Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - SKU: A0.912930 Composed by Brandon Nelson. Concert,Contemporary,Jewish. Octavo. 18 pages. Brandon Nelson #2082135. Published by Brandon Nelson (A0.912930). El Malei Rachamim (God full of compassion) is a Jewish prayer for the departed that is recited at funeral services, on visiting the graves of relatives (especially during the holy month of Elul), and after having been called up to the reading of the Torah on the anniversary of the death of a close relative. The prayer originated in the Jewish communities of Western and Eastern Europe and since the end of the Holocaust, the prayer has been adapted as a memorial prayer for the victims of the Holocaust and Nazi persecution. The full text (which has been freely adapted in this piece): O God, Who art full of compassion, who dwellest on high, grant perfect rest in Thy Divine Presence to all the souls of our holy and pure brethren whose blood was spilt by the murderers in Auschwitz, Belzec, Bergen Belsen, Dachau, Majdanek, Sobibor, Treblinka and other extermination camps in Europe; who were killed, strangled, burned and buried alive for the sanctification for Thy Name. For whose souls we now pray. May their resting place be in the Garden of Eden, may the Master of Mercy shelter them in the shadow of His wings for eternity; and may he bind their souls in the Bond of Live. HASHEM is their heritage, and may they repose in peace in their resting places. Now let us say: Amen This setting features of mix of traditional and contemporary composition methods to create a highly emotional and deeply meaningful experience for performer and listener. The subject is explored from a number of angles, including reverence, mystery, grief, anger, and hope. (Learn more about me at bnelsonmusic.wordpress.com).

Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1359972). “Lord Jesus, Think on Me†is a translation and free paraphrase of a 5th-century poem by Synesius of Cyrene (ca. 375-414), Bishop of Ptolemais in north Africa and contemporary of Augustine, Bishop of Hippo (354-430). Synesius was a public servant and statesman, a neo-Platonic philosopher and poet. In 410, he was popularly chosen as Bishop of Ptolemais, a position he reluctantly accepted, as his views on certain beliefs of the church, including the soul's creation, a literal resurrection, and the end of the world (eschatos) were unorthodox. In the last of 10 odes Synesius authored, he describes himself bowing humbly in the presence of Christ. In the 1930s, a literal prose translation of the ode was made by the Anglican cleric Harold Costley-White:Be mindful, Christ Son of Godwho rules on high, of thy servant, sinful of heart, who wrote these words. And grant to me release from passions breeding death, which are inborn in my unclean soul. But give me to behold, Saviour Jesus, thy divine brightness, wherein appearingI shall sing a song,to the healer of souls,to the healer of limbs, with the great Fatherand the Holy Spirit.Amen. The text of this setting for SATB voices and organ selects verses from a free paraphrase of that ode, crafted by the Anglican priest and scholar, Allen William Chatfield (1808-1896) and published in his Songs and Hymns of Earliest Greek Christian Poets (1876):Lord Jesus, think on me and purge away my sin; from earthborn passions set me free, and make me pure within. Lord Jesus, think on me, nor let me go astray; through dark-ness and perplexity point Thou the heav'nly way.Lord Jesus, think on me amid the battle's strife; in all my pain and misery be Thou my Health and Life.Lord Jesus, think on me with many a care oppressed; let me Thy loving servant be and taste Thy promised rest.Lord Jesus, think on me that I may sing above to Fa-ther, Spirit, and to Thee the strains of praise and love. The incipit of each verse, “Lord Jesus, think on [remember] me, recalls the words of the penitent thief to Jesus at their crucifixion, and the petitions for guidance, forgiveness, and succor make this a fitting anthem for the penitential season of Lent. ©Copyright 2024 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). A trumpet sounded forth, Calling men to arms: Prepare yourself for battles long, Protect all from danger’s harm. A trumpet sounded forth: “Raise the ensign high, Rally to the Standard Bearer, Yea, to the Lord on High.†His trumpet sounded forth, It will never call retreat: “Go forth in faith to meet the Lord, Kneel at His judgement seat.†A trumpet sounded forth, Proclaiming divine decree: The Gospel is restored to earth, So all men may come to Me. A trumpet shall sound forth, Calling all men from the grave When resurrected souls will sing, “Hosanna to the One Who Saves!†The trumpet sounded forth: “Prepare for the King to appear!†With songs of joy, we await that day, “Behold! Your King is Here!â€.

Published by Moonhouse Music (A0.749985). During the Covid 19 lockdown the community choir Amber Valley Voices have worked with their MD Angie Cope and accompanist and composer Chris Lawry to write a lock down inspired song to rehearse in their Zoom rehearsals to hopefully use in their forthcoming concerts once restrictions are eased and we can begin to meet and sing together again.Much love to all out there that can't sing together yet; we are feeling your pain with you!Sheet music (for Unison, SA and SATB choir) available from www.chrislawry.com. If you need a backing track or leadsheet, or anything, please get in touch using: contact@chrislawry.com Lyrics: Waiting by the window, Parcels at the door, Kisses left hanging in the air. Doorstep daughters and street-side sons, It's the little things to show that you still care. ]Smiles from total strangers we pass along the way, Neighbours that speak now ev’ry day. Time for conversations, time for souls to touch It’s the little things that now mean oh so much. The little things that mean so much The little things we miss and those we don’t, as such The little things: a sight, a sound, a smell, a touch. It’s the little things that now mean oh so much. A letter from a loved one, flowers from a friend The look that says I know, I understand Early morning birdsong, a woodlands dappled light, It’s the outward signs of natures healing hand.To wander through a meadow, to drink in cleaner air New life bursts out around us ‘midst our pain. So much has been lost at immeasurable cost But together we’ll rebuild our world again. The little things that mean so much The little things we miss and those we don’t, as such The little things: a sight, a sound, a smell, a touch. It’s the little things that now mean oh so much. The little things that mean so much The little things we miss and those we don’t, as such The little things: a sight, a sound, a smell, a touch. It’s the little things that now mean oh so much.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - SKU: A0.787250 Composed by Greg Bartholomew. Concert,Contemporary,Folk,Patriotic,Standards. Octavo. 16 pages. Burke & Bagley #49747. Published by Burke & Bagley (A0.787250). SONG OF THE MOUNTAINS is a setting for mixed (SSAATB) choir with piano accompaniment of text adapted from prose by American naturalist John Muir (1838-1914). Commissioned for the Combined Choirs of St. Joseph's School, Seattle, directed by Rick Boyle, who premiered the piece at Benaroya Hall's Nordstrom Recital Hall on May 6, 2004, in the second annual New Works New Hope concert for the benefit of Gilda's Club Seattle. The piece was revised in 2007 and the premiere of the revised score was given on November 16, 2007, by the Queens College Chorus, Cindy Bell conducting, at the Aaron Copland School of Music in New York. It was selected by the Portland Vocal Consort for their 2013 Best of the Northwest program. Duration ca. 6 minutes. Conductor Cindy Bell says, Driven by a refreshing text of American naturalist John Muir, Bartholomew has created an accessible work that flows easily through both key and meter changes, and features expressive, lyric melodies contrasted by exciting rhythmic drive. Song of the Mountains is almost cantata-like, or through-composed, in that each line of Muir's text receives equal and interesting interpretation. Occasional use of the triplet rhythm creates both a relaxing effect (grasses cease waving) and driving sense of forward motion (Vibrating!). Effective use of dynamics and interweaving of choral parts make for each section having a musical life of its own. Follow along in the score as you listen to a performance in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VVW1Ah6kqE SONG OF THE MOUNTAINS Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares drop off like autumn leaves. Here is calm so deep, grasses cease waving. Everything in wild nature fits into us, as if truly part and parent of us. The sun shines not on us but in us. The rivers flow not past, but through us, thrilling, tingling, vibrating every fiber and cell of the substance of our bodies, Making them glide and sing. The trees wave and the flowers bloom in our bodies as in our souls, and every bird song, wind song, and tremendous storm song of the rocks in the heart of the mountain, is our song, our very own, and sings our love.

We come to the river for to drink from the stream.
We climb up the mountainside to reach for a dream.
We come to the forest for to blaze new trails
Reaching oceans, we unfurl sails.
And for our food and our raiment we will lightly care,
For learning and knowledge is our fare.
And every page which we study, every word we write
Leads closer to the truth and the right.
May each question be answered. May our vision be clear.
May we serve with conviction that our God's ever near.
May He ever sustain us as we follow His beam
Let us drink from the river and dream.
We'll mine every theory with the zeal of our youth,
Expose every error and reveal every truth.
The joy of discovery will feed our souls
As we master our heartfelt goals.
So many friends and companions met along our way
Will reach out in friendship, ne'er to stray.
And then ascending together, every day we'll find
A soul refreshed in heart and in mind.
May each question be answered. May our vision be clear.
May we serve with conviction that our God's ever near.
May He ever sustain us as we follow His beam
Let us drink from the river and dream.
