Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 4 - SKU: A0.976927 Composed by Sabrina Pena Young. Contemporary,Film/TV,Holiday,Musical/Show,Opera. Score. 3 pages. Sabrina Peña Young #3430785. Published by Sabrina Peña Young (A0.976927). Dramatic musical theater work from the groundbreaking 21st century opera and film Libertaria. Written by an award-winning composer. In this excerpt, the addict Simeon laments the loss of his daughter Lucinde to an explosion that was of his doing. Along in the Underground Sewers he sings a bizarre personal reflection of remorse. Quite an unusual but excellent work! Ideal for any intermediate to advanced student, amateur or music professional. For male vocalist, ideal for Tenor or Baritone Voice.Award-winning Cuban-American Composer S. One of my favorite things about this story is its odd apocalyptic tone and strong sci-fi/fantasy foundation. The dark quality that comes with it is the cherry on top. –FanboysAnonymous.comWHAT FANS ARE SAYING ABOUT THE LIBERTARIA CHRONICLESBetween the book, virtual opera, soundtrack, and all the extras, Young has created a convincing world…a dark dystopian future for you to get lost in. Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - SKU: A0.928572 Composed by Beethoven's Wig, Richard Perlmutter. Children,Classical,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score. 65 pages. Beethoven's Wig, Inc. #6384013. Published by Beethoven's Wig, Inc. (A0.928572). Inspired and wildly imaginative, Beethoven's Wig Sing Along Piano Classics are zany, stick-in-your-head lyrics set to masterpieces by great composers. The lyrics are filled with fact and fancy about the composers and their music opening a door to serious music that's fun. It’s fun to play and sing along! The music for each piano piece is presented as it was originally written by the composer. As a bonus, there is an appendix with pieces transposed into the keys used on Beethoven’s Wig recordings. This allows pianists to play and sing along with the recorded tracks.GREAT FOR PIANO STUDENTS AND TEACHERSPiano teachers often tell their students they should sing the instrumental pieces they play to improve their performance. This helps students to interpret pieces lyrically. The witty and delightful lyrics in this collection are an entertaining means to that end. They are great to sing along with when playing, and are educational and fun!PRAISE FOR BEETHOVEN'S WIGClassical music was never supposed to be this much fun. Was it?- Baltimore Sun Instrumental music tends not to charm children...and a classical piece like Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. Not a good bet. But what if that work had words? - New York TimesThe songs are funny... The lyrics are hummable mnemonics, each imparting information about the work or the composer.- Washington PostAn irreverent, witty approach to music appreciation... a laugh out loud that pretty much guarantees listeners will forevermore recognize the classics.-Los Angeles TimesABOUT BEETHOVEN'S WIGBeethoven's Wig is the creation of Richard Perlmutter, who is the lyricist, lead singer and producer of the group's five albums. Beethoven's Wig has toured North America and performed at arts centers and with symphony orchestras. The group's recordings have won 50 awards including including four GRAMMY Nominations. They have also won Parent's Choice Awards, Teacher's Choice Awards and been designated as Notable Recordings by the American Library Association. Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - SKU: A0.942058 Composed by Apostolos Paraskevas. 20th Century,Jazz,Opera,World. Score. 10 pages. Silver Sickle Publications #4729017. Published by Silver Sickle Publications (A0.942058). This witty and extremely fun work to perform by composer Apostolos Paraskevas was conceived after real events. There is a version for Soprano/tenor and Piano and one for guitar as well. Easy to perform and the text was inspired of the following narrative. I Slaughtered an Orange over the Sink... ...and it just sat there…It didn't say a word, not a sound of anguish, not even when my teeth started to tear apart it's flesh little by little... I knew it was a special orange but I couldn't fathom the magnitude of its character…Even when gentle I took it away from its friends there at the top of the kitchen counter, it looked at me almost with a sense of gratitude. Yes, gratitude.! As if it was saying: Thank you! Thank you for helping me to fulfill the purpose of my life…Since I was a little seed I knew I would serve a higher purpose. My sacrifice will help a human to become a healthier mother, doctor, composer, a better scientist. Yes, I think I felt it said…a better composer as well. ...and there I was, sinking my teeth deep inside its flesh and taking all of what it had to offer. It's life, it's substance, it's gratitude for serving a higher purpose. I slaughtered it over the sink, to avoid any evidence of what had happen there. The remaining outer sell, I placed it on the stove top and lighted up with fire, as my mother use to do, to release the heavenly smell and there it was. Evaporated everywhere! I inhale it, It became totally a part of me. Today, I slaughtered an orange over the sink and I didn’t say thank you! Apostolos Paraskevas is a classical guitarist and composer as well as an award-winning film director and producer. He has received multiple international awards for his compositions and was nominated for a Grammy Award. He is the only guitarist ever to have a major orchestral piece performed at Carnegie Hall under the direction of Lukas Foss––and the only musician who has performed there in a Grim Reaper outfit. He was the founder and served for 16 years as the artistic director of the International Guitar Congress-Festival of Corfu, Greece. He is a voting member of the Recording Academy (Grammys). After his undergraduate music studies in Volos he pursued advanced studies in classical guitar with Costas Cotsiolis (diploma, 1990) and Leo Brouwer (Havana 1984, 1988), as well as postgraduate studies in composition with Lukas Foss and Theodore Antoniou (DMA in composition, Boston University, 1998). Paraskevas embarked on a successful career as a guitar soloist and contemporary composer, achieving distinctions in both disciplines: Grammy nomination for Chase Dance (Bridge Records, 1999); first prize for Night Wanderings (Lukas Foss Composition Competition, 2000); first prize for Phygein Adynaton (National Composers Conference, 1997); and numerous prestigious commissions, performances, and publications. Following teaching posts at Northeastern and Boston Universities, Paraskevas has taught since 2001 at the Berklee College of Music in Boston (professor of composition and classical guitar). His eclectic compositional style arises as an idiosyncratic integration of seemingly conflicting influences – from avant-garde approaches to harmonic structure, form, and timbre, to pop-folk modal and rhythmical concepts – amalgamated into a personal evocative musical language, characterized by rhythmic verve, melodic grace, dramatic (and sometimes unexpectedly humorous) gestures, and ritualistic or theatrical elements. The latter feature has also led Paraskevas to the creation of films, notably the acclaimed I Finally Did It (Gold award, California Film Awards 2010), dealing wittily with Death, a recurring extra-musical theme in his music. Quips, Quotes, and Quibbles is a set of eighteen very brief compositions for medium voice and piano, based on humorous quotes about music or musicians, or by musicians themselves. Each selection utilizes compositional styles to represent the composer quoted or referenced. They can be performed in their entirety as a set (16 minutes), or can be extracted and performed in smaller sets. They invariably induce laughter in the audience when performed live. Though copyright permission was not necessary for use of the texts, the composer secured permission to use them from two publishers, who simply requested that there publications be referenced in the score. These are also excellent pieces for composers and music theory students to analyze in order to study compositional techniques used. Dr. Weber is a member of ASCAP and has his own YouTube channel, at which you can see some of his original compositions performed, or him performing his works in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. .

Voice and piano (2 songs with violoncello; 1 vocal duet) - Medium - SKU: MQ.8491-40E Composed by MeeAe Cecilia Nam and Theodore Gouvy. 4 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8491-40E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8491-40E). French.A French composer, Théodore Gouvy (1819-1898) was one of the most significant composers of 19th Century in Europe. The movement of rediscovering his instrumental music has been increasingly successful in Europe since the 1990s, especially following the birth of L’Institut Gouvy in France. However, his solo vocal music has been waiting to be unveiled to the public. Volume One includes 52 songs of Gouvy.Gouvy traveled widely throughout Europe. He was also a lover of nature. Generally, he spent his winters in Leipzig, but in the summertime, he always returned to Hombourg-Haut, France, to stroll through the woods, to hunt, and to relax. Gouvy was fluent in several languages and had a great appreciation of the Renaissance French Poetry of Pierre de Ronsard whose poetry he had set to music. The fifty-two songs in this volume are largely by Ronsard and other Renaissance poets of La Pléiade.Although Ronsard is approximately 300 years older than Gouvy, they both seem to have the same interest in classical literature, though, admittedly, for different reasons. Celebrated by the French and English courts, Ronsard (1525-1585) was the leader of La Pléiade: a group of seven poets (Joachim Du Bellay (1522-1560), Rémy Belleau (1528-1577), Étienne Jodelle (1532-1573), Pontus de Tyard (1521-1603), Jean–Antoine Baïf (1532-1589), and Jean Daurat (1508-1588), who dedicated their efforts to writing poetry in French rather than in Latin (or Greek) as most of the Romantic poets did. They wished to enrich the French language, and establish a new literature which would be the equal of the other literature of their period, and the equal to poets of the past. French Romantic poetry featured the closeness of the poet to nature, and his ability to communicate with nature by personifying (anthropomorphizing) all of nature’s elements: flowers, the planets, the moon, the breeze, and even the sand upon the shore. As a significant melodist, Gouvy’s treatment of the vocal solo line and his treatment and development of the piano accompaniment places him in the upper echelons as a composer of songs. His diverse cultural life led a rich and significant musical life, interacting with his contemporaries who admired his work, and whom Gouvy knew well, such as Liszt, Brahms, Schumann, Mendelssohn, Berlioz and Gounod.

Voice and piano (2 songs with violoncello; 1 vocal duet) - Medium - SKU: MQ.8491-09E Composed by MeeAe Cecilia Nam and Theodore Gouvy. 6 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8491-09E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8491-09E).
