Added by bhannavichaya-vadhanasiriphongs, 03 May 2013 This String Quartet, written under concept of character piece, not Sonata-Formed String Quartet, inspired from 7 selected aquatic specimens- Mahachai Betta, Mahseer Barb, Australian Red-Clawed Crayfish, Freshwater White-Rimmed Stingray, Red-Eared Slider, Green-backed Mullet and Freshwater Mussel. These animal characters are first topic for composer to describe their behavior through composer’s intellect. Each specimen, was described through music, for about a minute, with 12-20 bars for each species. Each selected specimen has their own characteristic. Some species are very active, while some rarely move around and spend whole day rest at the bottom of the tank. Some lives in the above level of the tank, while some live at the middle level, or even bottom level. The species behavior strongly effects composer’s decision on writing piece. Finally, the composer hopes that String Quartet No. 2 will be a great candidate piece for TICF 2013 competition. |
