It's a fun piece with a fantastic bassline and plays really well as an instrumental duet. This upbeat arrangement is perfect for weddings, schools, churches and any other performance opportunities that arise for the professional or amateur musician.This is an arrangement for flexible duo. As long as you have two players and play parts 1 and 2, the instrument choices don't particularly matter. This arrangement is also fully compatible with the flexible wind duo version, available on my publisher page here:The arrangement goes for approx. 3.5 min. This purchase includes a score and parts for all performers; violin, viola 1/2 and cello. It would work best for players of an intermediate to advanced level. Published by Krista Swider (A0.1377246). Chandelier was a challenge to arrange for two instruments! Sia is such a incredible song writer and her music has many layers that contribute so much to the magic of her music. It was tricky to feature both her melodies and the driving rhythm in her percussion and bass lines. In this arrangement, the violin and viola trade the melody back and forth. The instrument playing the accompaniment part at any given point usually has double stops to fill out the harmonies along with a driving rhythm. The viola part features pizzicato as well as several treble clef sections when it sustains the chorus melody. The violin has some very high sections. To facilitate ease with reading, particularly with the double stops, this arrangement is in B minor instead of the original key. Bowings, measure numbers and rehearsal letters are provided.

Published by Krista Swider (A0.1375796). This song has a simple format, but was a challenge to arrange for a duo because it often requires more than two lines to be played at once. There are multiple verses and choruses that champion bass, vocal, and guitar lines which are all essential and must to be played simultaneously to maintain the integrity of the music. I had to be creative and infuse the viola part with elements of the bass line along with the guitar while the violin carries the vocal line. I still found ways to trade the melody between violin and viola, and added double stops where they add to the harmonies and overall affect without being terribly difficult. Measures are numbered, parts and score are bowed, and rehearsal letters included.

Published by David McKeown (A0.591367). The Tulip Ch’Boogie is a fun and original duet written by David McKeown for one Violin and one Viola. The Tulip Ch’Boogie is one in a series of ten Easter-themed duets each written in a different American dance style. Boogie originally referred to the piano style found in Southern State bars where the driving swung bass-line, often double in octaves, cut through the noise. These bass-line patterns were adapted by Big Bands in the ‘30s, and later by Jump bands like that of Louis Jordan. Later still Boogie was quickly incorporated into Rockabilly and Rock’n’Roll. The Tulip Ch’Boogie is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above, with the accessible key and range balanced by the fast tempo and syncopated rhythms and accidentals. With a playing-time of around one and a half minutes, The Tulip Ch’Boogie is a perfect upbeat addition to any performance program, formal or informal. Merengue de MerlÃn is an exciting original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for one Violin and one Viola.This duet is based on the traditional Latin style of Merengue that emerged in the Dominican Republic during the Nineteenth Century. Merengue Tipico bands maintain the traditional instrumentation of the double-headed tambora drum, güira, accordion and vocal, while urban bands in the North American diaspora often add saxophone, bass and other percussion. The Merengue dance became hugely popular in the 1950s and new forms continue to draw audiences around the world.If you play to an intermediate standard and upwards, then you and your audience will enjoy this piece. The steady quintilla tambora rhythm is present throughout, and following the precise articulation in the score will help convey the style. This arrangement of the classic Christmas tune, originally written for the musical, Meet Me in St Louis, is sweet, whimsical and dabbles in jazzy. The duo uses a number of seven chords and dissonances that resolve pleasantly in traditional harmonies. The violin carries the melody, while also filling in some rich counter melodies and chords, and the viola fills in a walking bass line with fun rhythms and chords that spice up the arrangement. There are a number of instances of 2 against 3, (duple and triple rhythms coexisting). The end of the piece sees the viola soloing on the melody for a few measures before the violin joins and the two parts play double stops to resolve in 4-part harmonies.

Published by Sy Brandon (A0.755026). These duets were written for the composer’s niece who is a violin teacher. They have been adapted so that either part can be played by any string instrument (parts for violin, viola, cello and bass are included). They are designed so that the first part is playable by a student in the early stages of development and the second part is playable by a more advanced student or the teacher. The five movements may be performed as a set or individually. Little Serenade has some easy meter changes. Little Waltz makes use of a counter melody and is in arch form. Little Dance uses some easy double stops, canon and imitation. Little Lullaby is in 6/8 and uses some pizzicato. Little March has several themes separated by fanfare interludes.
