Une belle figure rêveuse qui plane en ré majeur sur une basse immobile ouvre et ferme ce mouvement. Au centre, on retrouve la tonalité de do, mais à l'inverse des autres mouvements, c'est le mode mineur qui succède au majeur, dans une simple juxtaposition où l'ambiance est à l'attente, à la suspension. Remarquable raffinement d'écriture.
A beautiful dreamy melody hovering in D major on a static bass opens and closes the movement. In the middle of it, we find again the tonality of C, but unlike the other movements, it's the minor mode which follows the major one, in a simple juxtaposition where the atmosphere is waiting, in suspension. Remarkable refinement of writing.
