For several years, Tio, The Little Keyboard Man , has been looking over the shoulders of younger and older piano beginners as hero and helper. Used to complement schoolwork, the little Tio pieces help to recreate and deepen what has been learned in other contexts. Whether now as a single player or paired as a duet, whether relaxed at Christmas or bold in an expanded tonal space - Tio is always on the spot and has packed the appropriate music. After five volumes, a sixth and final volume will complete the piano series. A Goodbye Song For the sixth and closing volume of her Tio series, the piano pedagogue and artist Kerstin Strecke has compiled a selection of German and European children's songs. Presented primarily as supplementary literature from the first piano lesson, the volume even includes several pieces in two levels of difficulty and for four-hand playing. Song texts are given in German or in their original language and freely translated into German. A table of contents of the songs, in English, can be found at the end of the volume, lovingly illustrated by the author herself. Small, interspersed additional assignments also support a first understanding of music theory in the young keyboard artists.

There is not much study material available for trumpet students at elementary music school level. The authors of this volume have set out to fill this gap, selecting partly original studies, partly studies written for other wind instruments and transcribing those most suitable for the trumpet. The pieces are arranged in ascending order of difficulty.

** This is the spiral-bound edition for instruments other than keyboard and guitar.  The third volume in this popular series, Revival III features arrangements of fourteen familiar Christmas carols for contemporary ensembles. Christmas carols, like many traditional hymns, are often arranged for four-part choir and organ. With this collection, Tony Alonso focuses instead on the needs of the piano- or guitar-based ensemble, creating accessible carol arrangements for SAB voices, piano, and guitar. Also included is an optional alternate harmonization for the final stanza of each piece featuring a soprano descant. Although these arrangements can be utilized as choral anthems, they are truly intended to lead and inspire congregational song. They are compatible with the texts found in GIA’s hymnals and yet can be edited easily to agree with the version of the carol most familiar to the assembly. CONTENTS: Angels We Have Heard on High (G-10431) • Away in a Manger (G-10432) • Hark! The Herald Angels Sing (G-10434) • It Came Upon a Midnight Clear (G-10435) • We Three Kings of Orient Are (G-10443) • O Little Town of Bethlehem (G-10439) • Joy to the World (G-10436) • Once in Royal David’s City (G-10440) • What Child Is This? Year of composition unknown, presumably in the period 1723-1732 Der saure Weg - the bitter path - is how this motet is popularly known, taking its nickname from the fugue theme, with its awkward intervals which are a challenge to sing cleanly. But Bach's choral music contains a whole range of other challenges, too. Score and part available separately - see item CA.3122900.

Simon Holt 's 3rd Quartet is the third of six pieces which make up a cycle with the overall title 'Terrain'. Lasting around 23 minutes, this wonderful work is arranged for String Quartet and was co-commissioned by The Radcliffe Trust, NMC Recordings, Internationales Musikfestival Heidelberger Fruhling and Wigmore Hall. The premiere was performed on 19th January 2015. This is the set of parts for 2 Violins, Viola and Cello. The six different compositions, of which 3rd Quartet is the third, are for different combinations of stringed instruments, featuring Piano in the second piece. The music that comprises 3rd Quartet is drawn from the other parts ofthe cycle as a whole, yet in a reverse order. In this way the piece develops what has come before, foreshadows what's to come, all the while encompassing the entire cycle in a single piece.

Written early, orchestrated lateThe cycle Seven Early Songs on texts by Lenau, Rilke, Storm and other poets was put together in 1928, more than 20 years after the composition of the individual songs. From the large amount of songs for voice and piano that he had written in his early years, Alban Berg selected seven of them which he then orchestrated. After serious consideration, he laid down a definitive sequence in which the tempo constantly alternates while the orchestral instruments symmetrically recede before picking up again. Once the piano and orchestral editions were printed, the Seven Early Songs quickly conquered concert halls in both scorings. They are still at home on the concert stages of the world today which is reason enough to present this work by Alban Berg in an Urtext edition following the Violin Concerto. The orchestral material can now be purchased for the first time.Awarded the German Music Edition Prize 2016.

The title Pastoral Mass originated from my children's song Shepherd Song, as this melody is played by the saxophone at the beginning of the work. The sound of this instrument is reminiscent of a traditional Lithuanian folk instrument known as a birbyne, played by shepherds in the country. The character of the music varies between popular and Romantic styles, and the text is taken from the traditional Latin mass in six movements. At certain points, the instruments are able to improvise freely - this is predetermined by the conductor and soloists. The soprano saxophone part can also be played on any other woodwind instrument with an appropriate range. (Vytautas Miskinis). Score available separately - see item CA.2800600.

This Drones, Variations, Ornaments sheet music is the full score for this innovative and dramatic piece by Nico Muhly . According to Muhly , this piece is music in constant transformation, featuring steadily evolving melodies from a number of instruments, punctuated with hugely original percussive parts, with instructions to fill the Cymbal with chain, coins and other metal objects in order to make it sound like glass shattering. It is this inspired composition that makes Drones, Variations, Ornaments the interesting and acclaimed piece that it is. With this piece, Muhly has attempted to recreate the sound and motion of a machine through music. String chords begin the piecewith a light and soothing opening, before the machine (made up of Winds, Guitar, Percussion and Piano) awakens. This truly unusual piece is a joy to listen to and perform, and we are pleased to offer this full score to you.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's horn concertos: the Mozart expert Henrik Wiese edits the central work genre of Viennese classicism according to the current status of international Mozart research. Mozart wrote the Horn Concerto K. 417 - like the other works of this genre as well - for his horn-playing friend Joseph Leutgeb. The jokes which the composer made at Leutgeb's expense are wellknown. For example, he called the dedicatee a donkey in the autograph, and, as Henrik Wiese evidences in his preface, Mozart also occasionally enjoyed a bit of tomfoolery with the soloist in the musical text as well.Otherwise the editor's task was anything but amusing. The main source - the autograph score - is incomplete: missing are the close of Movement I as well as the entire slow middle movement. For these two sections, Wiese used a copy of the score from the archive of the publisher Johann Andre. The unusual circumstance that Mozart generally left the horn part almost unmarked recurs in the Concerto K. 417 and was deliberately maintained in the Urtext edition.with parts for horn in F and Eb major.

Inspired by Chinese tradition, this concerto-like dance suite includes: 1. Lion Dance, 2. YangKo, and 3. Muqam. Each movement draws from melodies and rhythms characteristic of various regions of China many centuries ago. CHINESE FOLK DANCE SUITE is available for violin with full orchestra, or as a recital work with piano.Supported by a major commissioning award from the Serge Koussevitzky Music Foundation in the Library of Congress, Chinese Folk Dance Suite is written for solo violin and orchestra; it was premiered by The Women’s Philharmonic with violin soloist Terrie Baune, conducted by Apo Hsu, on March 10, 2001, at Yerba Buena Center For the Arts Theater in San Francisco.Inspired by various Chinese traditional folk dances, the suite has three movements:I. Lion Dance. Traditionally, people dance with richly decorated hand-made lions, accompanied by percussion ensemble, to celebrate happy occasions and major festivals throughout the country. In this composition, I use Chinese drum and other percussion instruments in the background, to form a dynamic and rhythmic texture responding to the solo part, which imitates the tunes played on the suona (traditional Chinese trumpet). The pitch materials came from the traditional Guangdong tune “Dragon Boat Racing,†and the Chaozhou tune “Lion Playing Ball.â€II. YangKo. Originating in northern China, this is a major folk dance form in mass performance popularized in the country. In YangKo performance, people play rhythmic patterns on the drums hung around their waists while singing and dancing. In the second movement, I imagined a warm scene of YangKo dancing in distance. The solo violin plays a sweet and gracious melodic line while all members of the orchestra sing non-pitched syllables in different layers as the soft background, to imitate the percussion sound which produces the ever-going pulse.III. Muqam. This large-scale music and dance form, from the Uygur nationality in Xinjiang province, originated in the 15th century. My third movement use a 7/8 meter and the melodic style of Muqam music. The fiery dancing gesture culminates in the sustained climax section at the end of the work, after a colorful violin cadenza in both improvisational singing style and polyphonic writing with woven lines.

Claves are musical instruments of Cuban origin. The first claves used were on the docks and shipyards of Havana where simple wooden pegs were clacked together to accompany the rhythms of songs played by dock workers. The claves functioned like rhythmic guides to the song; they began by organizing the rhythmic accompaniment of the music. As time passed, the amount of adapters of the claves and performers increased. Claves are often used to play a repeating rhythmic figure throughout a piece and it is also found in African and Brazilian music. The claves are used in virtually all Cuban music genres, and has since been universalized. Today, this instrument is commonly used in many musical genres. Children can easily learn to play our IQ Plus wooden claves by simply strike one stick against the other. Holding the clave on top of gripped fingers makes the sound more clear. This instrument will teach children the basic rhythmic patterns of any type of music. Children will enjoy exploring different ways to play them, holding them differently, even tapping them against the floor. The claves do not have specific pitches and the resulting sounds may vary while the instrument is being played. Children will learn how to modulate sounds based on where the clave is struck.

Written in 2001, this work was conceived by the need to enlarge the repertoire of works for solo cello, an important goal since the repertoire of such works is limited. Most cellists are limited to performances of such well-known solo works as the Suites of Bach, written almost 300 years ago, as well as other classics of the genre by Max Reger, Zoltan Kodaly, Benjamin Britten, Gaspar Cassado, Enric Casals, etc.The intention of the Suite Exotique is to revolutionize the concept of the Baroque suite by transforming the suite into a collection of modern dances, which are both contemporary and widely recognized today. Thus, the dances of the Baroque suite, such as Allemande, Courante, Sarabande are substituted for the Tango, Milonga, Blues in such a way that the traditional formal structure of six movements of Baroque dances is modernized by rhythms and contemporary styles which coexist in the Modern world, but are separate from and do not pertain to those works which are normally considered to belong to the realm of cultured music.Apart from the fusion represented by the mixture of a Baroque genre with modern, urban musical language found in this work, the subtitle exotica is appropriate due to the originality of writing such a work for cello solo. This work allows the interpreter to explore and take full advantage of their technical, artistic and expressive abilities. This work establishes a total symbiosis between the instrument and the evolutionary transformation of its musical language which in turn creates a style adapted to the expressive requirements of the work itself. The specific techniques and qualities of the cello are placed in service of the required style and concept of each movement of the Suite. At the same time those stylistic characteristics are transformed and adapted to the particular characteristics of the cello and taking full advantage of the instruments polyphonic, sonic, aesthetic qualities as well as its timbre. The Suite Exotique was premiered in August, 2003 during the International Music Festival of Ibiza by the Russian cellist Svetlana Tovstukha.
