Print normally on A4 paper. Score will come out as Landscape and parts as Portrait.The tune, ‘Maryland, My Maryland’, is based on the traditional German song ‘O, Tannenbaum’ or fir tree. The former version in Common Time was adopted by the State of Maryland as its State Song until 1921 when it was abandoned because of its association with divisive political and racial divisions in the Civil War. It has also become a ‘jazz standard ’and this arrangement, like some other versions, retains a ‘martial’ and ‘marching’ feel with the fanfares.

Although gospel songs were traditionally played by jazz bands at funerals or church, it is now common that these songs are also played in secular venues and parades.Down by the Riverside†is an example of such a song, adapted by jazz musicians to fit the New Orleans jazz or brass band style. It has been a staple in New Orleans jazz since at least the early 1920s. This arrangement for a typical New Orleans Brass Band includes parts for Bb Clarinet, BbTrumpet, Tenor Sax, Trombone, Banjo (Optional), Tuba, Acoustic Bass (Tuba Sub. Part), Drum Set and Full Score.Performance Time is Approx. 2 minutes 40 seconds.
