This work is widely considered to be some of his most significant compositions, and they are still performed today.The sonatas are divided into three movements each, with two slow movements and one faster one. The flute part is very demanding, as Loeillet often wrote in the high register, and the accompanying basso continuo part provides a solid foundation for the piece. The music has an emotional intensity that was characteristic of the Baroque era, and it features various ornamentations, like trills and mordents. In two movements. A great recital piece to demonstrate the many subtle nuances of the brass quintet. Sonata Op. 49 No. 2 Arranged from Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 20, this is a simple but interesting work in two movements showing the composers sense of humor. The first movement Allegro ma non troppo and the second movement Tempo di Menuetto are both in the key of G. Both Sonatas 19 and 20 (op. 49, No. 1 & 2) are named Easy Sonatas because they are technically easier than the usual Beethoven Sonatas. This makes them very popular among students and teachers alike. Beethoven Background Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 –1827) was certainly a German pianist. Above all, he was probably one of the greatest composers in history. As a result, he is a pivotal character in the progress between the Classical and Romantic periods. He is certainly one of the most famous and hence important of all composers. Seems like his most familiar and noteworthy works include symphonies 1-9; piano concertos 1-5; and furthermore, the violin concerto. Also, certainly of extreme importance are the noteworthy 32 sonatas for the piano; the string quartets 1-16; the Missa solemnis; and likewise, his only opera, Fidelio. Beethoven Overview First of all, Beethoven was born and consequently raised in Bonn. Upon turning 21 he moved to Vienna probably to study composition with Haydn. That’s when he consequently grew a reputation as a brilliant pianist. Furthermore, he probably stayed in Vienna the rest of his life. In his late 20s it seems like his hearing certainly began to decline. It slowly declined until consequently he was nearly totally deaf probably by the last decade of his life. As a result, he stopped conducting and performing. Nevertheless, he continued to compose. As a result, some of his greatest works probably come from this period. First Period Seems like we often divide Beethoven’s life into three periods. Period 1 begins with Beethoven’s arrival in Vienna. Hence, during this period, he mastered the Viennese style of Haydn & Mozart. He consequently began increasing the size and scale of his works. Furthermore, he experimented with extreme dynamics, and likewise extreme tempi. He worked similarly with chromatic harmony. His First and Second Symphonies therefore belong to this period. Other important works also belong here: the first six string quartets and the Sonata Pathétique, Op. 13. Second Period His second period probably began as soon as he realized that he was going deaf. During this period, it seems like he became obsessed with the idea of heroism. His works consequently become even larger and more massive. The most noteworthy of these include the symphonies 3 – 8, piano concertos 5& 6, 5 string quartets, several important piano sonatas (Waldstein and Appassionata), the Kreutzer violin sonata, the violin concerto and his only opera: Fidelio. Third Period In contrast, Beethoven's third period is branded above all by works of incredible intellectual depth, formal innovation, and penetrating expression. It seems like he continued to expand his works. Consequently, the string quartet Op. 131 spills over into seven connected movements. Likewise, in the Ninth Symphony he adds choral forces to his orchestra probably for the first time in history. This arrangement of the Allegro movement from Henry Purcell's Sonata for Trumpet would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services. It is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. This selection is one of the arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library, many of which are being made available for the first time. They have performed the Trumpet Quintet version of this composition quite often for numerous weddings and other special occasions. The original composition was written in D Major but Regis Bookshar has transposed it to Bb Major, making it a little easier for many modern musicians. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (8 pages). The 17th century composer, Henry Purcell, is generally considered to be one of the greatest English composers of his generation. His Sonata for Trumpet and Strings in D Major, composed in 1694, was probably written for the London Theatre, where a fine tradition of trumpet playing had developed. Purcell almost certainly had in mind either John Shore or his brother, William, the most renowned trumpet players in England at the time. The trumpets of the time were normally tuned in D and there were no valves on the Baroque trumpets, so they were limited in the number of notes that they could play. The term Sonata here probably means no more than a piece of incidental music and looks forward to the style that would become the solo concerto where soloist and strings are pitted against each other but also looks back to an older type of instrumental music which emphasized equality between members of the ensemble. The music is in three movements and looks forward to the fast-slow-fast plan popularized by Vivaldi's concertos. Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists, besides trumpet players, could also have the opportunity to play the Allegro movement from Purcell's Sonata for Trumpet, so he has created other arrangements of this selection. However, this particular arrangement is for a Trumpet Quintet, consisting of 5 Trumpets, but there are Quintets, Sextets, Septets and Octets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this piece. You may find something else that may suit your needs. This work is a traditional four-movement sonata written in four movements for Trumpet, doubling Flugelhorn and employing Straight and Harmon mutes; French Horn, employing a Straight mute; and Trombone, employing a Cup mute. The first movement is the allegro, primarily in a complex meter alternating between 7/8 and 6/8. The second movement is the minuet and trio, and employs mutes during the repeat to create a change in timbre. The third movement is the largo, which employs immense development as it continues. The fourth movement is the rondo, which serves simply as a final flair for the work and allows it to go out with a bang rather than a whimper.

No.2, Mvt.1 also known as the Moonlight Sonata is probably the best known of his compositions.Unlike other arrangements you will find on this site (and other sites) I have taken the unusual step of removing a large proportion of the triplet accompaniment figure, which is found in the original piano composition.Other arrangers for brass quintet tend give this figure, as a rule, to the horn or trombone who play the triplets all the way through the piece.I have tried to arrange it as though it had been originally written for the brass  quintet.My arrangement retains some of the triplets (the rising arpeggios) and sometimes uses the triplets on one note to add dramatic effect.The net result is more of a chorale, but I feel it does retain the forward movement from the original with the use of moving staccato crotchets (quarter notes) I have transposed this arrangement into D minor from the original C sharp minor.

Written in two movements for trumpet, horn in F and organ, the work starts with a slower introduction that is written in the key of B major, the dominant key of E major. Moreover, the first movement has imitative passages that are present in all the three instruments. Following the first movement that is written in the 4/4 time, the next movement, composed in the 6/8 time and in E major, is performed gracefully in a style of a pastorale. Like the previous movement, the second part is contrapuntal but it differs in its extensive use of the dialogue between the horn and trumpet. In performing the sonata, there should be balance among the brass instruments and the organ in regard to sound intensity and the speed. The trumpet tends to overpower the horn in passages marked f or louder, and the organist may adjust the registrations to keep the sound from overpowering the other two instruments. If this piece were to be performed in large concert halls or churches, the time that takes air to leave the organ chest to the pipes may be longer. Choice of speed should be rehearsed carefully. The organ registration itself is merely a suggestion and should not be taken too literally due to the design of the organ and the acoustics of the hall or church. Sonata For Trumpet, Horn And Organ is suitable for concert use. This work may be performed at any time of the year, especially Christmas, Post-Easter and general use.

Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 8 in C minor, Op. 13, commonly known as Sonata Pathétique, was written in 1798 when the composer was 27 years old, and was published in 1799. It has remained one of his most celebrated compositions. The famous cantabile melody is played three times, separated by two modulating episodes. Several rock artists have also sampled the adagio, like Kiss and Billie Joel. The 2nd Movement were featured and played by Schroeder in the 1969 animated films A Boy Named Charlie Brown and It's the Pied Piper, Charlie Brown. This arrangement for trumpet with piano accompaniment is suitable for classroom, repertoire and recital.
