Added by kaminsky, 30 Jun 2012 Violin-piano duet, 1928 by Eduard Frank. Eduard Frank is an unknown composer who left this charming piece, dedicated to Hugo Gottesmann, with Ludwig Kern who ran a music shop and small scale publishing business in Vienna 1, Kolowratring 9 (now Schubert Ring). The shop, publishing business, and any traces of Frank and Kern all vanished during German occupation of Austria during World War II. Hugo Gottesmann had left Vienna in the early 30TH and settled down in the United States to teach and conduct, also becoming a member of the famous Adolf Busch Quartet. This forgotten song, likely not having been performed for over 80 years, is entertaining with a touch of sensuality, suggested to be played con-sordino with harp accompaniment, or with piano, then of course without sordino. |
