Flute, Woodwind Quartet, Woodwind Choir or Ensemble - Easy/Beginner - Digital Download Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750). Baroque Period, Sacred, Classroom, European, Easter. Score, Set of Parts. 7 pages. Published by KrahenfuBlieder
Arioso is part of Johann Sebastian Bach's Cantata 156 which corresponds to the same number in his B.W.V. catalog. The symphony was probably derived from an earlier oboe concerto and was later adapted as part of Bach's Concerto for harpsichord in F minor. This instrumental quartet version was created with ensemble practice in mind for beginning music school students who want more contact with Baroque music, ideal also for liturgical performance in churches, as it is a sacred work. This version lasts 2:25 minutes with the original melody adapted with the harmony divided between the voices of the performers.

Flute and Harp - Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750). Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Baroque Period, Repertoire, Wedding, Funeral, Recital. Score, Set of Parts. 7 pages. Published by jmsgu3
Item Number: S0.976609 "Air on a G String" is the popular nickname for the "Air" from Orchestral Suite #3 in D Major, BWV 1068 by J. S. Bach. Duration: 5:53 (taking both repeats). Level: Intermediate and up. Programming: Great choice for recitals and very useful for almost any church service, reception, wedding or any event where insightful meditation is desired. This music is very well known and admired by nearly everyone, so you will have an advantage in providing something familiar and well cherished for your audience. This is the piece to demonstrate dynamic control, tone quality and strategic phrasing of long melodic lines. Air on a G String Bach: Air on a G String - Bach: Air on a G String - ~ Bach composed three noteworthy Orchestral Suites. He wrote his third orchestral suite, BWV 1068 in D, for his Collegium Musicum. The Overture of the suite features a double-dotted rhythm in the French style and employs the entire ensemble: trumpet trio, timpani, oboe duet, and strings. The strings were the typical 2 violin parts, viola part, and continuo of cello and harpsichord. ?Air? - the title of the second movement, is, by contrast, scored only for the strings. It seems like this work was entitled ?Air on a G String? not by Bach, but by a nineteenth-century violinist named August Wilhelmj. He arranged the Air such that the first violin part was performed by a single soloist ? and entirely on the G String.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1137818 Composed by Christian Petzold, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Martin Luther. Arranged by Ander. Baroque,Easter,Renaissance,Sacred,Wedding. 44 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #738076. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1137818). This album contains 5 of Johann Sebastian Bach's most famous and versatile pieces for woodwind quartet, all very well suited for the beginners who want to get to know the baroque repertoire. They are also suitable for performances at events such as: weddings, Christian and church ceremonies, Easter, and academic recitals or concerts. They can be used in music institutions and by teachers as repertoire material and study methods, either for performance or instrumental technique. This collection includes a totally free bonus for you to enjoy: Martin Luther's A Mighty Fortress is Our God, a Renaissance sacred song for choir, which has been adapted for this set. 1: Air on the G String - The original piece is part of Johann Sebastian Bach's Suite No. 3 for orchestra, in D Major, BWV 1068, written for Prince Leopold of Anhalt. The so-called Air on the G String dates from one of these latter employments. In the service of the Prince of Cöthen, Bach composed not only the famous Brandenburg Concertos, but also several orchestral suites, from the third of which comes the Air on the G String. This curious title derives from a later arrangement of this piece for violin solo, in which the melody is played entirely on the lower, higher string of the instrument. 2: Arioso - The Cantata 156 (BWV 156) was written for the third Sunday after Epiphany in 1729, and was first performed on January 23 of that year. The text is by Picander, one of Bach's favorite librettists. Of the four cantatas written by Bach for the feast, it was the last and only one scored for solo voice. This is a choral cantata, employing a choral melody in several movements. Cantata 156, in fact, employs two different choral melodies and texts in the second and sixth movements. A cantata is a sung symphony consisting of several parts, one of which is the Arioso, which is the initial instrumental part. 3: Jesu, joy of man's desiring - This is one of Bach's most beautiful cantatas, made famous by the Jesus the Joy of Men chorus. It was originally composed for Advent 1716 in Weimar. Years later, already in Leipzig, Advent was tempus clausum, there was no music in the churches. Bach then reworked it for the Feast of Mary's Visitation. It is the final chorale of the cantata Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben. Although it is the 32nd cantata composed by Bach, of those that have survived, it was given BWV 147 in the complete catalog of his works. 4: O Jesulein süss, o Jesulein mild - The Jesulein süß, the Jesulein mild is an original traditional German choral melody for voice and continuous bass arranged by Johann Sebastian Bach around 1735. With lyrics by Valentin Thilo, O Jesulein süss is a sacred melody adapted and catalogued as BWV 493. The first translation is by Dirk van Hogendorp, who made it more of a song for the time of suffering. 5: Minuet in G major - This famous piece has traditionally been attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach, as it appears in the Notebook for Anna Magdalena , a notebook that Bach gave to his wife Anna Magdalena in 1725 and which was to be filled with the favorite selections of Bach family members. However, recent research has concluded that this minuet, sometimes referred to as BWV Anhang 114. was probably composed by Christian Petzold, a German composer and organist contemporary with Bach. Bonus: A Mighty Fortress is Our God, by Martin Luther - Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott is a hymn written by Martin Luther probably before 1529. The melody was also considered his work for a long time, but it was created at least with the collaboration of Johann Walter. The song is of great symbolic power for Protestantism, where it is also known as Deus noster refugium et virtus. Considered one of the most important hymns in the history of Christianity, it was considered by the Christian poet Johann Heirich Heine (1797-1856) to be the Marseillaise of the Reformation, in an allusion to the French national anthem.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Flute - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.957286 Composed by Bach, Martin Luther. Arranged by Ander. Baroque,Easter,Renaissance,Sacred,Wedding. 51 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #6748223. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.957286). This album contains 5 of Johann Sebastian Bach's most famous and versatile pieces for flute choir quintet, all very well suited for the beginners who want to get to know the baroque repertoire. You can also buy each one individually by checking right at the end of each description of each work.1: Air on the G String - The original piece is part of Johann Sebastian Bach's Suite No. ID: S0.11897272: Arioso - The Cantata 156 (BWV 156) was written for the third Sunday after Epiphany in 1729, and was first performed on January 23 of that year. ID: S0.11899613: Jesu, joy of man's desiring - This is one of Bach's most beautiful cantatas, made famous by the Jesus the Joy of Men chorus. ID: S0.11900114: O Jesulein süss, o Jesulein mild - The Jesulein süß, the Jesulein mild is an original traditional German choral melody for voice and continuous bass arranged by Johann Sebastian Bach around 1735. With lyrics by Valentin Thilo, O Jesulein süss is a sacred melody adapted and catalogued as BWV 493. The first translation is by Dirk van Hogendorp, who made it more of a song for the time of suffering. ID: S0.11901175: Minuet in G major - This famous piece has traditionally been attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach, as it appears in the Notebook for Anna Magdalena , a notebook that Bach gave to his wife Anna Magdalena in 1725 and which was to be filled with the favorite selections of Bach family members. However, recent research has concluded that this minuet, sometimes referred to as BWV Anhang 114. was probably composed by Christian Petzold, a German composer and organist contemporary with Bach. ID: S0.1190347Bonuses: A Mighty Fortress is Our God, by Martin Luther - Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott is a hymn written by Martin Luther probably before 1529. Johann Sebastian Bach Trio-Sonata in G major for three flutes

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Trio Flute - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1203793 By Helene Schulthess. By Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Helene Schulthess. Baroque,Chamber,Instructional,Standards,Traditional. 22 pages. Helene Schulthess #802355. Published by Helene Schulthess (A0.1203793). The trio sonatas BWV 525 - 530 were written between 1727 and 1732. According to the Bach biographer Johann Nikolaus Forkel, Bach wrote them as teaching material for his eldest son Wilhelm Friedemann Bach.Within the complete works for organ, the trio sonatas deserve special attention, for what is special about these compositions is that the organ sounds like chamber music. With the possibilities of the many colours that the instrument possesses, one person can play three musicians at the same time. The trio sonata is originally in E flat major. This arrangement for three flutes is transposed to G major.

Flute,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549224 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Baroque,Holiday,Standards,Wedding. Score and part. 9 pages. Jmsgu3 #3468208. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549224). J. S. Bach BWV 508. Bist du bei mir Bach adapted this aria from a lost Stölzel opera called Diomedes. He changed the original orchestral instrumentation to soprano, strings, and continuo.  He also modified the voice-leading making it sound more like a Bach composition. The work appears as BWV 508 No. 25 in the Anna Magdalena Notebook No. 2.  Source Only a few remnants of the original opera have survived. Historians speculate that Anna Magdalena got the song from the Leipzig Opera after the bankruptcy of 1720. Chances are good, though, that the tune was a favorite of everyone in Leipzig at the time.  Lyrics When thou art near, I go with joyTo death and to my rest.O how joyous would my end be,If your fair hands      Would close my faithful eyes. - Unknown Bach Overview First of all, Johann Sebastian Bach is maybe the greatest composer in music history. Certainly, he was prolific. As a result, everyone has heard of his works. Furthermore, these works number well over a thousand. It seems like people are probably most familiar with instrumental works such as the Brandenburg Concertos, and the Goldberg Variations. But, similarly famous are such noteworthy works as the Well-Tempered Clavier, the Musical Offering, and certainly the Art of Fugue. Seems like his most famous vocal works include the most noteworthy Mass in B Minor. Also, most noteworthy are the St. John Passion, and indeed the Christmas Oratorio.  History Bach came from a long line of musicians and above all, composers. Consequently, he, first of all, pursued a career as a church organist. So as a result, he gained employment in various Protestant churches in Germany. For a while, he worked as a court musician in Weimar and Köthen. Here he probably developed his organ style and likewise his chamber music style. Eventually, he, therefore, gained an appointment as Cantor of St. Thomas in Leipzig. Here he worked until difficulties with his employer ultimately drove him away. The King of Poland finally appointed him as court composer.  Style It seems like Bach created a fascinating new international style. He synthesized elements of the most noteworthy European music ideas into his new style. Even more, this new style was probably his synthesis of European musical rhythm and form. Furthermore, he demonstrated a complete mastery of counterpoint and motivic development. His sense of harmonic organization probably propelled him to the top. Revival        Mendelssohn conducted a Bach revival in the nineteenth century. His effort probably helped to re-familiarize the public with the magnitude of Bach’s works. During this period, scholars published many noteworthy Bach biographies. Moreover, Wolfgang Schmieder published the BWV (Bach Werke Verzeichnis). As a result, this is now the official catalog of his entire artistic output. The BWV number allows us to locate a work in the catalog. Sometimes scholars will simply use an S (Schmieder) as an abbreviation for BWV.  Voyager NASA launched two Voyager spacecraft in 1977. Onboard are phonograph records with sounds, music, and images of life on Earth. The purpose of the launch was to inform intelligent extraterrestrial life forms about conditions on Earth. The music on the disc is varied. There is Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Stravinsky among others. However, because Bach is so important in our music history, it contains three times more Bach than all the others combined.
