Pupils also could practice the same lesson in different keys for educational and musical purposes. Each arietta is accompanied by historical notes, interpretative advice and handwritten notes (where present indicate in italics) by Vaccaj himself. All the verses of Metastasio have been rewritten with the orthoepic accents correctly marked on all words of dubious Italian pronunciation. The phonosyntactic doublings are also indicated. An orthoepic legend precedes the method. The appendix includes both the detailed historical notes of each work from which the verses are taken, and the series of intervals to be sung that Vaccaj wrote for the historical editions. The basso continuo has also been made of these sung solfeggios to facilitate their performance by young pianists. This new complete edition of the work, edited in the graphics and paginated from scratch for easier and clearer reading, is further enriched by the precious presentation of Maestro Antonio Juvarra.

The quotes tell her to act a certain way or mold into a specific shape, but also mention to not go too far in either category. Not having a clear direction and attempting to please others makes the singer feel like they're losing their mind.Lauren Mayberry, the lead vocalist, said The barebones of thesong were there in about an hour and the opening line of thesong was the first lyric that came out.The song released with a music video following Mayberry trapped inside a transparent revolving door with no way ofescaping. The piece opens with a constantly descending scale as a mother sings to her sleeping child. As more voices are layered in, the texture becomes increasingly lush, but still soothing. The third stanza of text is marked with peaceful harp-like figures (as thy softest limbs I feel) while the voices take over the calming decent into deeper, more peaceful sleep. The mother’s concern suddenly changes as the descending scale transforms and (the cunning wiles that creep) set in. Anticipation of escaping the terror of potential nightmares escalates as the ascending textures grow more tense and dissonant. The tension finally peaks with a breathless silence before resolving with (then the dreadful night shall break). A song of struggle between faith and fear as a storm threatens to engulf all in its path. Verses of storm are interspersed with verses of calm, as the loving heart struggles to ease the desperate mind with the notion of there being no reason to fear, reinforcing the faith that ‘love will hold through blood and tears’. The music and text express this idea with an almost surreal detachment of the peaceful heart from the surrounding storm during each return of the verse of calm, amidst the increasing tension in the verses of storm, as if in temporary respite within the eye of the storm. In such a meditative state, one can even begin to admire the storm in awe of the beauty of the sheer force of nature. It culminates with the eventual defeat of the loving heart and a resignation to the likely fate to be met by the end of the storm. The piece is composed in three sections, representative of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The close harmonies create the mournful emotional tension. Word painting and story telling is apparent throughout, especially in passages such as resúrget, in which a solo soprano soars above the choir representing the ascension to heaven, and the repeated Lacrimósa, paints an image of tears falling down ones face. A sense of urgency begins to build in the Judicándus section, and the melodic and harmonic structure changes. As the harmonies build and tempo increases you can feel the fear of the unknown future which lies ahead. Begging and pleading for forgiveness ensues as the voices call out, párce Déus, to be seated at the Father’s side. As the tension builds and harmonies become more complex the piece escalates to its climax and comes to an abrupt end. After a slight pause, the calm settles in. Judgement has been passed and the tenors transition us to the PÃe Jésu section with Dóna éis réquiem, surrounded by the return of the melodic motif meant to appear as the angels delivering the assurances of God’s mercifulness. The final phrase dóna éis réquiem, is sung with cross voicing found in the tenor and bass section representing the ascension to heaven as the harmonies settle into their final resting place.
