String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.734620 Composed by Eliot Daniel. Arranged by Dennis Ruello. Contemporary. Score and parts. 10 pages. Chicory Music #6676835. Published by Chicory Music (A0.734620). On October 15, 1951, the very first episode of the I Love Lucy show aired on CBS and became the most watched TV show in the U.S. for four of its seven-year run. Fun trivia about the opening theme song is that during the first season the show opened with their sponsor Philip Morris’ animation of stick figure cartoons of Lucy and Desi climbing down a pack of Philip Morris cigarettes. It was scored with Ferde Grofé’s Jr. The Grand Canyon Suite theme (a composition from 1931).From the second season onwards, the I Love Lucy signature tune we all know so well became the main theme, and one of the most recognizable pieces of music on the planet. It was written by composer Eliot Daniel who cranked it out in an afternoon as a favor to his old Coast Guard buddy Jess Oppenheimer, the show’s producer. Since Daniel still had another year under his exclusive contract to Fox, he asked Oppenheimer to keep his name out of it. Consequently his name does not appear on first or the second season TV credits for what became one of the most popular TV themes. Later, Daniel did seek credit and received royalties from syndicated reruns for the rest of his life. The lyrics were written by Harold Adamson for an episode in the third season in which Lucy believes everyone has forgotten her birthday. So of course Ricky saves the day after a near disaster. This arrangement for String Orchestra plus optional Drum Set part remains faithful to the original.Performance Time Approx. 1 minute 25 seconds

Love Lifted Me (for Violin and Cello Duet with Piano accompaniment)

Piano Trio,String Ensemble Cello,Piano,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.565903 By Sharon Wilson. By Howard E. Smith. Arranged by Sharon Wilson. Easter,Praise & Worship,Romantic Period,Sacred. Score and parts. 20 pages. Sharon Wilson #6522161. Published by Sharon Wilson (A0.565903). This inspiring hymn by Howard E. Smith is arranged as an instrumental trio (for VIOLIN and CELLO duet with PIANO accompaniment). All parts get to lead with the melody at times (even the piano, though only briefly at the end) making it fun for all players and adding variety for the listeners. The VIOLIN plays the melody for the first verse and chorus, then the CELLO leads with the melody for the second verse and the two parts alternate on the final chorus. This beautiful, uplifting instrumental arrangement of a favorite Gospel song is an ideal selection for a church setting. Duration 4:00.The range for each instrument is as follows: VIOLIN – F#4 to B5; CELLO – B2 to D4. For both the VIOLIN and CELLO, all notes are playable in the first position making this piece an excellent choice for early intermediate string players. Brass Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.808691 Composed by James Johnston Stewart and Sergei Prokofiev. Arranged by F. Leslie Smith. Contemporary. Score and parts. 18 pages. Sweetwater Brass Press #4295617. Published by Sweetwater Brass Press (A0.808691). Sergei Prokofiev’s comic opera, The Love for Three Oranges, Op. 33, was first produced in Chicago’s Auditorium Theatre in 1921. Prokofiev subsequently composed a concert suite from six of the opera’s selections. Of these, the March is probably best known. It was adopted as the theme song for a popular radio series, The FBI in Peace and War, which ran on CBS 1944-1958. Through its use on the program, listeners became familiar with the music and were so impressed that it was recorded and published independently as The FBI March. Because of its bold, driving and rhythmic nature, the March is well suited for a brass group, and makes for an exciting experience for both musicians and audience. This arrangement, written for brass quintet using trumpets pitched in C, was completed in 2012 and runs about 1 minute, 38 seconds. (A Bb-trumpets version is also available.) The arranger, Les Smith, can be reached at lessmith@ufl.edu. If you liked this one, check out Les’ Entry of the Graduates: Processional, Funeral March of a Marionette, Golliwog’s Cake Walk, Marche from Sylvia, March Militaires and War March of the Priests (from Athalia). My goal is to create something that sounds beautiful as a standalone piece of music and, most importantly, that it also makes pianistic sense. Each of my arrangements is made for a specific student, so the results will vary in terms of playing level. Most decisions are based on their current skills and abilities, or where I would like for them to be when they complete the piece. This arrangement was made for two siblings, 10 and 12 at the time! I would consider them both early intermediate, easily playing at Elementary IV NFMC class. This piece was quite the challenge at first. There are some tricky sections with unison runs. Playing cleanly is important here. Pedal should not be used very much except were notated. A definite crowd pleaser. (If you listen to the video, those are my students performing at an Honors Recital—very proud of them!) Pedal and fingering suggestions are included.
