10 Spooky Halloween Duets is a fun collection of original compositions by David McKeown for one Flute and one Alto Saxophone.

Each duet is a light-hearted portrait of a different Halloween character. Witches, ghosts, vampires and other favourites appear, with biographical details on each title page. The duets cover many musical styles, from classical to jazz and beyond.

Each piece explores a different style and flavour of Latin music, from the Rumbas, Salsas and Mambos of Cuba, to the Sambas and Bossas of Brazil, and on to the Calypsos and Merengues of the Caribbean. Mexico is represented by the Huapango, Venezuela and Colombia by the Joropo, and Argentina and Uruguay by the Tango.

Most of these duets are ideal for players of an Intermediate standard, with two or three more suitable for Advanced Intermediate. This duet is inspired by the French Chanson style associated with caf� life in Paris and beyond. This music has its roots in La Belle Epoque and was popularized by singers such as �dith Piaf, Jacques Brel and Charles Aznavour. Long associated with romance, L?Amour is just what?s needed when love is in the air.

L?Amour is written for players at an intermediate standard and upwards. The melody should always flow; following the articulation in the score and adding plenty of expression will help convey the style. L?Amour has a performance time of around three minutes.

Tango d?Elinora is an exciting original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Alto Saxophone.

This duet is written in the style of early twentieth century Tango music. Tango first appeared as in the late nineteenth century in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but it wasn?t long before the dance craze spread to North America and Europe. Performers like Carlos Gardel were the international superstars of their day. More recently the Nuevo Tango of Astor Piazzolla and others has pushed the boundaries and ensured that Tango is still a vibrant art form today.

If you play to an intermediate standard and upwards, then you and your audience will enjoy this piece. Rhythms should be lightly articulated with the first beat in the bar always strong; the melody should always flow and following the articulation in the score will help convey the style.
