Brass Ensemble Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.773759 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Anthony Giamanco. Christian,Christmas,Concert,Sacred,Standards. Score and parts. 11 pages. Whole Tone Press #4833651. Published by Whole Tone Press (A0.773759). This delightful intermediate-level arrangement of The First Nowell for trombone trio will become the highlight of your Christmas worship service, concert or recital. With 2nd trombone handling the bulk of the melody, the first and 3rd trombones create a lovely harmonic tapestry. The wind writing is pretty straightforward but interesting, with some unexpected twists. Amateur ensembles will enjoy learning this, and it can be mastered by a good high school trio. Pros will be able to sight read the piece, but will find it more than satisfying to play. Audiences will love it! Anthony Giamanco is a member of ASCAP. His many piano, organ, choir, and chamber works are in the catalogs of numerous publishers including GIA, Shawnee Press, Alfred, Augsburg Fortress, Lorenz, and others. His pieces also can be purchased through sheetmusicplus.com and JW Pepper. Anthony's music can be heard on his website, anthonygiamanco.com, and on YouTube. Contact info: tony@shalomlife.org.

Concerto for Trombone and Piano accompaniment (piano reduction)

Piano,Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.810983 Composed by Cherry Class…
(+)
Piano,Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.810983 Composed by Cherry Classics Music. Arranged by John, W., and Ware. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and part. 63 pages. Gordon Cherry #4601711. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.810983). This fine work has sat dormant for many years and has now come to light thanks to the efforts of Charlie Vernon, Bass Trombonist of the Chicago Symphony, who performed this virtuoso work as a young performer. The concerto is in the standard three movement form: Fast, slow, fast. This publication is a reduction from the original orchestral version (to be released at some point in the future). Here is a description of the Concerto by the composer, John W. Ware. I started on the trombone concerto in my junior year studying composition at Indiana University. While working on it, I learned of an opportunity to make it sort of a thesis piece (though students didn't write a thesis in composition while an undergrad). The original version was for trombone with string orchestra, and it was performed by the IU String Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Arthur Corra, with Robert Priez, trombone, as part of my senior composition recital. I thought the performance was quite good (Priez played extraordinarily well), and the piece received a newspaper review in the Indiana Daily Student, in which the reviewer wrote that the work was almost too exciting. I thought at the time that he had given me and my music a fine compliment. I made a piano version of the accompaniment, shortening and tightening the first movement, for performances in 1966; I made a second revision in 1967 for a performance by E. J. Eaton, trombonist at the University of Tennessee at Martin, arriving at the form in which the work exists now. The first movement is in fairly normal sonata-allegro form, in the key of A minor. It alternates between assertive and more thoughtful moods. There is no introduction; the soloist enters immediately and dominates much of the movement. The main theme is--by some manipulation--a source for most of the other themes, and all of the themes are used in close proximity to each other, including contrapuntal combinations, especially near the end. Originally the movement included a lengthy fugato, now much shortened and including a stretto that builds and subsides before a cadenza leading to a coda based on both the principal and secondary themes. Key relations in this movement, as in the other two, are quite free and often chromatic, with frequent third-relations; but returns to the tonic at the end are emphatic. The writing is challenging for both soloist and accompanist; the piece is substantial, requiring technique and stamina. The second movement is in F minor and is also built on both contrast and close relationships between the main and secondary themes. The main theme is heard in the piano part before the soloist enters. The mood is more lyric than in the first movement, but with dramatic episodes also. In this movement are some definite derivations from themes in the first movement. The ending is a sort of lengthened shadow of the opening. The finale returns to A minor, with themes slightly related to polonaise rhythms, but with strong echoes of first-movement themes. Here, too, dramatic and lyric episodes alternate, with dotted rhythms frequently propelling the music forward. The introduction is a brief and simple preparation for the solo entry. Later in the movement, a very brief, slightly slower section is soon overtaken by the original tempo. Toward the end, there is a second cadenza, again leading to a swift and energetic coda. The work is about 20 minutes in length and is appropriate for advanced performers.

Piano,Tenor Trombone - Digital Download SKU: A0.1362757 Composed by Joachim Bruun de Neergaard. Arranged by Niels-Ole Bo Johansen. 20th Century,Romantic Period. Score and part. 10 pages. Gordon Cherry #947132. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.1362757). Niels-Ole Bo Johansen has recently discovered a hidden treasure of relatively unknown and forgotten works of Danish origin for the Trombone from the early 20th Century. This series of music will be subtitled The Danish Trombone Heritage and will be published by Cherry Classics over the next while. Below is Niels' description of Romance, Op. 13 by Joachim Bruun de Neergaard composed in 1915.Anton Hansen's (father of the Danish School for Trombone) first meeting with Joachim Bruun de Neergaard (1877-1929) was rather a disastrous one. Hansen an extraordinary Trombonist, also a very fine pianist, was hired to play at a dinner dance at Skjoldnæsholm manor. A young man insisted on playing along with the tunes Hansen performed - on a terribly out -of-tune ocarina. Hansen writes in his memoirs that his first thought was that the young man was slightly retarded. As it turned out, he was the son of the family living in the manor, which made the situation even more awkward. That young man, Joachim Bruun de Neergaard was not the slightest bit retarded. He was on the contrary highly intelligent and managed, in addition to his composition studies, to attain a degree in law with the highest honors. The Romance for Trombone and Orchestra, here in the version for Trombone and Piano, reveals a composer with a very fine sense of the trombone’s singing qualities. This work is perfect for advanced intermediate performers and is almost 7 minutes in length.Trombone soloist Johansen and his collaborator, Pianist Erik Kaltoft beautiifully perform Romance on their 2018 album The French Connection. Below is a sample of the work (available on Apple Music and as a CD).

Symphonie Fantastique for Trombone Quartet

Brass Ensemble Bass Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.955716 Composed by Hector Berlioz. Arranged by Phil Thrift. Classical. Score and parts. 47 pages. Phil Thrift #5306259. Published by Phil Thrift (A0.955716). This trombone quartet arrangement of Hector Berlioz’ Symphonie Fantastique contains all the well-known themes of the full orchestral symphony. The beginning is identical with the original, but then proceeds immediately to the March to the Scaffold of the fourth movement. The famous idée fixe of the symphony is first heard at measure 72, and this is followed by other themes from the first movement. The adagio at measure 164 re-creates the pastoral duet of the symphony’s third movement. As indicated on the charts, the first trombone should play this section offstage (as for the oboist in the original), while the others remain on stage. If this is not possible, then the first trombone should play this section muted. This very reflective interlude is followed by my personal favorite, the wondrously jolly waltz from the symphony’s second movement. This is followed by the Witches’ Round Dance, a sort of fugue, which leads to the dies irae – played in four octaves here, with a high Eflat to test your first trombonist! The idée fixe is stated once again before the arrangement concludes in the same way as the original symphony. This is a light-hearted arrangement that is not intended to re-create exactly the grandeur of the original with its huge orchestral forces. Lasting up to 8 min 50 sec, depending on how fast you take some sections, this piece will require some stamina, but every player does get a break and the lead shifts between all four trombones. If you’re not familiar with the full orchestral version, then I suggest you listen to it before attempting this arrangement.Alternative tenor clef parts are included for the tenor trombones.

Large Ensemble Bass Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.955720 Composed by Hector Berlioz. Arranged by Phil Thrift. Classical,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 56 pages. Phil Thrift #5322013. Published by Phil Thrift (A0.955720). This, the trombone octet adaptation of my trombone quartet arrangement of Hector Berlioz’ Symphonie Fantastique, again features all the well-known themes of the full orchestral symphony. As indicated on the charts, the first trombone (alto) should play this section offstage (as for the oboist in the original), while the others remain on stage. If this is not possible, then the first trombone should play this section muted. This very reflective interlude is followed by my personal favorite, the wondrously jolly waltz from the symphony’s second movement. The Witches’ Round Dance, a sort of fugue, comes next, and leads to the dies irae – played in four octaves here, but in this octet version heard together with the Witches’ Round Dance. The idée fixe is stated once again before the arrangement concludes in the same way as the original symphony. This is a light-hearted arrangement that is not intended to re-create exactly the grandeur of the original with its huge orchestral forces. Lasting nearly 9 min, depending on how fast you take some sections, this piece will require some stamina, but with many sections arranged for two, three or four trombones, every player does get a break. The first part requires a very capable alto trombonist with a good high register.Player 1 plays alto throughout, player 2 switches between alto and tenor, and parts 7 and 8 are for bass trombone.Sensible page turns were impossible to incorporate in some of the parts while at the same time not exceeding four pages. So in those parts the players are instructed – during longer breaks – to fetch the next page in good time, which is easily possible if the parts are printed out on separate sheets. Players using tablets won’t have any problems, of course.

Published by David McKeown (A0.1118317). Scott Joplin is celebrated as the United States’ first well-known black composer, making his name as a writer of piano rags. His life was a constant struggle with adversity, and Joplin died relatively young in 1917, at the dawn of the recording age. Few remembered Joplin’s music until a revival in the 1970s brought The Entertainer and others to the world’s attention. Nowadays Scott Joplin has taken his rightful place in the gallery of great American composers. The Rags included in this collection are, The Entertainer, The Maple Leaf Rag, The Easy Winners, The Elite Syncopations and The Favorite. They have been arranged as solos for one Trombone with piano accompaniment, and include all sections of the original compositions. You will download one pdf file that contains both 22 pages of piano score and the 10 page solo part. These pieces are suitable for players at an intermediate and advanced intermediate level. Musicians will find these Ragtime solos ideal for formal and informal performances, light and fun, yet still a serious and vitally important part of the American musical heritage. The overall performance time for all five is around 25 minutes. Teachers will enjoy using these arrangements as a fun way to help with phrasing, syncopated rhythms and light articulation. Click on the YouTube link to see and hear samples from the collection. Dvorak Front and Center (Medley of A. Dvorak Pieces) for TROMBONE QUARTET

(+)
Brass Ensemble Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.872914 Composed by Antonin Dvorak. Arranged by P.A. Drahozal. 20th Century,Concert,Folk,Romantic Period,World. Score and parts. 18 pages. MusicPAD Music Publications #6057877. Published by MusicPAD Music Publications (A0.872914). This is a musically flowing compilation of several lighter selections authored by the legendary Antonin Dvorak and set for a trombone quartet. This challenging arrangement is the perfect addition to a college trombone recital or presentation piece. Lively, entertaining, engaging and full of beautiful counterpoint, Dvorak Front and Center is bound to be an audience pleaser from note one! Logically placed generous rehearsal markings are carefully set and a score is included to facilitate efficient preparation and rehearsal. There is an opportunity for an alto trombone double in the first part (not transposed). The first part does explore the very high register (triple D) but ossia notes are always included as an option. All parts are called upon for melodic playing as the lead line does move around. Thus, the 2nd and 3rd parts are called upon for a little high register playing too (not as high as the first though). Be advised- this is a challenging and very rewarding arrangement for advanced players. Trombone Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.799352 Composed by Drake Mabry. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 13 pages. Drake Mabry #2015075. Published by Drake Mabry (A0.799352). 9.28.85 was written in 1985 and the date refers to the date of completion, September 28, 1985. Excerpts of this piece are included in Benny Sluchin’s book on contemporary trombone excerpts. This work includes my invention of the idea of playing lip multiphonics. Here's the story. During the Spring of 1985, I participated in the l'atelier de recherche instrumental department for acoustic instrument exploration at IRCAM working with Pierre-Yves Artaud (flute), Daniel Kientzy (saxophone) and Benny Sluchin (trombone). Most of the research was based on looking at new ways to produce sound with acoustic instruments and the department was open to performers and composers. A few months after the IRCAM workshops Benny Sluchin and I decided to work on a piece for him. We worked together to explore various contemporary techniques which I might select for the piece. After a while I narrowed down my choices to a movement with air, one with lip multiphonics, and one using the spatial characteristics of the bell, singing, and sending sound out the back by an alternate F tube. Benny is great to work with as he’s a wonderful musician, anything is possible, he’s open to trying out new ideas and he’s a great human being. The perfect combination for a composer. First, about the lip multiphonics in the second movement. During one of our work sessions we looked at singing and playing multiphonics but I wanted something different. So I asked Benny what would happen if he placed his embouchure between two partials of the overtone series. The result was amazing!! A number of partials sounded at the same time and the textural colors were varied and beautiful. The only problem with this was the window for placing the embouchure was very narrow. Slightly too high or slightly too low would result in a terribly out of tune and uncentered partial. Reminded me of what a sick cow might sound like. This difficulty was less pronounced between partials of a fifth but became more difficult when the partials were closer together. Fourths were okay but major and minor third partials were extremely difficult and risky. We decided what the heck and I wrote the second movement knowing the risks. But when the embouchure is well placed it produces such a beautiful sound. Benny mentioned that the idea had a pedagogical side benefit. He said from being able to focus on placing the embouchure in such a limited ‘window’ it made placing the embouchure for normal note much easier. My invention has been used by other composers since including Xenakis in 1986 and an Icelandic composer a couple of years later. The alternate movement come about after Benny had played the piece for a couple of years. He’s able to get these multiphonics but realized that maybe there would not be many other players able to do so. To avoid the problem that this movement might scare players away from the piece we decided that it would be good to have an alternate movement which would use the same ideas but in a less stressful way for the performer. I thought this was a good idea and wrote, what for me, is a more meditative piece based on the same material. I also imagined that it could be played by itself if the player wished. There is a misprint in the score at the end of the first line where there appears a multiphonic based on placing the embouchure between an Eb and an A natural. The A should be an Ab. The first movement explores the subtleties of various vowel and consonant formations in the mouth while playing. Since the trombone is such a perfect amplifier these small details can be heard. For instance the difference between ‘ts’ and ‘tsh’ comes off well. I think of this movement as a vocal conversation or discourse which becomes highly animated at the end. The dynamics play an important role in providing additional colors. The player should really ‘speak’ without speaking for this movement to work. The third movement is my circus piece. I know it is complicated to.

Brass Ensemble Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813997 Composed by Franz Xaver Gruber. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Christmas,Instructional,Multicultural,World. Score and parts. 11 pages. Regis Bookshar #6636659. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813997). Trombone Octet - Intermediate - Digital Download. This arrangement of Silent Night, or in German, Stille Nacht, would be a wonderful addition to any music library and could be performed for Christmas concerts, recitals, and, especially, church services. It is equally suitable for junior and senior high school students and even older musicians. Depending on their ability, younger musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (11 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time.Silent Night is probably the most popular Christmas carol ever written. It was composed in 1818 by Franz Xaver Gruber to lyrics by Joseph Mohr and was first performed on Christmas Eve at St. Nicholas parish church in Oberndorf, a small village in present-day Austria. A young Catholic priest, Father Joseph Mohr, had written the poem, Stille Nacht, in 1816 and had gone to Oberndorf in 1817. The melody was composed by Franz Xaver Gruber, schoolmaster and organist in the nearby village of Arnsdorf. On Christmas Eve, 1818, Mohr brought the words to Gruber and asked him to compose a melody and guitar accompaniment for that night's mass, after river flooding had possibly damaged the church organ. The church was eventually destroyed by repeated flooding and has since been replaced with the Silent-Night-Chapel.According to Gruber, Karl Mauracher, an organ builder who serviced the instrument at the Oberndorf church, was enamored with the song, and took the composition home with him to the Ziller Valley in Tyrol, Austria. From there, two traveling families of folk singers, the Strassers and the Rainers, included the tune in their shows. The Rainers were already singing it around Christmas, 1819, and once performed it for an audience that included Franz I of Austria and Alexander I of Russia. They also gave the first performance of the song in the United States in New York City in 1839. By the 1840's, the song was well known and was reported to be a favorite of Frederick William IV of Prussia. During this period, the melody changed slightly to become the version that is commonly heard today. The version of the melody that is generally used today is a slow, meditative lullaby, or pastoral, differing slightly from Gruber's original which has a moderate tempo. The song has been translated into about 140 languages and has been recorded by many singers across many music genres. The version sung by Bing Crosby in 1935, has sold over 10 million copies as a single. In this arrangement of Silent Night, Regis Bookshar has kept the basic form of this familiar Christmas carol, but has also included a descant during the third verse. Also, in addition to this version for a Trombone Octet, there are other arrangements of Silent Night available for a variety of instrumental ensembles. There are Quintets and Octets readily available for purchase. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that might also suit your needs.I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a wide variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of Silent Night will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

B-Flat trombone,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1431109 Composed by Keiko Takashima. Classical. Score and part. 35 pages. FOSTERMUSIC.JP Digital Publishing #1011578. Published by FOSTERMUSIC.JP Digital Publishing (A0.1431109). INTRODUCTION Breeze in The Hearts, Bloom in The World is a sonata for trombone and piano commissioned by trombonist Takenori Yoshikawa that premiered at Mr. Yoshikawa's recital in July 2010 with Iku Miwa on piano. Mr. Yoshikawa had requested me to compose a bold and spirited piece, which prompted me to write this sonata with four movements after much deliberation. In the original edition, the burden of the performance was a little too focused on the trombone due to the trombonist's heightened interest in the piece, and as a result, the piece became difficult to play. In this revised edition, I have reworked the balance between the trombone and the piano while preserving the length of the piece so that the music can be performed more effectively.<Performance notes>I. The repetitions of the gentle melody in the introduction should be played in a way that allows it to be heard from far away, while the theme that appears after that should sound majestic and brave.II. Nostalgia - Although this movement is in a minor key, the music seeks to depict a sense of nostalgia instead of sorrow. Despite its slow, triple-time rhythm, please ensure that the music progresses quietly without coming to a halt.III. Serenade - In this movement, the trombone's melody should have a smooth and lively rhythm like the cello in a string ensemble. Articulate the melody beautifully with grace and movement and never allow it to become too heavy.IV. The theme in this movement has a similar feel to that in the first movement, but lighter. Maintain a tempo that is not too fast and keep the music moving. In the coda section from F, the opening section of the first theme makes an appearance from time to time as the piece heads toward the end. Please maintain a constant tempo while articulating the notes in a loud and resonant manner. The piano part contains many sections throughout the entire piece that call for a deep, orchestral sound. The pianist should read these parts carefully from the score while supporting the trombone as much as possible. The word fuka in the Japanese title Fuka Sanrei refer to the flowers that bloom when the wind blows between two people and brings about various encounters between them. I hope that this piece will allow colorful flowers to bloom in the hearts of everyone who performs it and listens to it.March 2023, Keiko TakashimaClick here for other Takashima's works

Trombone Duet Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.589041 Composed by David McKeown. 20th Century,Concert,Latin,World. Score. 6 pages. David McKeown #5792887. Published by David McKeown (A0.589041). Tango d’Elinora is an exciting original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for two Trombones. This duet is written in the style of early twentieth century Tango music. Tango first appeared as in the late nineteenth century in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but it wasn’t long before the dance craze spread to North America and Europe. Performers like Carlos Gardel were the international superstars of their day. More recently the Nuevo Tango of Astor Piazzolla and others has pushed the boundaries and ensured that Tango is still a vibrant art form today. If you play to an intermediate standard and upwards, then you and your audience will enjoy this piece. Rhythms should be lightly articulated with the first beat in the bar always strong; the melody should always flow and following the articulation in the score will help convey the style. Tango d’Elinora has a performance time of just under three minutes. Piano,Trombone - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.548748 By Cat Stevens. By Cat Stevens. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Rock. Score and part. 11 pages. Jmsgu3 #3415223. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548748). Very strong arrangement for Easter. Duration: 2:48. 84 ms. Score: 7 pg. Solo part 1 pg. piano part 3 pg. Morning Has Broken is a popular and well-known Christian hymn first published in 1931. It has words by English author Eleanor Farjeon and was inspired by the village of Alfriston in East Sussex, then set to a traditional Scottish Gaelic tune known as Bunessan [1] (it shares this tune with the 19th century Christmas Carol Child in the Manger[2]). It is often sung in children's services and in Funeral services.[3] English pop musician and folk singer Cat Stevens included a version on his 1971 album Teaser and the Firecat. The song became identified with Stevens due to the popularity of this recording. It reached number six on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, number one on the U.S. easy listening chartin 1972,[4] and number four on the Canadian RPM Magazine charts. The hymn originally appeared in the second edition of Songs of Praise (published in 1931), to the tune Bunessan, composed in the Scottish Islands. In Songs of Praise Discussed, the editor, Percy Dearmer, explains that as there was need for a hymn to give thanks for each day, English poet and children's author Eleanor Farjeon had been asked to make a poem to fit the lovely Scottish tune. A slight variation on the original hymn, also written by Eleanor Farjeon, can be found in the form of a poem contributed to the anthology Children's Bells, under Farjeon's new title, A Morning Song (For the First Day of Spring), published by Oxford University Press in 1957. The song is noted in 9/4 time but with a 3/4 feel. Bunessan had been found in L. McBean's Songs and Hymns of the Gael, published in 1900.[5] Before Farjeon's words, the tune was used as a Christmas carol, which began Child in the manger, Infant of Mary, translated from the Scottish Gaelic lyrics written by Mary MacDonald. The English-language Roman Catholic hymnal also uses the tune for the James Quinn hymns, Christ Be Beside Me and This Day God Gives Me, both of which were adapted from the traditional Irish hymn St. Patrick's Breastplate. Another Christian hymn, Baptized In Water, borrows the tune. -Wikipedia

Piano,Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1455537 By Alex Schwarte. By Alex Schwarte. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary,New Age. Score and part. 26 pages. Alex Schwarte #1034623. Published by Alex Schwarte (A0.1455537). I have been working on To Rise Again for about a year since the passing of several close family members. As with any long-term struggle, some days are easier than others, and some days it is hard to do much of anything at all. Walking through hard days, this piece is about mental health, the struggles that you face, and on the most difficult days, what it takes to rise again. Despair: This movement opens with what I call the despair motif. This motif consists of seven notes and will return throughout the piece, reminding us of uncertainty and darkness. The middle of the movement includes a build-up leading to a complete panic attack, featuring cluster chords in the piano and extreme volumes and articulation in the trombone. Finally, a quasi-march leads us to the end, where we sink to the lowest and angriest point. Support: This tranquil and shimmering movement evokes the other side of grief and depression: the people around you. In the dark moments, these people can become pillars of aid and light. Even with support, there are moments of darkness and uncertainty, but support will always be there. Musically, this movement features numerous color tones and aims to create an emotionally understanding and steady atmosphere. The opening trombone line (the support motif) represents tender support and is used numerous times in the next movement. Overcome: The final movement opens with a haunting atmosphere created by plucked piano strings. The first normal piano entrance is the Rumbling motif: the feeling of the soul exerting its will to be free but not quite making it. Throughout the rest of the movement, the trombone and piano go back and forth, with the piano emphasizing support and the trombone wallowing in despair. Eventually, the trombone begins to come around and rise. Concluding with a triumphant feeling of release, the mind is lifted from despair, free and open to whatever life brings next. Mental health looks different for everyone, and I want to reflect that in this composition. For all future performances, the performers can make significant musical changes to better reflect their own challenges. This could be as small as a different tempo or as large as a completely different style and articulation. To Rise Again is very personal to me, and I want every performance of it to be just as personal.Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDoVD8lbKulOjUbvdKcc9phxPNOgYLDuh.

Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1 for Trombone (Euphonium) and Piano

Piano,Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1043239 Composed by Edward Elgar. Arranged by Diego Marani. Classical,Instructional,Patriotic,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 18 pages. Diego Marani #647927. Published by Diego Marani (A0.1043239). The best known March of the set, it had its premiere in Liverpool on 19 October 1901, with Elgar conducting the Liverpool Orchestral Society. The Trio contains the tune known as Land of Hope and Glory. In 1902 the tune was re-used, in modified form, for the Land of hope and glory section of his Coronation Ode for King Edward VII. The words were further modified to fit the original tune, and the result has since become a fixture at the Last Night of the Proms, and an English sporting anthem. In the United States, the Trio section Land of Hope and Glory of March No. 1 is often known simply as Pomp and Circumstance or as The Graduation March and is played as the processional tune at virtually all high school and some college graduation ceremonies. It was first played at such a ceremony on 28 June 1905, at Yale University, where the Professor of Music Samuel Sanford had invited his friend Elgar to attend commencement and receive an honorary doctorate of music. Elgar accepted, and Sanford made certain he was the star of the proceedings, engaging the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, the College Choir, the Glee Club, the music faculty members, and New York musicians to perform two parts from Elgar's oratorio The Light of Life and, as the graduates and officials marched out, Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1. Elgar repaid the compliment by dedicating his Introduction and Allegro to Sanford later that year. The tune soon became de rigueur at American graduations, used primarily as a processional at the opening of the ceremony. This arrangement for trombone or euphonium (C and Bb) with piano is suitable for classroom, repertoire and recital.
