And clams hate music. So clams would come out of the water and they'd come after this one guy. And all you'd see pretty soon was flying all over the sand flying up and down the beach manmanclamclammanmanclam manclamclamman up and down the beach going this way and that way up the hills in the water out of the water behind the trees everywhere. Finally the man would jump over a big sand dune, roll over the side, the clam would come over the dune, fall in the hole and fourteen guys would come out there and stab the shit out of him with their clampoons. That's the way it was. That was one way to deal with them. The other way was to weld two clams together. [I don't believe it. I'm losing it. Hey. What can you do. Another night shot to hell.] Hey, this was serious back then. This was very serious. I mean these songs now are just piddly folk songs. But back then these songs were controversial. These was radical, almost revolutionary songs. Because times was different and clams was a threat to America. That's right. So we want to sing this song tonight about the one last... You see what they did was there was one man, he was one of these men, his name will always be remembered, his name was Reuben Clamzo, and he was one of the last great clam men there ever was. He stuck the last clam stab. The last clampoon into the last clam that was ever seen on this continent. Knowing he would be out of work in an hour. He did it anyway so that you and me could go to the beach in relative safety. That's right. Made America safe for the likes of you and me. And so we sing this song in his memory. He went into whaling like most of them guys did and he got out of that, when he died. You know, clams was much more dangerous than whales. Clams can run in the water, on the water or on the ground, and they are so big sometimes that they can jump and they can spread their kinda shells and kinda almost fly like one of them flying squirrels. You could be standing there thinking that your perfectly safe and all of a sudden whop.... That's true... And so this is the song of this guy by the name of Reuben Clamzo and the song takes place right after he stabbed this clam and the clam was, going through this kinda death dance over on the side somewhere. The song starts there and he goes into whaling and takes you through the next...I sing the part of the guy on the beach by himself. I go like this: Poor old Reuben Clamzo and you go Clamzo Boys Clamzo. That's the part of the fourteen chicken dudes over on the other side. That's what they used to sing. They'd be calling these clams out of the water. Like taunting them making fun of them. Clams would get real mad and come out. Here we go. I want you to sing it in case you ever have an occasion to join such an alliance. You know some of these alliances are still around. Still defending America against things like them clams. If you ever wants to join one, now you have some historic background. So you know where these guys are coming from. It's not just some 60's movement or something, these things go back a long time.Notice the distinction you're going to have to make now between the first and easy Clamzo Boys Clamzo and the more complicated Clamzo Me Boys Clamzo. Stay serious! Folk songs are serious. That's what Pete Seeger told me. Arlo I only want to tell you one thing... Folk songs are serious. I said right. Let's do it in C for Clam...Iet's do it in B... For boy that's a big clam... Iet' s do it in G for Gee, I hope that big clam don't see me. Let's do it in F... For …he sees me. Let's do it back in A...for a clam is coming. Better get this song done quick. The Story of Reuben Clamzo and His Strange Daughter in the Key of A.

Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1205281 By Keith Terrett. By Various. Arranged by Keith Terrett. Historic,March,Multicultural,Patriotic,Traditional,World. 109 pages. Keith Terrett #803468. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1205281). A new arrangement of music  especially for ’’National Day’’ in Norway, which falls on the 17th of May each year.Bands all over the land march around their towns and villages, in celebration of Norway’s independence from Sweden. The little set consists of ’’Ja vi elsker’’, ’’Fagert er landet’’, ’’Gud signe vårt dyre fedreland’,’’Smaa barnas nasjonalsang’’, ’’Kongsesangen’’, an original march entitled ’’17 mai (Constitution marsj)’’, and a small compilation of three marches which include,’'Alle fugler'', ’’Gammel Jegermarsj’’ and ’’Mellom bakkar og berg’’ by Lindeman; and finally Norge i rødt, hvitt og blått  (Norway in red, white and blue). These arrangements will work very well with just four players.  As long as you cover all four parts, you are guaranteed a very rich and full-sounding arrangement. If you have some percussion players to augment your group, it will sound even better. This arrangement comes with parts for flexible band.If you are interested in other music for brass, have a look at my Norwegian publisher’s web site, for my set of ’’7 Julesangs’’, for Brass Quartet, Flexible Band and Piano:www.musikk-huset.noThe Norwegian Constitution Day is the National Day of Norway and is an official national holiday each year. Among Norwegians, the day is referred to simply as syttende mai (meaning May Seventeenth), Nasjonaldagen (The National Day) or Grunnlovsdagen (The Constitution Day), although the latter is less frequent. If you require other parts, e-mail me your requirements, and I will up-load parts to my Sibelius store within 24hrs: keithterrett@gmail,com.

Small Ensemble Bouzouki,Guitar,Harpsichord,Mandolin,Violin - Digital Download SKU: A0.1017678 Composed by Anonymous. Arranged by Gordon Jackson. Baroque,Celtic,Classical,Folk,Irish,Multicultural,World. Score and parts. 4 pages. Gordon Jackson #6436745. Published by Gordon Jackson (A0.1017678). Staines MorrisThe song, Staines Morris, is very well known by singers of traditional songs. It’s a 17th century song. It’s a 19th century song. Actually, it’s both! The lyrics were certainly published, and probably written, by Robert Cox for his play Actaeon and Diana, published in 1656. The tune was first published in John Playford’s The English Dancing Master in 1651. There is no evidence that, in the 17th century, the lyrics were sung to this melody. That didn’t happen for two hundred years, when William Chappell put the two together for his Popular Music of the Olden Time, vol. 1 (1859). I have added chords to the melody. Whilst humming the tune to myself, I found myself moving into 6/8 time, and that inspired me to compose a galliard based on it, complete with ‘divisions’ (runs of semiquavers or 32nd notes) and counterpoint. The song melody and the galliard can be played separately or as parts of one piece, perhaps with the galliard played between two of the verses. I put the galliard in A minor, to provide a contrast with the D minor song melody, but play them in whatever key takes your fancy. I have also added below the lyrics, as most often sung today.Come ye young men, come alongWith your music, dance and songBring your lasses in your handsFor ’tis that which love commands Then to the Maypole haste away For ’tis now our holidayIt is the choice time of the yearFor the violets now appearNow the rose receives its birthAnd the pretty primrose decks the earthAnd when you well reckoned haveWhat kisses you your sweetheart gaveTake them all again, and moreIt will never make them poorWhen you thus have spent your timeAnd the day be past its primeTo your beds repair at nightAnd dream there of your day’s delight

Choral Choir (Unison) - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.781324 Composed by Joanna Mills. Broadway,Children,Christmas,Holiday,Musical/Show,Sacred. Octavo. 92 pages. Joanna Mills Music #4409881. Published by Joanna Mills Music (A0.781324). This award-winning, heartwarming original children's Christmas Musical retells the Christmas Story through the eyes of the animals, and reminds us that even the humblest among us have important gifts to share! The story is told entirely through scripture readings and songs, which allows for maximum flexibility with age-range, cast size, and set/stage requirements. The included scripture readings are from the World English Bible, but you may substitute any version you prefer, and longer readings can be shared by multiple readers. It can be performed as a simple Lessons & Carols style service/concert, or it can easily be expanded into a full pageant, complete with sets and costumes. (average run time 45 minutes) The Animal Alleluia features one adapted traditional hymn and five original songs (plus one reprise) written and arranged for school-aged children by Joanna Mills. The songs are all set in an accessible range for young children, and feature simple tunes which are easy to learn. Some pieces also provide solo opportunities. This package contains two versions of each song; an easy unison version (some with optional easy descant or counterpoint harmonies on the final chorus), and a 2-part choir version, which features simple, easy-to-learn harmonies. This allows you to mix and match your arrangements to suit the abilities of your singers and your rehearsal time constraints. For those students who do not read music, one-page lyric sheets (for the unison arrangements) are also included to help reduce copying costs. The piano accompaniments are at an intermediate level and guitar chords are included, which allows older youth to participate as musicians (or allows experienced accompanists to learn them quickly). An mp3 of rehearsal piano tracks (S0.549675) and an mp3 of unison sung tracks (S0.729575) is also available for purchase! This complete package contains: -Director’s notes with performance suggestions -List of scenes and songs in order (including suggestions for characters, costumes, sets and props) -Scripture passages from the World English Bible for readers 7 songs(including 1 reprise) with the following arrangements provided for each song: --Unison lyric sheet (for children who do not read music) --Unison Choir arrangement with piano accompaniment and guitar chords --2-Part Choir arrangement with piano accompaniment and guitar chords visit www.joannamills.ca for more savings and free offers.

End Of The LineAlbum & Songbook review by:  Kathy Parsons (MainlyPiano.com):Isadar’s fourth solo piano album is a blend of smooth jazz and new age stylings, showing both his impressive technique and sensitivity to melody. Several of the eight selections are free-form and improvisational, revealing some of Liz Story’s influence on his music. Some of Isadar’s earlier recordings have very dark, moody sections, but this one stays fairly upbeat and optimistic without being ear candy. The music is complex enough to sink your teeth into, and yet is accessible enough to enjoy as a backdrop to a quiet dinner or an evening with a good book. Joyful Running begins the journey with an exuberant and uplifting piece that reminds me a little of some of Spencer Brewer’s bouncier compositions. Fountain of Life is a beautiful piece with a water-like flow that never stops in its 10 1/2 minutes. I listened to this CD several times without realizing that this song was that long. It flows and meanders so effortlessly that it seemed no longer than the other seven selections, most of which are between four and five minutes in length. Unstructured and free, this is one of my favorite tracks. I also really like the title track, which is even more abstract and unstructured. The tone is of searching and moving forward. End of the Line is my favorite on this album. Very introspective and contemplative, this seems to be a very personal piece. It is the most somber track, but one still senses hope despite the ending of something dear and important. Or maybe it’s simply the end of the journey and the dread of returning to real life - I feel this way on the last day of my vacations! It is a wonderful and moving closing to an excellent album. The companion songbook is expertly transcribed and engraved by David Shenton of New York Music Publishing. The layout of the music is clear and uncluttered, and the notation includes pedal markings and dynamics that allow the pianist to express the music as closely as possible to how Isadar played it on the recording.  A few of the pieces are quite long and require a more advanced pianist who is able to express the nuances that keep the recording so interesting, but several of the pieces are well within the capabilities of upper intermediate players.  Some of the rhythms are a little bit tricky, but the majority of the left hand parts are running eighth notes, which make it easier.  None of the key signatures are difficult, and none of the chords have a reach of more than an octave, making this music very playable for smaller hands.  My favorite pieces to play in this book are Joyful Running, Voice of God (Thanksgiving), Smoke Signals, and End of the Line.Isadar is an artist on both Enlightened Piano Radio & Whisperings Solo Piano Radio, the latter featuring some of today's biggest names in solo piano music, including Ludovico Einaudi, David Nevue, Brian Crain, Kevin Kern, Robin Spielberg, Michele McLaughlin, Philip Wesley and over 300 more... Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.947265 Composed by John Philips. Blues,Jazz. Score and parts. 17 pages. John Philips Music Service #3867627. Published by John Philips Music Service (A0.947265). Very easy chart for middle schools on up. Based on 12 bar blues it runs at about 140 and has simple themes that are done with unison sections. It’ funky 2 beat and make you want to clap your hands on 2 & 4. Fun to play, younger players can do it and learn. It usually works to have the horn players that are not playing in the first part of the chat clap their hands over their head on 2 and 4. This will get the people into it. This is a simple funky 2 beat and should be kept that way. Piano has dissonant afterbeats--should be soft.If you want a Maynard or Buddy chart, look elsewhere. This series of charts uses nothing more complicated than eighth notes, are not frantic or screamers, extreme ranges and are hemi-demi-semi-quaver free. They depend on intonation and the players being not intimidated by what he is asked to play. There is no contest to see how high you can go before you need oxygen , how many notes you can play in 9 seconds or before your bell overheats , or how long it takes the audience to cover their earsRelaxed and confident players always play more in tune. Good harmonies, lines and realistic rhythm patterns will produce a good result that will swing and be enjoyed by player and listener alike.

Bassoon,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1316530 Composed by Angela Salvaggione. Baroque,Contest,Festival,Instructional. Score and part. 7 pages. Angela Salvaggione #905263. Published by Angela Salvaggione (A0.1316530). This piece is based on a ground, or ostinato. That means it has a repeating pattern, in this case, eight bars. La Folia is a ground that’s been used by many composers over the centuries, including Corelli (Violin Sonata Op. 5, no. 12) and Vivaldi (Trio Sonata, Op. 1 no. 12), and more recently, Rachmaninoff (Variations on a Theme of Corelli) and Manuel Ponce (Variations sur Folia de España et fugue), and more recently still, Glen Shannon’s La Follia Variations for recorder ensemble. Many of these pieces are quite long to listen to, but are written for a variety of instruments and a variety of styles. Perhaps it will inspire you to try and write a variation yourself. You can have your teacher play the ground and you play your variation at the same time to see if you like how it sounds together. Warning! DO NOT start this piece too fast! The opening theme is very easy, but after every eight bars, each variation becomes more difficult as you Level Up through the piece. Keep everything under control, and think of ways you can make each variation sound different – experiment with your dynamics and articulations. Time: ca. 2:15Key: D minorRange: E2-Bb3With large leaps and running scalar sixteenth note passages, this piece is appropriate for a second year student.Once the student has purchased this piece, an adjudicator’s copy may be made. Teachers may purchase individual copies for each student’s use. Studio licensing is not available.

Harp - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797493 Composed by Carol Wood. Celtic,Halloween,Holiday,New Age,Spiritual. Score. 22 pages. Afghan Press Music for the Harp #4886961. Published by Afghan Press Music for the Harp (A0.797493). While all eight of these Celtic holidays may not be truly ancient, several of them certainly are; some, like Samhain, have had Christianizing veils cast over them but have kept many of the pre-Christian customs associated with their celebration. Interested harpists will find a wealth of available information about these holidays, their names, and their customs. Imbolc, February 1st or 2nd, is also the Feast of St. Bridget or Brigid and is associated with the ancient goddess of that name in Celtic mythology.Ostara is the name sometimes given to the neo-Celtic celebration of the Spring Equinox. This piece depicts the dawn of the day and of the year. Beltaine, the joyous celebration of spring’s warmth and wealth of flowers and new greenery, occurs on the first day of May. The longest day of the year and the shortest night mark the Summer Solstice-Midsummer. Since long before Shakespeare’s funny and lyrical play A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the Summer Solstice has been associated with magic.Lughnasadh, on August 1st, is the festival of the first harvest. A version of the name of this festival survives in Manx and Scots Gaelic as well as in Irish Gaelic, and the name itself derives from Lugh, one of the most important Celtic godsMabon marks the Autumn Equinox and the end of summer; for me, it is a wistful moment of the year-extremely beautiful yet transitory. Samhain is one of the most significant celebrations in the Celtic year- the word itself means the end of summer, the beginning of the dark part of the year. It survives even in non-Celtic countries as Halloween, thanks to its adoption into the Christian calendar as All Hallows’ Eve. It is said to be the time when the veils between this world and the next are at their most thin. The Winter Solstice is marked in many European cultures as a time for celebrating the birth of the new light and a time for decorating with evergreens like holly. For The Holly King, modal and traditional versions of the carol The Holly and the Ivy, were used because of the lyrics’ references to the rising of the sun, and the running of the deer.

Cello,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1314243 Composed by Camille Saint-Saens. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. 19th Century,Contest,Festival,Historic,Romantic Period,Wedding. Score and part. 11 pages. Jmsgu3 #902984. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1314243). Saint-Saëns: The Swan (Le Cygne) movement 13 from the Carnival of the Animals Suite. One of his most popular and widely recognized works, it is the only movement from the Carnival Suite that Saint-Saëns permitted to be performed publicly during his lifetime. This is an excellent recital encore to demonstrate melodic playing and strategic phrasing. The Carnival of the AnimalsThe Carnival of the Animals is an entertaining musical suite of fourteen movements by Camille Saint-Saëns. The work was composed for private performance by an ensemble of two pianos and solo instruments. The Swan (No. 13) is among the fourteen most famous movements. In its entirety, it lasts about 25 minutes. Saint-Saëns BackgroundCharles-Camille Saint-Saëns 1835 – 1921) was, by all means, in particular, a famous French composer, brilliant organist, and significant musical mastermind of the Romantic era. Indeed, his most famous compositions, in the long run, include his Piano Concerto No. 2 (1868), Cello Concerto No. 1 (1872), and the Danse macabre (1874). Notwithstanding, we must also add Violin Concerto No. 3 (1880), Symphony No. 3 (the Organ Symphony, 1886), and, it must be remembered, Carnival of the Animals (1886) to the list. ChildhoodIt is essential to realize that Saint-Saëns was undoubtedly, in fact, a child musical prodigy. Consequently, with this in mind, he made his concert debut, albeit at ten years old. Another critical point to remember is that he expressly studied at the Paris Conservatoire, then, despite reality, conversely followed a traditional career path as a church organist. Nevertheless, twenty years later, on the other hand, he left to become a successful freelance pianist and composer despite, as has been noted, his former employment situation. Furthermore, his performances were, after all, markedly in demand - not only in Europe but, above all, in the Americas all in all as well. YouthA point often overlooked is that in his youth, Saint-Saëns was undoubtedly excited about the modern music of the day. He was, in essence, fond of the music of his contemporaries, particularly Schumann, Liszt, and, for the most part, Wagner. In contrast, however, his compositions seemed, in fact, primarily confined within the conservative classical tradition. Be that as it may, he was, at the same time, nevertheless, a scholar of musical history.CriticismOn the whole, his conservatism, in fact, ultimately brought him into frequent conflict in his later years with composers of the impressionist and, in particular, the dodecaphonic schools of musical thought. A point often overlooked is that he included neoclassical elements in his music, contrary to some critics. Furthermore, in so doing, he provided the most compelling evidence that he predicted the techniques and works by Stravinsky and Les Six. To put it another way, given these points, he was regarded, perhaps for the most part unfairly, as a non-progressive reactionary henceforth around the time of his passing. LegacySaint-Saëns taught briefly in Paris, where his students included Gabriel Fauré. Maurice Ravel later studied with Fauré. In conclusion, both Ravel and Fauré were powerfully influenced by Saint-Saëns, whom they respected as a musical mastermind.
