The alto solo is straightforward, adhering to the original melody. The choir parts are moderately easy (with some divisi) and support the soloist for the most part; however, they are given the third stanza to sing unaccompanied. The brass parts are moderate in difficulty (1st trumpet is required to play a whole note D6 at the finale). A good pianist (late intermediate +) is required to play moderately fast scale passages, both hands, during a transitional section, as well as a number of thick chord passages and leaps. This piece is ideal for use during the Christmas season in both church and concert venues. Anthony Giamanco is a member of ASCAP. By way of introduction of the piece, in 2012, I met my wife, and very early on we had different trips planned. I was going to visit family and Cindy was going back to Paris, a place she had visited many times. So it was that we were almost literally a world apart. Upon both our returns, Cindy shared her many photos of Paris with me, a place I have never been. These photos were but a few that really made an impression on me and made me feel almost as I were there, even though Cindy was there (in one of the most romantic places in the world) as musicians would say, “solo. So the title of this piece suggests a telling of the story in pictures from her perspective.In performing this piece, it is preferable to have a tenor saxophonist who is equally comfortable in an orchestral setting as in a jazz quintet setting. Though all the jazz quintet parts are very specifically written, with either chord voicings and suggested solos, there is room for improvisation in these parts, but using a keen ear and direction to know when to align properly with the orchestra.In my recording of this piece, Maynard Ferguson Band alumni, Andy Weinzler is the featured tenor saxophonist. Many Western New York musicians came together to record this piece, and I thank them all for their incredible musicianship and willingness to perform this piece.

This setting of the traditional Harvest hymn, We plough the fields and scatter, is written in popular style, a little syncopated. The choir parts are mainly in Unison, with short passages in harmony (SATB). There is also a simple Unison part for the audience/congregation to join in (All good gifts around us), and simple percussion parts could easily be added. The piece could be performed by children or adults, or both together, and though primarily intended for harvest, could fit into any service or concert of thanksgiving. The accompaniment is for piano or organ. (See also arrangement for brass quintet.) [NB If listening to the recording, please note that it repeats more often than it should - but it will give you a good idea of how the piece goes!].

Songs My Mother Taught Me is a song originally composed in 1880 for voice and piano by AntonÃn Dvořák. It is the fourth of seven songs from his cycle Gypsy Songs Op. 55. This song, in particular, has achieved widespread popularity. This sentimental song, filled with warm emotion, has been performed and recorded by a number of well-known artists as diverse as Glenn Miller and Fritz Kreisler. And, the influence of Czech folk-song is immediately recognizable. This arrangement has been expanded to include 4-part mixed choir (English text), organ and brass quintet. It includes a full score, reproducible vocal score (with organ), and brass parts (trumpet parts are provided in both B-flat and C). Vocal score may be freely copied for all members of the choir. The benediction, May The Road Rise To Greet You, uses the text of the Gaelic Blessing, with a few word changes, with piano accompaniment. The level for these would be intermediate or more. I maintained the grand processional style for the Introit and wrote a lighter style for the benediction. The benediction could be done anytime during the year. Several have adopted it as their standard benediction. I hope you enjoy them. I also have a version that is for organ and piano only, no brass(the organ does the brass parts, modified) in case your budget is slim.

David expresses his praise. thankfulness, and what he believed God's relationship was to His people in this powerful anthem. I tried to convey what I thought David wanted when he wrote this praise song. It moves at a very quick pace and is exciting to perform. Incorporating a full choir, brass quintet, and piano Psalm 100 can be a challenge to keep pace with the tempo. The secret is for the choir not to over-sing, emphasize the strong beats (as noted), and sing with a small mouth. Let it flow smoothly in phrases. Psalm 100 will be a great praise and worship anthem and fits will for special occassions. The brass parts and score are sold as a seperate packet. Enjoy this lively piece!
