In 2017 I began researching andwriting a university level music textbook explaining contemporary classicalmusic composition techniques. In 2018 I finished the 300+ page manuscript and usedit to teach two university music course in Haiti that year.

It had been many years since I hadtaken the course myself, and needed to add to my knowledge of late 20thCentury and early 21st Century classical music composition techniques.During my research I grew interested in a classical music minimalist styleinfluenced by Terry Riley and Philip Glass. I have tried to use some of theirideas in this composition. There are 10 sections that can be repeated,reordered, and combined so that the performer actually makes a contribution tothe creation of the work.

Playing the piano at church behind areading of Luke 2, was my first experiment in this new form of music. When Ireturned home, I began to experiment in writing down the experience andrefining the work according to these minimalist ideas. The composition could beperformed with or without the narration, with a single narrator in a singlelanguage, or with the narration in multiple languages and/or with multiplevoices.

"Vincent" (also known by its opening line "Starry Starry Night") was written by American singer-songwriter Don McLean, and included on his famous 1971 album "American Pie".
The song is a tribute to the Dutch 19th century painter Vincent van Gogh, with many references to his tragic life, his mental health issues, and his art (especially "The Starry Night", one of his most famous paintings).

"Vincent" became one of Don McLean's most famous songs.

It's a beautiful, melancholic ballad, and it makes for an amazing piano cover!

This piano solo arrangement of the familiar hymn tune SPARROW by Charles Gabriel begins in the key of C major and then broadens as it steps up to the key of D major for the final chorus. This peaceful, yet elegant arrangement of this much-loved song of encouragement is suitable for preludes and offertories as well as an ideal selection for memorial services or funerals. Daniel Berman's masterful arrangement of the Haydn Variations was composed
to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of Brahms in 1997.
The intention was to add a major concert work to the Brahms solo piano
repertoire by rewriting the original two-piano version in a version for one piano,
reproducing the original as faithfully as possible while also giving the listener
as much of an illusion of two pianos as two hands could provide. Requires

Pride & Prejudice is a 2005 film based on the popular Jane Austen novel of the same name. This second major motion-picture, Academy Award-nominated version was produced by Working Title Films, directed by Joe Wright and based on a screenplay by Deborah Moggach. It was released on September 16, 2005 in the UK and on November 11, 2005 in the US.

The soundtrack to the 2005 film Pride & Prejudice was composed by Dario Marianelli and performed by Jean-Yves Thibaudet (piano) and the English Chamber Orchestra.

Marianelli received an Oscar nomination for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Score and two World Soundtrack Academy nominations.

"A Postcard To Henry Purcell" is based on a theme from Henry Purcell's incidental music for Abdelazar, also used by Benjamin Britten in The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra.
