Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1309766 Composed by Jay Rifkin, Lebo M, and Mark Mancina. Arranged by Andrea Smiley. Broadway,Classical,Film/TV,Multicultural,Musical/Show,World. 77 pages. Andrea Smiley #898932. Published by Andrea Smiley (A0.1309766). Several years ago, I lost my father suddenly. One of the things that helped me through the grieving proess was music. The music of Kings of the Past and He Lives in You from Disney's The Lion King resonated in me during this time and, being a musician, I started searching for an arrangement of this for symphonic wind ensemble. Much to my disappointment, I could not find such an arrangement. So, I sat down and wrote this out, developing the emotional tones I felt during the process, traveling from grief and despair to eventually hope and celebraton of who my father was and that he continues to abide in me in spirit, and developing the difficuty level I thought would be welcome in the type of ensemble I like to play in. I would recommend this score and parts to a community band or a skilled high school band, as ther are several chances to highlight the different sections of the band with multiple solos that will challenge the range on the instrumentalists.

Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1272699 By Carrie Underwood. By Chris Tompkins and Josh Kear. Arranged by David McKeown. 21st Century,Country,Pop,Rock,Singer/Songwriter. Score and Parts. 28 pages. David McKeown #864903. Published by David McKeown (A0.1272699). Before he Cheats was a huge crossover hit for Carrie Underwood in 2007, charting long and high on Mainstream and Country US charts and winning Grammies for both the singer and the writers, Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins. This version is a flexible band arrangement scored for Solo Voice along with Rhythm Section, Alto, Tenor and Baritone Saxophones, Trumpet, Trombone, Clarinet, Flute, French Horn and Violin. You will download a single 28 page pdf which combines the full score (in landscape format) with all the separate parts (in portrait). It suits players at an intermediate standard and is guaranteed to be popular with young and old. The arrangement is designed to be flexible as not all instruments need to be present for a convincing performance. Once the rhythm section picks up the shuffle groove the rest of the band will play with confidence. This version is equally ideal for school bands and professional bands looking to add a big hit to their repertoire. The overall performance time is three and a half minutes. Listen to the audio MIDI sample to get an impression of the arrangement. There are many more top quality arrangements and compositions by David McKeown for you to browse at http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/david-mckeown-sheet-music/3006203?isPLP=1.

Gabrieli: Canzon Septimi Toni Ch 172 for Concert Band

Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549206 Composed by Gabrieli. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Renaissance,Standards. Score and Parts. 29 pages. Jmsgu3 #3461981. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549206). Duration 3:00. Score 9 pg. Parts 2 pg. ea. Instrumentation: small wind band, no percussion. Innovations First of all, Gabrieli preferred sacred vocal and certainly instrumental music. Hence, he concentrated on music that consequently took advantage of resonance and likewise reverberation for maximum effect. Seems like Gabrieli may have invented dynamics – or was rather the first to indicate them such as in his Sonata Pian’ e Forte. Consequently, he was also a pioneer in spatial techniques. He therefore developed and used very specific notation to indicate instrumentation. Gabrieli experimented with assembling massive instrumental forces into isolated groups separated by space. In this way, he consequently contributed heavily to the Baroque Concertato style. Polychoral Works Gabrieli probably used the layout of the San Marco church for his experiments. This is because he worked there as a musician and composer. Furthermore, the church had two choir lofts facing each other. He certainly used these to create striking spatial effects between instrumental forces. Certainly, many of his works are composed such that a choir or instrumental group could first be heard on one side, then consequently followed by a response from the group on the other side. Sometimes there was probably a third group positioned near the main altar as well. Spatial Music Above all, Gabrieli studied carefully detailed groups of instruments and singers. Furthermore, it seems like he created precise directions for instrumentation in rather more than two groups. The instruments, because they could be appropriately situated, could consequently be heard with perfect clearness at distant locations. As a result, arrangements which seem bizarre on paper, can in contrast sound perfectly in-balance. First Works Finally, Gabrieli published his first motets along with his uncle Andrea's compositions in Concerti (1587). These compositions furthermore indicate considerable usage of dialogue and echo effects. Consequently, here we see low and high choirs with the variance between their ranges indicated by instrumental accompaniment. Seems like Gabrieli’s later motets Sacrae Symphoniae (1597) move away from close antiphony. In contrast, he moves towards not simply echoing the material, but developing it by sequential choral entrances. Even more, he takes this procedure to the extreme in the Motet Omnes Gentes. Unlike earlier works, here the instruments are certainly an essential part of the presentation. Also, only parts marked: Capella are supposed to be sung. Homophony Hence, after 1605, Gabrieli moves to a much more homophonic style. He writes sections purely for instruments – which calls Sinfonia – and smaller sections for vocal soloists, accompanied by a basso continuo.

Program this initially to set an exciting mood or as an encore to leave the listeners in a jubilant afterglow. The parts are not tricky, but plan to rehearse the many subtleties of dynamic contrast between the various sub-groups and the overall articulations. Innovations First of all, Gabrieli preferred sacred vocal and, indeed, instrumental music. Hence, he concentrated on music that consequently took advantage of resonance and reverberation for maximum effect. Gabrieli may have invented dynamics – or was the first to indicate them, such as in his Sonata Pian’ e Forte. Consequently, he was also a pioneer in spatial techniques. He, therefore, developed and used very specific notation to indicate instrumentation. He indeed used these to create striking spatial effects between instrumental forces. Indeed, many of his works are composed such that a choir or instrumental group could first be heard on one side, followed by a group response. Sometimes there was probably a third group near the main altar as well. Spatial Music Above all, Gabrieli studied carefully detailed groups of instruments and singers. Furthermore, it seems like he created precise directions for instrumentation in rather more than two groups. Because they could be appropriately situated, the instruments could consequently be heard with perfect clearness at distant locations. As a result, arrangements that seem bizarre on paper can, in contrast, sound perfectly in balance. First Works Finally, Gabrieli published his first motets and his uncle Andrea's compositions in Concerti (1587). These compositions furthermore indicate considerable usage of dialogue and echo effects. Consequently, here we see low and high choirs with the variance between their ranges indicated by instrumental accompaniment. Gabrieli’s later motets Sacrae Symphoniae (1597) seem to move away from close antiphony. In contrast, he moves towards not simply echoing the material but developing it by sequential choral entrances. Even more, he takes this procedure to the extreme in the Motet Omnes Gentes. Unlike earlier works, the instruments are an essential part of the presentation, only parts marked: Capella are supposed to be sung. Homophony Hence, after 1605, Gabrieli moves to a much more homophonic style. He writes sections purely for instruments – called Sinfonia – and smaller sections for vocal soloists, accompanied by a basso continuo.

Published by Musica Nova USA (A0.917403). Pico del Teide is a 17 minute symphonic poem for concert band, grade 5. It was composed to feature the orchestral differences and colors in the symphonic band. There are several featured soloists throughout the piece, especially a long extended solo for alto saxophone. The piece also uses many textural variations showing several sections of chamber music. Pico del Teide is often selected as a contest piece when bands compete, especially in Spain. Pico del Teide was composed in 2005 and was premiered March 10, 2006 by Felipe Neri and the Banda Municipal of Tenerife. It won First Prize in the II Concurso Bienal de Composición de Música para Banda Ciudad de Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain. The piece is programmatic as it depicts a person climbing through the different sections of the Teide mountain - Los Roques, Las Cañadas, Pico del Teide, Teide and Pico Viejo to the top of Pico del Teide, which is the highest point in the Canary Islands.Gregory Fritze is a prize-winning composer and Fulbright Scholar, as well as an active performer and conductor. Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.987645 Composed by John Philip Sousa. Arranged by Kevin R. Tam. 20th Century. Score and parts. 61 pages. Freedom Band Press #45615. Published by Freedom Band Press (A0.987645). John Philip Sousa shall forever be regarded as the March King. However, his body and scope of work extend well beyond the marches which made him so famous. In a rough accounting of Sousa’s body of work, marches make up only the second most numerous of his efforts – some 135 march compositions versus over 320 arrangements and transcriptions for Band. Outside of his marches, most of the Sousa catalog, including his humoresques, remains unpublished and largely unheard today. By way of an old Sousa concert program, we learn the narrative of his humoresque Among My Souvenirs. In it, the Nichols song Among My Souvenirs is lengthened into a sketch. Among his souvenirs is a photograph, letters and a broken heart. As he meditates, he goes back to a time before he was broken-hearted and remembers when he and his beloved were softly singing Twinkling Stars are Laughing, Love. Next, his mind reverts to the time when he was Seeing Her Home, recalling the songs of years gone by at Aunt Dinah’s Quilting Party – he was Seeing Nellie Home. After this, he travels to the Far East, and visions of The Road to Mandalay come to him. From there, he meditates on the Sweet Mysteries of Life and, finally, arrives at the closing picture in which he is once more Among my Souvenirs.

Concert Band - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.995848 Composed by Andrew Strawn. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 164 pages. Andrew Strawn #4629351. Published by Andrew Strawn (A0.995848). The Mad Adventurer is arguably one of my most monumental works. Comprising of three movements (listed in detail below) it depicts the stress of an Adventurer and his eventual insanity. Composed for Symphonic Band, I hope you enjoy, The Mad Adventurer. I. Dangerous Waters The Great Adventurer has travelled for many years. He has fought in great battles and discovered beautiful treasures. It is for the immense joy he quests. The adventures continue to become more challenging, yet the Great Adventurer always succeeds. II. The Tormented Heart Contrary to his fun from quests, the Adventurer now has a family back home, and he worries what would happen to them if he didn't return. His constant absence caused by his desire for adventure is straining the relationship with his family. He loves them but is always away from them. All the while, death looms above and threatens to end the adventures. III.The Madman The stress and torment of his quests are finally getting to the Adventurer. His emotions are becoming out of control and his mind, irrational. The Adventurer realizes he must return to his family to save his sanity, if not his life. He sets out on one final quest to return home. The trials more mounting than ever before. The once, Great Adventurer is going insane. Until, finally, he crests the hill, and reunites with his family. In the joyful arms of his wife and kids, he is once again, happy.Note: PDF includes a legal-sized score and a letter-sized set of parts.

Concert Band - Digital Download SKU: A0.917412 Composed by Gregory Fritze. 20th Century,Contemporary,Folk. Score and parts. 370 pages. Musica Nova USA #6321277. Published by Musica Nova USA (A0.917412). The Four Seasons in the Basque Country is a 4 movement symphony for concert band. It is the Third Prize Winner of the 2020 American Prize in Composition - Concert Band. Grade 5, duration 27 minutes. The piece depicts four different places in the Basque country that the composer feels best show the changes of season. The first movement is Winter in the Costa Norte (Galerna). Galerna is on the northerncoast and is subject to harsh storms in the winter. As the piece starts off with a light-hearted dance in thepiccolo, a storm is approaching from afar. At first the storm seems to be in the distance but as it comes closer it overtakes the festivities in a bluster. For a short time two conductors are needed as the concertband is split into two groups – one showing the light-hearted dance led by the piccolo, the other thecacophony of the storm led by the percussion. The storm overtakes everything as it ends the movement with a flourish. The second movement Spring in Rioja Alavesa is a calming contrast to the first movement like the freshness of a spring day. The sun rises and shines beams of light onto the acres of grape vines. After a timea short rain comes to refresh and clean the plants. The third movement Autumn at the Guggenheim Museum is in a traditional 3rd movement form of a symphony, minuet and trio, but the harmonies sometimes use bitonality, having the melody in one key while the accompaniment is in another to suggest surrealism. The Guggenheim Museum in Bilbaois one of the world’s most famous museums, not only for the surreal art inside, but also because of the architecture of the building itself. The fourth movement Summer in Bilbao is based on a dance melody composed in the Ezpata- dantza Basque style. It employs a rhythmic element with alternating 6/8 and 3â„4 meters where the eighth notes are basically equal, but in the dance the 3â„4 meter is actually a little bit longer. This type of subtlemanipulation of rhythm is used similarly in the Viennese Waltz, when the 3rd beat would be stretched outto accommodate the dancers. The Ezpata-dantza dance continues until the Altza Gastiak, the officialsong of the Bilbao Athletic Club, the local soccer team of Bilbao, is heard. After this the Ezpata-dantzamelody is transformed from a happy dance to a triumphant melody and rousing finale. In The Four Seasons in the Basque Country all of the themes are original except for the short excerpt ofAltza Gastiakin the 4th movement. Some themes are composed in the style of Basque folk dances.Gregory Fritze is a prize-winning composer and Fulbright Scholar, as well as an active performer. He recently retired from Berklee College of Music where he was Professor and Chair of Composition, serving on the faculty from 1979 to 2016. Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.870372 Composed by Randy A. Steinberg. Contemporary,Latin. Score and parts. 156 pages. Randy A. Steinberg #1885815. Published by Randy A. Steinberg (A0.870372). Born in 1485, Hernando Cortez was a Spanish adventurer rewarded for his courage and skills in battle. In the spring of 1519 with 11 ships and 700 men, he landed on the newly discovered gulf coast of Mexico looking for gold that was rumored to be found there. To ensure that none of his men deserted him, he burned all except one of his fleet of ships. He quickly conquered the Aztec empire and its emperor Montezuma. There, he eventually killed Montezuma and seized the gold and treasure that had belonged to the Aztecs for centuries. By the end of 1520, he had won Mexico for Spain and put it under Spanish rule. As a reward, King Charles V of Spain made him governor and captain general of Mexico. He died in Seville, Spain in 1536. Although Cortez’ aims were for conquest and gold – many which resulted in suffering and misery for the Aztecs, there were interesting cultural side effects as Spain ruled Mexico. Ancient Indian folk tunes and ceremonial music were suddenly intermixed with the higher culture of the baroque and renaissance music from Spain. Much of what we now know of today in the way of Latin styles of music owes its roots to the invasion of Cortez and culture changes he inadvertently brought with him. The Golden Helmet Of Cortez musically commemorates the story of Cortez as he landed in Mexico on that spring day in 1519. The piece is a compilation of many Latin and Mexican musical styles. Some of these are light in style, others evoke the battles that took place. These are all brought together in an exciting programmatic style to be enjoyed by all. 2016 Arrangement New Release.

Concert Band - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.917410 Composed by Gregory Fritze. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Instructional,Standards. Score and parts. 267 pages. Musica Nova USA #6078853. Published by Musica Nova USA (A0.917410). Sinfonietta (alternate title SinfonÃa de Vino y Aceite de Magallon) is a composition for concert band that can be played by any band whether it has 100 players or 30 players. It is at grade 3 level of difficulty and has several substitute parts for ensembles that may not have complete instrumentation. Although the scoring includes piccolo, oboes, bassoons, and French horns, these instruments are not needed to command a good performance.Sinfonietta adheres to classical forms of symphonies by composers such as Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven. The forms are very clear so the players of the band can learn this important history. The first movement is in standard Sonata Allegro form. The second movement is in A B A form and features a solo trumpet. The third movementis in a Rondo form (A B A C A) with three distinct themes. The work was commissioned in 2017 by the town of Magallón, Spain in celebration of the town’s industries of wine and olive oil. The mayor of the town of 1,000 inhabitants, Victor Manuel Chueca Rodriguez, was specific in his request for a composition at grade 3 level of difficulty. He also suggested the title as Symphony. Since it a three-movement composition instead of a four-movement composition (the normal Minuet and Trio movement is not included in this piece), the title of Sinfonietta instead of Symphony is used.Gregory Fritzeis a prize-winning composer and Fulbright Scholar, as well as an active performer and conductor. It was commissioned by Dr. Kristen Tjornehoj, Conductor of the University of Wisconsin at River Falls Symphony Band in remembrance of Kaye Bird, who passed away in 2016 as a resident of River Falls and a member of the community for several years. Kaye Bird was also a resident of Indiana, PA for 37 years and was a well respected teacher in the public schools there. Set Free to go Home was premiered by the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Symphony Band at Fisher Auditorium on February 6, 2020, conducted by Dr. Jason Worzbyt. It is agrade 3 band piece with a duration of five minutes. It is published by Musica Nova USA and availableon sheetmusicplus.com and jwpepper.com.Performance Notes: Set Free to go Home was composed with flexible instrumentation in mind. There are several instruments listed in the score that would enhance the piece (such as harp, oboes, double bass, ect.) but are not necessary to convey a successful performance. For example, if there are not five percussionists available, the piece may be played by less performers with the use of a drumkit, with one person playing two or more parts. This composition can sound very good whether thereare fifteen players or a band with one hundred players.Gregory Fritze is a prize-winning composer and Fulbright Scholar, as well as an active performer and conductor. Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1333010 Composed by Victor Rebullida. 21st Century,Comedy,Holiday,March. 27 pages. Victor Rebullida #919390. Published by Victor Rebullida (A0.1333010). With this composition I wanted to pay tribute to an artist who was famous in his time and fell into oblivion until recent times when his figure has been recovered by various research works.May this work serve as a vindication of the great Marceline. The piece has an optimistic character and in its nearly five minutes of duration I make nods to circus music and the atmosphere of the shows in which Marceline participated.Marceline is the stage name of Marcelino Orbés. He was a Spanish clown, mime, acrobat, comic actor and circus artist, with American nationality since 1922, who is considered the best clown in the world of his time.Marceline was Spanish artist born in 1873 who performed in several European countries. Around 1895 he had success at the London Hippodrome and then enticed by producers Thompson and Dundy to come to the New York Hippodrome, where he arrived with great fanfare in 1905. He was a part of shows at the Hippodrome through 1915, by which time his pantomime routine and falling gags were falling out of favor with the public. He did reappear at the Hippodrome for some later shows in 1920-21 and 1922-23.Attempts to succeed in the restaurant business in New York and Connecticut both failed, and he lost money in real estate ventures. Out of work and out of savings, Marceline was found dead by suicide in his hotel room on November 5, 1927, with photographs of his glory days on the bed.Marceline was long admired by Charlie Chaplin, who worked with Marceline at the London Hippodrome from December 1900 to April 1901, and is one of just a few performers from this period of his life that Chaplin discusses in his autobiography. Chaplin recounts seeing him years later in the United States with a circus, and though expecting to see him be a featured star, was surprised to see him only amongst other clowns.

Brahms composed the Alto Rhapsody, properly known as Rhapsody for Alto, Male Chorus, and Orchestra, opus 53 in 1869. It was first performed in Jena on March 3, 1870. The text is based on Harzreise im Winter (Winter Journey in the Harz Mountains), a poem by well-known German poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832). The Alto Rhapsody, like many of Brahms’ works, has loneliness and alienation as its central themes. Brahms’ devotion to Clara Schumann, Robert Schumann’s widow, is well-known (the letters between her and Brahms fill two volumes). What is less well-known is that he was undoubtedly very fond of Julie Schumann, Clara’s daughter. In 1869, Brahms spent the summer near the Schumann’s residence and was in daily contact with Julie and Clara completing, among other works, the Liebeslieder (Love Song) Waltzes. In early July, Julie announced her engagement. Of course, I told Johannes first of all, Clara noted in her diary on the 11th. Soon after, the conductor Hermann Levi told her that Brahms had been devotedly attached to her daughter. By July 16th, Clara noted in her diary that Brahms speaks only in monosyllables . . . [and] treats Julie in the same manner, although he used to be so especially nice to her. Did he love her? Julie was married on September 22. Later on that very wedding day, Brahms called on Clara, who wrote in her diary, Johannes brought me a very wonderful piece . . . the words from Goethe’s Harzreise. . . He called it his bridal song. This piece seems to me neither more nor less than the expression of his own heart’s anguish. If only he would for once speak so tenderly! This piece is of course the dark and emotional Alto Rhapsody. Goethe’s poem Harzreise im Winter poetically describes the kind of life God intends for different temperaments. The three stanzas set by Brahms concern the fate of a man in fruitless struggle against the bonds of misery. A young man, turned misanthropic by sorrow, seeks solitude in the wilderness. The piece is in the baroque cantata style, with an opening recitative, and aria, and a concluding chorale. The alto describes the desolate winter landscape and in the final chorale joins the male chorus in a prayer for a melody that can bring comfort to the thirsting soul (indeed the plea restore his heart is repeated three times at the end, as a kind of Amen). In the Alto Rhapsody it is not hard to find evidence for Brahms’ statement that I speak through my music. The foregoing is from a program note written for a 1997 New York Choral Society performance of the Alto Rhapsody in observance of the centenary of the death of Johannes Brahms. It has been taken from the society web page http://www.nychoral.org/brahms/brahms3.htmlAn English translation of the German text used by Brahms SOLOBut down there, who is it?His path loses itself in the bush. Behind him the branches close. The grass stands up again. Desolation surrounds him. O, who heals the wounds of the one to whom balm has become poison, who drank hatred of people from the fullness of love? Once despised, now a despiser. Secretly he destroys himself in unsatisfying self-seeking. CHORUS If there is in your psaltery, Father of Love, a tone his ear can hear, let it enliven his heart. .

Published by Victor Rebullida (A0.1333015).

Concert Band - Digital Download SKU: A0.733220 Composed by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor. Arranged by Michael Shaw. Romantic Period. Score and parts. 161 pages. Ayotte Custom Musical Engravings #6341569. Published by Ayotte Custom Musical Engravings (A0.733220). Samuel Coleridge-Taylor was born in Holborn, London on August 15, 1875 and died from pneumonia at the age of 37 in Croy- don, England on September 1, 1912. At an early age his grandfather began teaching him how to play the violin. His musical ability was obvious and at the age of 15, his extended family arranged for Taylor to study at the Royal College of Music. While at RCM he changed from violin to composition, working under professor Charles Villiers Stanford. His classmates included Ralph Vaughan Williams and Gustav Holst. He was later helped by Edward Elgar in 1898, who described Coleridge-Taylor as far and away the cleverest fellow going amongst the young men. By 1896, Coleridge-Taylor was earning a reputation as a composer and was also accepted as an excellent conductor. In 1898 at the age of 23 he composed the African Suite. Danse Nègre is the last of the four movements that make up the African Suite, Op. 35 (proceeded by Introduction, A Negro Love Song, and Valse). Coleridge-Taylor saw it as his mission in life to help establish the dignity of the black man. He was greatly influenced by black American poet P. L. Dunbar. He made three successful visits to the United States to great acclaim. In 1904, on his first USA tour he was received by President Theodore Roosevelt at the White House. Above all, though, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor was known as a man of great dignity and patience.

Published by BJE Music (A0.750785). The Home Coming March (1908) - Concert Band Score and Parts PDF Music by: ET Paull Of course, eventually, all the soldiers and sailors had to eventually come home from all the battles and Paull had that eventuality well covered also. The artwork on the front cover (of unknown origin) is one that is full of imagery that covers all aspects of the services, Army and Navy and is full of patriotic and familial ideals. The border lists all of the US States and the corner pictures depict aspects of homecoming. The main image is a parade of victory. Let's let Paull explain it all to us as he did on the inside cover. Why This Piece Of Music Was Named The Home Coming March Explanatory When the author had about completed the music of the present march, it occurred to him that it might be well to have suggestions made from a number of people, recommending a good name for same, for after all there is considerable in a name. He, therefore, had a special advertisement placed in several of the leading music Journals throughout the country, offering a prize of $10.00 in gold to anyone suggesting a name that would be accepted. Over three thousand names were sent in from all parts of the country, even from far away New Zealand and Australia, in which countries the author's marches are universal favorites. Included in the letters received was one from Mr. W. C. Bates, Secretary of the Sheffield Advertising Agency of New York and Chicago, in which he suggested the name The Home Coming March. After due consideration, this name was accepted, and the prize was awarded and paid to Mr. Bates, who stated that he was prompted to recommend this name on account of having been present during the impressive celebration of Old Home Week in Boston, Mass., last year. Probably no one idea is so universally dominant in the mind of the Human Race as that of home, or matters pertaining to home. The author believes that the name selected is one that will appeal to everyone; as the many pleasant associations with the words Home Coming are almost without limit. The title page of this march is without any exception the handsomest seen on a piece of music. The main body of the title pace represents a street scene, with buildings decorated and shows a handsome royal Arch of Welcome in the foreground, gaily decorated with flags, emblems, and bunting. A band is shown passing under the arch, leading a procession of the Home Guard, and thousands of people waving handkerchiefs, banners, flags, etc. Four smaller scenes also appear on the page, one representing the Home Coming of the soldier from war; another scene shows the Home Coming of the sailor boys embarking from their battleships; another scene represents the Home Coming reunion of the family and loved ones; the fourth scene represents the Home Coming of the father from work, where a little tot has been watching and waiting, and runs to meet him. The whole design of the title page is then surrounded by a border of differently designed medallions, on which appears the names of all the States of the Union, making without a doubt, the most unique and attractive title page ever conceived for a piece of music. One thing Paull mastered early in his career was the art of overstatement! Musically, this march is beginning to show the repetitiveness of many of Paull's works, especially evident as time passed. Once Paull found the formula (a fabulous cover and a playable, rousing march) that sold music, he stuck with it and was quite successful as a result. This arrangement is for Full Concert Band with the original optional piano part ( Not on the score). There are parts for Trombones 1 and 2 in TC and BC as well as parts of Euphonium in TC and BC. The MP3 was recorded with NotePerformer 3.Grade = 3.5 Duration =.

Concert Band - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1007977 Composed by Herman Koenig. Arranged by John M. Laverty. Romantic Period. Score and parts. 113 pages. Zephyrwindmusic.com #4348177. Published by zephyrwindmusic.com (A0.1007977). The Trumpet Polka, first published in 1856 as part of the Jullien Military Band Journal is a typical composition composed for and used as dance music during the Victorian era. It employees both trumpets and cornets, showcasing the trumpets. The form is that of a dance piece, with large repeated sections designed to be choreographed by a large group of dances, an activity popular at the time. While there is much known about Herman Koenig (1815-1870), there is much that is still somewhat of a mystery, like exactly where he was born and died. What is known is that he was perhaps the ï¬rst cornetist who was indeed an international star. Born in Germany, he became well-known in London as a featured soloist in Louis Jullien’s famous Drury Lane Orchestra in the 1840s. His travels took him to America in 1853 with Jullien in what was the ï¬rst major tour of a European orchestra in America. He also played violin, was a composer and publisher, a music educator, and he helped design and market a cornet, what is known today as the Koenig Cornet.

Goin' Home For Band (also called Going Home)Based on the Largo from the New World Symphony By Antonin Dvorak Arranged by Jari Villanueva ScoreSet of PartsSubstitute part for Baritone TC providedGoin' Home, is based on the Czech composer Antonin Dvorak's famous Largo theme from his Symphony No. 9 (5) (From the New World), Op. 95. His symphony was composed while he was in America and was first performed by the New York Philharmonic at Carnegie Hall on December 16, 1893. It has been said that Dvorak's themes in his symphony were inspired by American folk melodies, especially Afro-American or American Indian. But his themes are just as similar to Bohemian folk music and most likely from that music. This arrangement is based on the one played in the movie Clear and Present Danger by the United States Air Force Band. It has been used at presidential funerals for the departure ceremonies at Andrews Air Force Base for Presidents Reagan, Ford and Bush. It was used in 1998 for the dis-interment ceremony for the Vietnam Unknown at Arlington National Cemetery and is still used today by military bands at Arlington.Jari Villanueva earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University and a Master of Music from Kent State University, Ohio. He retired from the US Air Force Band in Washington DC where he spent 23 years as a trumpeter, bugler and staff arranger. He started his publishing company JV MUSIC in 1995. A student of Bill Holcombe, he continues writing for different ensembles and his arrangements are played by bands, brass ensembles and brass quintets all over the country.https://youtu.be/hflXQEZtoCk
