Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1216738 Composed by Arthur Ager. Arranged by Robert Luke Thompson. 20th Century,Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious,Spiritual. Score. 5 pages. Monkspath Music #813277. Published by Monkspath Music (A0.1216738). James Arthur Ager (1867-1947) was a British composer, organist, and music educator. He studied composition at the Royal College of Music in London under Hubert Parry and Frederick Bridge. Ager served as the organist and choirmaster at St. Andrew's Church in Birmingham for over 50 years. Ager also became Professor of Organ & Harmony at the Birmingham and Midland Institute School of Music (the predecessor of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire) for nearly four decades. Although not as well-known as some of his contemporaries, Ager's music, including a variety of songs, choral, piano, and organ works, is worth exploring for those interested in late 19th and early 20th-century music. Perhaps his most famous composition is The Legend of St. Christopher, a cantata based on the medieval legend. Eventide is a beautiful vocal piece composed in 1916, with lyrics written by Arthur's daughter, Gladys. It is suitable for a wide range of voices (including soprano, mezzo-soprano, tenor, and baritone) and can be a great alternative to traditional hymns like Abide with Me. Often associated with evening and twilight, Eventide is a versatile piece that can be sung on various occasions where a reflective and contemplative atmosphere is desired. It is ideal for Christian worship services, funerals, memorials, candlelight vigils, recitals, or concerts where a reflective, serene, and tranquil atmosphere is desired. A PDF scan of the original publication is available via email request. For further pieces, view the Monkspath Music catalogue and click here!

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1215879 Composed by Arthur Ager. Arranged by Robert Luke Thompson. 20th Century,A Cappella,Christian,Easter,Praise & Worship. Octavo. 6 pages. Monkspath Music #812573. Published by Monkspath Music (A0.1215879). Perhaps his most famous composition is The Legend of St. Christopher, a cantata based on the medieval legend. Rejoicing is a beautiful hymn for SATB choir, which would be perfect for any number of concerts, festal days and services, such as Easter, Harvest, Earth Day, or for any suitable occasion. The register for all voices is suitable and accessible, making it an ideal addition to any choir’s repertoire. This version (in the original key of A major) has been re-engraved for both SATB short score, and long score – giving your choir the flexibility you may need. The short score has been kept as close to the original as possible, whilst the long score features some suggested extra dynamic markings. A PDF scan of the original publication is available via email request. For further pieces, view the Monkspath Music catalogue and click here!

In 2004, the American Film Institute ranked the song third in its list of the 100 best American film songs. The song was arranged for the Ukulele and notated in classical musical notation and tablature. The sound of a Vibraphone was used in the setting, so the sound does not mix with the sound of your own instrument. TTBB choir, piano 4-hands - Moderately Easy - Digital Download SKU: MQ.0962-E Composed by Archibald T. Davison and Sir Arthur Seymour Sullivan. Secular, 21st Century, Faith, Hope/Assurance, Love, Trust/Guidance. Instrument part. 25 pages. Duration 3 minutes, 15 seconds. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #0962-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.0962-E). English.Based on a poem by Sidney Lanier (1842-1881,) this journey into the future parallels Noah's journey on the Ark. The music opens with lines which flow like waves. The oboe has an octave motif which signifies reaching out in search across the waters. A quiet middle section expresses the dove being released on a quest for new land. The closing lines create beautiful imagery, “Thou art only a tiny and quiet dove, but thine eye is faith, and thy wing is love.†A lyrical, expansive setting for SSAA chorus, oboe, and piano. Duration: 3:15 Oboe part included.

Piano Trio No 1

Piano Trio,String Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.966297 Composed by David F Golightly. Contemporary. Score and parts. 151 pages. Modrana Music Publishers Ltd #3002975. Published by Modrana Music Publishers Ltd (A0.966297). The Piano Trio no 1 was commissioned, premiered and recorded by the Fenice Trio in 2002. This substantial piano trio contained much of Golightly's symbolism and is festooned with the composers use of DFG codes. Stylistically, it represents a landmark in the genre development of Golightly, linked as it is to much of the melodic and harmonic language of his first symphony. I highly personal work it is only for the most advanced piano trios. The duration is 26 minutes. Score and parts.Review. Piano Trio Letters of Regret. (2001/2)David Golightly's piano trio Letters of Regret was commissioned by The Fenice Trio, composed during the summer of 2001 and completed in February 2002. The first performance took place at the Middlesbrough Theatre in June 2002. The work is in three movements (Demon, Angel and Regrets). Demon, the shortest movement of the work, opens with a rhythmical gesture from the piano, soon joined by the strings. This moderately fast movement is actually some sort of whimsical Allegretto sometimes of Russian flavour. Reviewing David's First Symphony, the composerArthur Butterworth remarked that Golightly might well be a British Shostakovich.Indeed, the Piano Trio calls the Russian composer to mind, particularly so in this slightly ironic movement that rises up to a short-lived ghostly climax abruptly cut short. Angel opens mysteriously with ethereal static string textures softly punctuated by the piano. Later, the string's sustained notes are gently accompanied by piano arpeggios. Then the strings, and later the piano, make some unsuccessful attempts at a tune, hesitantly so and with some glissandi contradicting the attempted melody. Eventually, the cello, followed by the violin, launches a sorrowful lyrical song, still disrupted by nervous interjections eventually short-lived.The Angel movement, though remains emotionally and harmonically ambiguous throughout. It too ends unobtrusively. The Demon and Angel movements actually act as a twofold introduction to the last movement. Regrets that is some sort of theme and seven variations, a series of letters, written but not sent,as the composer remarks. This predominantly lyrical, often nostalgic movement is the emotional heart of what is obviously a deeply personal statement on the composer's part. Golightly's Piano Trio is a superbly crafted, beautifully moving work, not unworthy its models(Shostakovich or John Ireland), and a highly personal, quite accessible work of substance that deserves wider recognition and that should be eagerly picked-up by trios willing to add a new substantial work to their repertoire.Hubert Culot.
