Score and parts of a premiere realization of some of Beethoven's sketches for the first movement of another Symphony in C major before the First, dubbed 'No. 0' or Unv. 2 by some: 1. 'Overture' (Andante con moto - Allegro con brio), 2. Tempo di menuetto. Useful for people interested in Beethoven's sketches and for students of the Classical style. In 1794-1796, Beethoven made extensive concept sketches mostly for the first movement of this abortive symphony. The material is abundant and sometimes contradictory, as usual with his preliminary work, and he recycled later from this one only the main theme of the Finale of the completed Symphony No. 1. For this speculative realization, suggested by Mr. Armando Orlandi at the Centro Ricerche Musicali and dedicated to them, only the more promising sketches were utilized, and the slow introduction was assembled from the ones in cut time, while those in triple time make up now a Minuet. Virtually every bar of music here includes the sketches, also in the elaboration and coda of the 'overture', only with a few transpositions needed for assembling the sonata form and for the repeats in the Minuet. Obviously, Beethoven would have done it much differently, had he decided to continue working on this symphony, and the question remains regarding the utility of recycling material abandoned by some classical composer. However, this gives one an approximate idea of one of the many possibilities implied by the preliminary sketches for his Symphony 'No. 0'. Total duration 15 minutes. Holst's 7-movement Suite, The Planets was written between 1914-16 and its first version was scored for two pianos except for the Neptune movement, which was written for organ alone. The music is the first ever composed with a fade-away ending using a womens' chorus. Later, Holst completed his orchestration of the 7-movement Suite, which has become one of the most popular works in the repertoire. Mr. Sauer has brilliantly scored this movement of about nine minutes in length for 14-part brass ensemble with Timpani and Glockenspiel. This concludes his arranging of the complete suite for Large Brass Ensemble. The entire 7-movement Suite is also available for sale as a complete set on our website. Instrumentation is for: 4 Trumpets in C 4 Horns in F 3 Trombones Euphonium, Tuba Timpani and Glockenspiel This music is appropriate for advanced performers.

Mr. Sauer has beautifully arranged this 9-minute masterpiece for a large 14-part brass ensemble with Timpani and Percussion appropriate for advanced performers.

It was written in 1879 and was premiered that same year in Prague with the composer as conductor. The work is in four movements: I Moderato, II Minuetto, III Andante & IV Finale- Allegro Molto. The work has an old-world flavor with a Slavonic style throughout. It was originally written for Oboes, Clarinets, Bassoons, Horns, Cello and Double Bass.Mr. Geoffrey Bergler, veteran Trumpeter of the Seattle Symphony has done a brilliant job with his transcription. The music is in A-B-A form beginning with a fanfare containing a combination of open and complex chords, giving it an ancient sound. The middle section is a relaxed intermezzo called Lear Asleep which is followed by a return to the fanfare. The music has been beautifully scored by Ralph Sauer for a 16-part large brass ensemble with timpani and percussion and is appropriate for advanced performers. Mr. Sauer has dedicated this work to the memory of Adolf Bud Herseth.

The music is very characteristic of Rossini with lots of excitement and pure, elegant melodies. The opera was written in a very short time when the composer was only 21 years of age. The overture begins slowly and quietly with sudden loud surprising outbursts of comedic effect. Mr. Chasanov’s arrangement for 13-part brass ensemble works perfectly for advanced performers, with each part having a fun and challenging time.

The subtitle actually does not refer to romantic love, but a medieval romance such as some of Wagner's operas.The movement titled Scherzo is full of adventure and vitality with a relaxed middle section. Bruckner himself hinted that the Scherzo movement was a Jadthema or hunting theme and Volkfest or people's festival. The hunting horns are calling, the brass are blowing their fanfares and it is a good day to be hunting. He was an advising professor for the Czech Republic's DobÅ™ichovice International Music Camp, and now Korean Suzuki Association Music Camp.Since 2004, his compositions have been periodically performed by I Musici. His compositions have also been performed and recorded by the Vienna Waltz Orchestra, in Austria, the French Chamber Orchestra in France, and the Sophia Chamber Orchestra in Russia. Mr. Kim is a former Dean of Changwon National University's College of Performing Arts. Now he is Emeritus professor of Changwon National University. Â

Mr. Sauer has brilliantly scored Bach’s fugue for 14-piece Brass ensemble the texture of which is quite transparent until the ending, which goes out in a blaze of glory. Instrumentation: 4 Trumpets in C, 4 Horns, 4 Trombones, 2 Tubas (optional single tuba part also included). The work is about 8 minutes in length and is suitable for advanced performers.

David Fetter's brilliant new work Situation Update - Suite for Tenor Trombone and Concert Band is written in three contrasting movements totalling almost 11 minutes in length:
1. Swift
2. Longing
3. Exit Music
Swift is marked "Intense" and is very rhythmic and angular. Longing is a beautiful lyrical movement marked "Cantabile" and Exit Music is marked "Lively" mixing chromatic, lyrical and syncopated segments, ending in a giant climax.
Both the solo and accompaniment parts are written for advanced performers.
The work's premier was performed in 2015 by retired Principal Trombonist of the Boston Symphony, Ronald Barron and accompanied at the Piano by Pianist Larry Wallach.
