To mark .the 250th anniversary of Schott Music, these treasures have been uncovered from the archives, reedited and presented in these beautiful editions. .This anthology is aimed at intermediate to advanced clarinetists looking for some .interesting new discoveries .away from the .standard repertoire. Containing works largely from the Romantic era, these are virtuoso pieces de resistance and encores, expressive character pieces, gems of salon music .and elaborate arrangements of well-known melodies and themes. Many of the original compositions and arrangements were written by major instrumentalists of the 19th century.

Jorg Widmann, an internationally sought-after soloist and professor of clarinet at the Freiburg Musikhochschule, displays the exquisite refinement of contemporary clarinet sound in 'Funf Bruchstucke' (already published) for clarinet and piano (KLB 54) and in the present 'Fantasie' for solo clarinet. While noise, as a means of expression, is given much attention in 'Funf Bruchstucke', 'Fantasie' is largely based on the usual Romantic melodious sound, though this time with ironic side trips into dance, klezmer and jazz music, the clarinet's equivalent of light music.

'Fantasie' for solo clarinet is my first real piece for my own instrument, the clarinet. With its eccentric virtuosity and its cheerful, ironic fundamental character, it reflects the experience with Stravinsky's 3 Pieces for solo clarinet of 1919 and the tonal innovations which did not appear in music before Carl Maria von Weber's notation for the clarinet, and takes them further in a new way. It is a little imaginary scene uniting the dialogues of different people in close proximity in the spirit of the commedia dell'arte.

Andante &. Tarantella was composed by Sir Edward German in 1892. This melodious piece is written in the most suitable position for clarinet and is aimed at moderately advanced players. The quiet andante section is followed by a little cadenza which opens the piece towards the tarantella.
The piece is perfect for competitions or concerts - and also as an original encore.
This edition is part of the new Schott Student Edition series which offers varied literature at five different levels of difficulty and provides practising tips and information by the editor Rudolf Mauz (Die frohliche Klarinette).

The Austrian clarinettist and composer Alfred Uhl (1909-92), born and trained in Vienna, has gained an international reputation for his film music scores, orchestral and chamber music works. His works move in a tonal framework, combining a differentiated rhythm and catchy melody. Thus, Uhl developed his own personal humorous style which he also realized in his studies. His study cycle is a standard work of teaching literature for clarinet. Almost every aspect of clarinet playing technique is .covered in Uhl's study work. Apart from the technical educational goal, the musical content gets its fair share too: each study work is a little character piece which helps the clarinettist to effectively express his musical imagination independently of technical obstacles. The music has been carefully edited to create stylistic, authentic arrangements. Demonstration recordings of all tunes as well as play-along versions are available as downloads.

Escala Musical o Escala Diatónica - Estudio de Escalas Mayores y Menores Para Clarinetes
La Escala Musical o Diatónica se define como una secuencia ordenada de notas naturales y sonidos musicales. Estas notas se organizan según una estructura y un orden determinado, generalmente por su altura o entonación. En una escala ascendente, cada nota es más aguda que la anterior, mientras que en una escala descendente, cada sonido es más grave que el anterior. La progresión en la escala continúa hasta incluir todas las notas necesarias. Por lo tanto, la Escala Diatónica es una sucesión de siete sonidos más la repetición del primero, dispuestos por grados conjuntos según las leyes de tonalidad.
La función principal de la Escala es establecer la base tonal de una melodía o composición musical. Gracias a la serie de sonidos que conforman una Escala Musical, se pueden realizar combinaciones entre ellos para generar nuevas sonoridades y crear bases armónicas para desarrollar un ambiente sonoro.
