The title reflects this pieces imagery rather than the musical form, as it is not an actual fantasy. It should be noted that Soviet émigré Alexander Warenberg, a composer for film and television, arranged Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 2 as a concertante work for piano and orchestra. The work contains majority of the source material from Rachmaninoff's Second Symphony with some original scoring by Warenberg, modification of the original score and a change to many of the score?s harmonies "to improve the sound and balance". Technically, it is Warenberg's work that I refer to here. |
