Added by crosby3145, 16 Feb 2020 This is actually a medley of a few different hymns. You get "I'm Going Home" twice in it, but also interspersed are When All Thy Mercies, O My God (words by Joseph Addison; music from Gardiner's Sacred Melodies, 1882) and Sevenfold Amen (by John Steiner). Both I'm Going Home and When All Thy Mercies mention arriving in Heaven, and their tunes go nicely together--Sevenfold Amen provides a good ending. Perfect for offertory or other special service music-- I’m Going Home 1. My heav’nly home is bright and fair, Nor pain nor death can enter there; Its glitt’ring tow’rs the sun outshine, That heav’nly mansion shall be mine. 2. My Father’s house is built on high, Far, far above the starry sky; When from this earthly prison free, That heav’nly mansion mine shall be. 3. Let others seek a home below, Which flames devour or waves o’erflow; Be mine a happier lot to own A heav’nly mansion near the throne. Chorus: I’m going home, I’m going home, I’m going home to die no more; To die no more, to die no more— I’m going home to die no more. When All Thy Mercies, O My God 1. When all Thy mercies, O my God, My rising soul surveys, Transported with the view, I’m lost, In wonder, love and praise. 2. Unnumbered comforts to my soul Thy tender care bestowed, Before my infant heart conceived From whom those comforts flowed. 3. When worn with sickness, oft has Thou With health renewed my face; And, when in sins and sorrows bowed, Revived my soul with grace. 4. Thru ev’ry period of my life Thy goodness I’ll pursue, And after death, in distant worlds, The glorious theme renew. |
