Brass Ensemble,French Horn Quartet - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1499365 Composed by Various. Arranged by L.C. Harnsberger. Advent,Christmas,Early Music,Holiday,Renaissance. 28 pages. LCH Music #1075419. Published by LCH Music (A0.1499365). The Renaissance period of music was filled with stunning pieces that are rarely heard today. The Christmas music of that era is characterized by beautiful modal melodies and fascinating, driving rhythms that can sometimes be wonderfully syncopated. “Three Renaissance Carols” brings together three magnificent carols, skillfully arranged for horn quartet. The collection starts with the Latin carol “Gaudete,” which features droning reminiscent of bagpipes, and evokes the sounds of Renaissance instruments like the crumhorn and shawm. Next is “Ríu Ríu Chíu,” a contrapuntal Spanish carol that gained popularity when the Monkees performed it on their 1967 Christmas episode. The piece concludes with the energetic and syncopated Spanish carol “E la don, don,” providing a rousing finale.“Three Renaissance Carols” is a unique and engaging arrangement that will captivate audiences with appealing and extraordinary melodies. It is perfect for holiday concerts, church services, caroling parties, and recitals.

This section is a rondo form with the main theme occurring four times with contracting material in between. There are frequent meter changes that add spice to the rhythm and the festive atmosphere.

Trois Chansons (Three Songs) is a work by Maurice Ravel originally composed for a cappella choir written in 1915 in the spirit of nursery rhymes, with a Renaissance almost archaic sounding atmosphere.Ravel composed the Three Songs (Nicolette, Trois beaux oiseaux du Paradis and Ronde) in response to World War I while he was waiting to be drafted and he dedicated the songs to three people who might help him enlist in the military. The common theme in all the Songs is loss.Mr. Sauer has beautifully arranged the Trois Chansons for Four Horns. They are appropriate for advanced performers and total about 7-minutes in length.

Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1110865 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Chamber,Christian,Classical,Instructional,Religious. 28 pages. Regis Bookshar #713160. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1110865). Recordare (from Requiem (K. 626) - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart/Franz Xaver Sussmayr - Brass Sextet - Advanced/Intermediate - . Hauntingly beautiful is how the Recordare from Mozart's Requiem is often described. Originally written for an orchestra and four vocal soloists, it has now been transcribed by Regis Bookshar for a Brass Sextet, consisting of 2 Bb Trumpets, 1 French Horn, 2 Trombones and 1 Tuba, and would be a wonderful addition to any music library. This arrangement will provide students with the opportunity to practice breath control because of its long, sustained phrases, and also to give them the chance to play this beautiful composition, something which they may not have had the opportunity to do, otherwise. This selection could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this arrangement. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (28 pages). The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble has performed the Trumpet Quintet version of the Recordare for funerals, providing beautiful, introspective music for the occasion. There is some controversy surrounding the circumstances of the Requiem's composition because Mozart died before he could complete it. Count Franz von Walsegg had commissioned a Requiem Mass but Mozart had received only half of the payment in advance. So, upon his death on December 5th, 1791, his widow, Constanze, wished to have the work completed secretly by someone else and submit it to the count as having been completed by Mozart to collect the final payment. Joseph von Eybler was one of the first composers to be asked to complete the score and had worked on a number of movements but felt unable to complete the remainder and gave the manuscript back to Constanze Mozart. The task was then given to another composer, Franz Xaver Sussmayr. Sussmayr borrowed some of Eybler's work in making his completion, added his own orchestration to other movements and added several new movements which a Requiem Mass would normally comprise. He then added a final section by adapting the opening two movements which Mozart had written to the different words which finish the Requiem Mass, which according to both Sussmayr and Mozart's wife, was done according to Mozart's directions. The completed score, initially by Mozart but largely finished by Sussmayr, was then dispatched to Count Walsegg complete with a counterfeited signature of Mozart dated 1792. Despite the controversy over how much of the music is actually Mozart's, the commonly performed Sussmayr version has become widely accepted by the public, and is considered one of Mozart's finest compositions. The Recordare is considered by many people to be one of the most beautiful compositions in Mozart's entire catalogue. Regis Bookshar, a trumpet player, has performed the Requiem in concert with a full orchestra, soloists and a chorus and felt that other musicians should have the opportunity to play the hauntingly beautiful Recordare as well. So, in addition to this arrangement for a Brass Sextet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this beautiful composition. There are Quintets, Sextets, Septets and Octets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may fine something else which may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of Mozart's Recordare, will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

Originally written for an orchestra and four vocal soloists, it has now been transcribed by Regis Bookshar for a Brass Sextet, consisting of 3 Bb Trumpets, 1 French Horn, 1 Trombone and 1 Tuba, and would be a wonderful addition to any music library.

Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1340672). Sing Joyfully - William Byrd - Brass Sextet - Advanced/Intermediate - .William Byrd was the greatest British composer of the late Renaissance, and just maybe, the greatest British composer ever. He wrote a huge body of choral music, some of it profound and timeless. He also composed brilliant, virtuoso pieces and his motet-like anthem, Sing Joyfully, a polyphonic setting of Psalm 81, written in 1590, is perhaps his best-known one. It is enchanting to listen to and is fun to sing. Regis Bookshar thought that instrumental performers should have the same opportunity that singers have experienced for years, so he has transcribed, edited and arranged this wonderful composition for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles, including this one for a Brass Sextet, consisting of 2 Bb Trumpets, 1 French Horn, 2 Trombones and 1 Tuba.Since no tempo is indicated and there are no written dynamic or phrase markings in William Byrd's original score, Regis Bookshar has taken the liberty to add them in order to provide direction and life to the piece. This arrangement is suitable for high school and college students, and perhaps even some younger students. It is perfect for concerts, recitals and church services, but could be performed for any occasion. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (28 pages). Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that may also suit your needs. Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1104138 Composed by H.W. Petrie. Arranged by F. Leslie Smith. 19th Century,Children,Comedy,Pop,Wedding. 28 pages. Sweetwater Brass Press #707372. Published by Sweetwater Brass Press (A0.1104138).      Howard W. Petrie was a composer of popular music active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. One of his most popular songs was “I Don’t Want to Play in Your Yard,†published early in his career, 1894. The song underwent a revival in the mid-1950s when Peggy Lee recorded it. It also figured prominently in the popular 1981 film Reds. Lyrics are credited to Philip Wingate, and his first verse sets up the story. Two little girls were next-door neighbors and best of friends. One day, however, a quarrel arose and “hot tears were shared.†One announced, “You can’t play in our yard.†The reply of the other forms the familiar chorus: I don't want to play in your yard, I don't like you any more, You'll be sorry when you see me sliding down our cellar door, You can't holler down our rain-barrel, you can't climb our apple tree, I don't want to play in your yard, if you won't be good to me.      The second verse tells of the reconciliation. The two girls miss each other. They kiss and make up and remain friends “all thro’ life.†But “in sweet dreams of childhood†we still remember the controversy of the yard.      This version features the group's Trumpets somewhat taking the roles of the two little girls. It retains the F major key in which it was written, changes tempo four times (in addition to a few rallentando/a tempo instructions) and includes two short, rather simple cadenzas, one for each Trumpet. It starts (rather incongruously!) with the eight 4/4 measures of “Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary†then transitions to ¾ for the remainder of the piece.      Trumpets predominate with melody and lead. However Horn and Trombone do occasionally come to the fore to provide introductions, call-and-response figures and recapitulations. Both Trumpets play a few notes above their staff—G# and A—but for the most part, all instruments perform within their normal playing range. Performance time is about three and a half minutes to perform.      Completed in 2022, performance time runs about 3 minutes, 34 seconds. The arranger, Les Smith, will be happy to provide substitute parts (for example, treble clef baritone for trombone) at no charge. He would like to receive your suggestions, comments, corrections and criticisms. For more arrangements by Les, enter Sweetwater Brass Press (without the quotation marks) in the Sheet Music Plus or Sheet Music Direct search box. (Also, purchase of this piece entitles you to your choice of another of his arrangements at no charge; send a copy of your purchase receipt directly to him at lessmith61@bellsouth.net.).

Edition BlechMafia #787642. Published by edition BlechMafia (A0.1188028). Inspired by Post Modern Jukebox’s Upright-Bass-Solo cover of the pop song “All About that Bassâ€, we decided to turn the BlechMafia version into a tuba solo.We mixed tuba excerpts from orchestral and film literature, such as the Dragon-Solo from Wagner’s Ring Cycle and the Imperial March from Star Wars, into Meghan Trainor’s original. As rehearsals progressed we decided to add more orchestral excerpts into other instruments as well. Thus the Siegfried Call from Wagner’s Ring Cycle interrupts the Imperial March and a theme from Humperdinck’s Hänsel and Gretel was added to the trumpet part. Rehearsing this piece was quite a challenge - we could barely get to the end without laughing! The result is definitely worth listening too and sure to be a hit in any concert!Duration: 4:00Parts include:Trumpet 1 in Bb or CTrumpet 1 in Bb or CHorn in FTrombone in C (Bass Clef) or Bb (Treble Clef)TubaDrum KitFor alternative transpositions or any other questions, contact me here: stephen@blechmafia.de.
