| Added by praxis-leye-pelicae, 28 Jan 2014 Eclosión (Upsurge) explores the meaning of the word, within a musical language developed by a small ensemble and the computer. Each acoustic instrument feeds the computer in different stages of the piece. The word becomes music when different instruments or all together performs sudden or abrupt strong increase of events. The Piano doubles as a third percussionist while playing thick, either loud or soft clusters, but also it blends into the Flute, by playing quiet by moment, naïve melodies, or simply by creating counterpoints to the percussion which then will be taken and developed by the Flute. The Percussion plays the Up surging element, almost throughout the whole piece. And in certain sections, it plays a role of being almost outside the piece, while the Piano and the Flute draw a few melodic lines. Finally, if the instruments doesn’t plays any sound, the computer might use pre-recorded sounds to exist and generate the upsurge, though, the Computer might act as cohesive element, not just between instruments, but also between sections. Eclosión was started at home, in Rosario, Argentina, and it was finished while doing an MA in Sonic Arts, at the Sonic Arts Research Centre, Belfast. It’s heavily inspired by Sebastián Castagna’s music, and therefore, it is dedicated to him, for his support and inspiration. | |||
