Cantata 156 was written for the third Sunday after Epiphany in 1729, and was first performed on January 23 of that year. The text is by Picander, one of Bach's favorite librettists. of the four cantatas written by Bach for the feast (72, 73, 111 and 156), it was the last, and the only one scored for solo voice. Like Cantatas 73 and 111, it is a choral cantata, employing a choral melody in several movements. Cantata 156, in fact, employs two different melodies and choral texts in the second and sixth (final) movements, respectively; the second uses Machs mit mir, Gott, nach deiner Güt (Schein, 1628), which Herr, wie du willt, so schicks mit mir (Binemann, 1582) is reserved for the finale. This version of the piece was adapted for Marimba (Grand Staff) along with a piano accompaniment that comes with the product.

Oratorio is a genre of musical composition basically sung, being widely used, besides the orchestra, vocal solos and choir. It generally narrates biblical themes.The Messiah (HWV 56, 1741) is an oratorio about the life of Jesus Christ, the Messiah. It has 51 movements divided into three parts: the Prophecies about Jesus' birth, the Passion, and the Resurrection. I was a freshman in high school and just figured out how to use MuseScore. With a holiday concert on the horizon, I wanted to put together a fun arrangement of a classical piece for four percussionists. I settled on Mozart’s Sonata for Two Pianos in D Major (fun fact: this piece has been studied extensively and has proven epilepsy-combatting power!*) and broke down the four piano hands into four marimba parts. In December 2016, I premiered the first iteration of this arrangement with the help of three of my peers; years later, I revisited this arrangement and gave it some much-needed revisions. I also finished arranging the second half of the original, which I couldn’t do in 2016 as the first arrangement had to be fairly short. This is the arrangement in its new finished version, which definitely looks and sounds a lot better than the first. Transcripción para piano solo por: JUAN CARLOS CORTÉS A. El maestro Domingo Bethancourt Mazariegos (Quetzaltenango, 1906-1980) fue un marimbista y compositor guatemalteco. Sus obras para marimba se encuentran entre las más populares de Centro américa. Para la inauguración del Ferrocarril de los Altos, Mingo (como le decÃan a Domingo Bethancourt) compuso una melodÃa con ese nombre, de tan grande éxito, que muy pronto fue grabada en Estados Unidos por la marimba Centroamericana. Un tren convertido en melodÃa inmortal El 30 de marzo de 1930 fue inaugurado el ferrocarril de Los Altos, tren eléctrico cuya vÃa conectaba a Retalhuleu con Quetzaltenango. El ambiente era festivo y en el aire vibró la melodÃa conmemorativa de un joven compositor llamado Román Domingo Bethancourt Mazariegos, UNA LEYENDA MUSICAL Campana y pito preceden a la festiva melodÃa Ferrocarril de Los Altos. Tal composición de Domingo Bethancourt surgió para celebrar el nuevo tren eléctrico de occidente. La construcción empezó en septiembre de 1924, concesionada a una firma alemana. El costo final serÃa de 8 millones de Quetzales. Empezó a funcionar el 30 de marzo de 1930, pero solo duró tres años. Problemas financieros y el fuerte invierno de 1933 golpearon el proyecto que pretendÃa extenderse al Occidente del paÃs, pero que al final fue desmantelado. ¿Cómo se financió el Ferrocarril de Los Altos? Con nostalgia, los quetzaltecos, guardan como recuerdo del Ferrocarril de Los Altos, un monumento ubicado en el Parque Guzmán, de Totonicapán y la conocida melodÃa nacional de marimba, obra de Domingo Betancourt, que lleva el nombre de este innovador proyecto.

A great sounding arrangement of A Night in Tunisia arranged for Vibraphone/Marimba & Piano, Vibe players will love this!A jazz solo is written out for you, if you wish you can improvise on the given chord symbols!A Night in Tunisia is a musical composition written by Dizzy Gillespie around 1941–42, while Gillespie was playing with the Benny Carter band. It has become a jazz standard.It is also known as Interlude. Gillespie called the tune Interlude and said some genius decided to call it 'Night in Tunisia'. He said the tune was composed at the piano at Kelly's Stables in New York. He gave Frank Paparelli co-writer credit in compensation for some unrelated transcription work, but Paparelli had nothing to do with the song. A Night in Tunisia was one of the signature pieces of Gillespie's bebop big band, and he also played it with his small groups. In January 2004, The Recording Academy added the 1946 Victor recording by Gillespie to the Grammy Hall of Fame.On the album A Night at Birdland Vol. 1, Art Blakey introduced his 1954 cover version with this statement: At this time we'd like to play a tune [that] was written by the famous Dizzy Gillespie. I feel rather close to this tune because I was right there when he composed it in Texas on the bottom of a garbage can. The audience laughs, but Blakey responds, Seriously. The liner notes say, The Texas department of sanitation can take a low bow.The complex ostinato bass line in the A section is notable for avoiding the standard walking bass pattern of straight quarter notes, and the use of oscillating half-step-up/half-step-down chord changes (using the Sub V, a tritone substitute chord for the dominant chord) gives the song a unique, mysterious feeling. The B section is notable for having an unresolved minor II-V, since the chord progression of the B section is taken from the B section of the standard Alone Together, causing the V chord to lead back into the Sub V of the A section.Like many of Gillespie's tunes, it features a short written introduction and a brief interlude that occurs between solo sections - in this case, a twelve-bar sequence leading into a four-bar break for the next soloist.
