Added by michelnossorguine, 19 Apr 2024 These antiphons of the Annunciation are harmonizations based on the typical melody of the prayer to the Virgin, at Sunday vespers of the 1st tone, called “Joy of the Heavenly Orders”. This melody, born in the “Optino Desert” monastery (Western Russia), serves as a model for many other prayers of the high holidays. It is one of the most famous melodies in Russia. Here are two harmonizations for men's choir, adapted to four antiphons for the Feast of the Annunciation. |
