The 4 movement Piano Trio is scored for Violin, Cello and Piano. The first movement ‘Shanty’ evokes the drama of the sea as well as the playfulness of sailors telling stories to each other. The second movement ‘Ritual’ begins meditatively before progressing into a much more violent and aggressive middle section. The penultimate movement ‘Hymn’ is lyrical throughout and offers a reprieve from the more active surrounding movements. The final movement ‘Dance’ is rhythmical with greater dissonances than the prior movements – though it ends in a blaze of C major.

Slavonic dances are inspired by the folk rhythms and styles of Slavic nations, This wonderful piece composed in 1886 is one of the finest and most well known.It has been arranged for intermediate players, although the whole score is on the youtube link for you to assess. I have written it in 3/4 time instead of the original 3/8 for ease of reading. The phrasing has been adapted to keep as close to the original as possible. Bowing is left to the performers.There are also small variations in the final section to keep the arrangement cohesive. It has been covered in so many ways for such a variety of instrumental combinations as it's such a popular memorable piece. It is useful for concerts, recitals, weddings, incidental music etc.It is roughly 5 minutes in length.Price is for full score and parts.

This piano trio is a single 9-minute movement. The title, Trinity, refers to various uses of the number 3 within the piece. This includes 3 instruments, 3 main sections, the rhythmic interplay of the dotted crotchet pulse (of 3 quavers) in the prevailing 12/8 time signature (with hemiolas), and the use of 3 (and its multiples) in the creation of core material. The work creates memorable motifs which are used in various other melodic and harmonic permutations, as well as in cycles of layered texturing. Trinity's overall structure actually refers to a palindromic form, as earlier sections return towards the end, truncated and in reverse order, thus bringing the piece full circle. The religious symbolism implied in the title may be said to have influenced some rather 'mystical' and 'otherworldly' harmonies and textures. The piece is highly accessible and is appropriate for higher standard musicians, including students and the more advanced. This original Scripture song based on Psalm 19 verses 1-4 is arranged as an instrumental trio (for CELLO and VIOLIN Duet with PIANO Accompaniment). The CELLO and VIOLIN alternate leading with the melody throughout beginning with the CELLO on the first phrase. The PIANO accompaniment provides cascading eighth note runs creating a flowing harmony that alternates with bold, rhythmic chords on the more intense sections.String ranges are as follows: VIOLIN – G4 to A5; CELLO – G2 to A3.  All notes for both the VIOLIN and CELLO are playable in the first position making this an excellent selection for beginning string players.
