Performance Time: 3:00 Minutes On the evening of November 9, 2009, while rehearsing some Christmas music at the piano, inspiration for composing a holiday piano solo came to me after playing the beautiful Christmas classic Silent Night. After a few minutes of creating a melody, I quickly wrote down some of the ideas for this song while imagining the anticipation of Christmas with family and friends and the traditional custom of giving gifts. What would be the most natural gift to give anyone, I thought. After finishing the song, the answer became apparent - the silent gift of a smile and thus the title Silent Gifts. Many months passed before we settled on wonderful words that express our intention of the gift of a smile at Christmas. Don's perfect lyrics add a brand new dimension to the song. This Holiday song has a catchy melody with seasonal lyrics. It's ideal for vocalists at concerts who wanted to spread a cheerful and meaningful message for Christmas. Many of these chords include jazz ninths.
