Cecile Chaminade was born in Paris in 1857. Her music is accessible and entertaining, but also with a depth to it that remains of musical interest to this day. Probably her flute concerto is the piece best known, but she wrote a great many fine pieces. This piece, the Pastorale Op. 114 was written for piano and published in 1904. This arrangement is set for 3 flutes by John Gibson.

Johann Wilhelm Gabrielski (1791 - 1846) was a flutist in Berlin, and although he and his works are not as well-known, it is said that Friedrich Kuhlau - who most flutists today know of - dedicated his only flute quartet to Gabrielski.

This flute trio was originally written with most of the melody and interesting passages played by the 1st flute. I enjoy playing pieces that are a bit more equal among all players, so I re-arranged this piece in that manner.

This is a great recital piece.

This arrangement is good for school band student and Flute beginners.

This is a beautiful, playable arrangement for three flutes. Keep in mind that "easy" for one is not necessarily "easy" for another. This is not a "beginner" arrangement. It is an arrangement with less notes in it than the regular arrangement, and easier rhythms where applicable.
