String Quartet Cello,String Quartet - Level 3 - SKU: A0.841328 Composed by Piatti, Carlo Alfredo. Arranged by Artistic Score Engraving by Michele Galvagno. Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. 66 pages. Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele #3624857. Published by Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele (A0.841328). Piatti composed the small quartet (Quartettino) In vacanza (On holiday), a Sonata-form in three movements for four cellos, dedicating it to the young cellists from Bergamo in 1891. It was premiered at the final exams in the same year.It is a simply structured piece made of catchy melodies, thick of that irony, that carelessness that probably Piatti reckoned as a fundamental soft skill for young musicians. The first movement, Allegro con brio, bears the title Partenza(Departure), the second, Andantino quasi allegretto, Arrivo (Arrival), the third, Allegretto vivo, Danza rustica (Rustic Dance). One cannot help but notice the lack of a slow movement in the middle or of a Coming Back at the end. We can explain this only in recognising that Piatti, having come to the end of a long career, may have wanted to leave a wishing message to the younglings who were still at the beginning of their path: “may your life be as a long, endless holiday, with no slack moment; may the enthusiasm to push forward never falter you and may even old age have the cheerful rhythm of a danceâ€This score was published in 2018 and updated in 2023.

Concert Band - SKU: A0.722727 Composed by John Philip Sousa. Arranged by Jari A. Villanueva. 20th Century,Folk,Patriotic. Score and parts. 39 pages. JV MUSIC #3037031. Published by JV MUSIC (A0.722727). Naval Reserve March Composed by John Philip Sousa Arranged for Concert Band by Jari Villanueva To the Officers and Men of the US Naval Reserve Intro: The song Blue RidgeFor Full Concert BandFull and set of Parts includedSousa's march The Naval Reserve was one of his naval salutes and dedicated to the officers and men of the Naval Reserve. The march incorporates his song, Blue Ridge, I’m Coming Back To You. The lyrics of the refrain begin, Blue Ridge, Blue Ridge, I hear the bugle call. Fittingly enough Sousa wrote a bugle call preceding the song which appears as the Trio in the march. This delightful bugle march is accompanied by a basic rhythmic figure on the 1st and 3rd beats of each measure and a sparse woodwind line. This band arrangement by Jari Villanueva is a delightful setting of the original arrangement that gives the woodwinds and brass a chance to shine in different sections. Pay careful attention to the dynamics to make this march really shine! A retired member of the United States Air Force Band where he served on the Music Production staff (as well as a trumpeter and bugler) and student of Bill Holcombe, Jari Villanueva continues writing for different ensembles. His arrangements are played by brass quintets all over the country including many military groups. Many of his arrangements can be found on Sheet Music Plus and JV MUSIC.Jari is a 2016 Sheet Music Plus Arranging Contest winner.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4MUvnZ1sKs

Flute,Piano - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1028807 Composed by Ian Lester. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and part. 23 pages. Ian Lester #4288307. Published by Ian Lester (A0.1028807). Sonata for Flute No. 1 draws inspiration from various sources:The first movement is loosely inspired by Brahms' Clarinet Sonata in F Minor and the long melodic lines and wide intervalic leaps found in that work. Irish folk music was another influence, and a jig-like section followed by a brief cadenza leads us into a Stravinsky-esque, technical section. After a brief moment of tranquility in the form of a slow jazz passage, the movement ends with a recap of the original thematic material. The second movement of mixes elements reminiscent of Beethoven and the film music of Hollywood Western movies, specifically scores by Ennio Morricone. The last movement is an aggressive tour de force finale which constantly switches between ideas but always ends up coming back to the repeated two quarter-note flutter-tongued motive before coming to a joyous conclusion. .

This is a great arrangement for a budding SSA choir or a 2-part choir that wants to try something with a little more challenge. The Ella Fitzgerald solo (which I will link) is one of the best vocal improvisations of the era. The introduction on the recording is not featured here. Her solo is.Please contact me if it would be helpful for you to receive a written out bass part, piano part, guitar part, or drum part. Most people who buy my charts don't want it. That being said, I would love to do that for you (at no extra cost to you) if you would like. Just provide me with proof of purchase of the arrangement and I'll email those to you.For Printing (to save paper), you only need to print the full score for the director. You will only need two copies of each rhythm section part (one for the performer, one for the director) and 10 copies of your SSA charts for your students. If you would like a perpetual license for your school (so you don't have to buy more copies since that option isn't available at Hal Leonard). What you can do is the following: if you pay for 30 copies ($90 is how much I usually charge for arrangements), I will be happy to write you a letter giving you and your school a perpetual license to use my arrangement. It is perfectly legal since you will have paid for the arrangements. Please contact me at: DrLauraHarrison@gmail.com if you have any questions, would like written out rhythm section parts, or would like me to arrange something else for you.

Jeremiah 3 - A New Covenant Tone Poem for Violin and Piano by Stephen R Dalrymple sequenced by the composer transcribed for solo flute, clarinet, trumpet, euphonium/trombone, & cello © 2015, Phonogram Copyright 2020 Stephen R Dalrymple The 3 movements of Jeremiah summarize 3 main themes of the prophet's messages: Jeremiah's unwavering warning of coming judgment, the fall of Judah in 586 BC, and the promised restoration of Israel through the New Covenant. This tone poem is written in the genre of contemporary classical music and is intended for the concert stage rather than church preludes and offertories. Originally composed for violin and piano, it can be performed on several other instruments. Movement 3 is the finale of the tone poem. Alongside the warnings of God’s judgment are the promise of a brighter future for Judah. Jeremiah sees 70 years in the future when God will bring the exiles back, but actually much, much further into the future when God makes a new covenant with His people. Arranged by Liz Garnett. Contemporary. Octavo. 7 pages. Liz Garnett #4994795. Published by Liz Garnett (A0.856237). In this fifth single from the album The Shocking Miss Emerald, Caro Emerald spins a fantasy of revenge on unreliable male lovers by playing them at their own game. Dressing it up in plenty of barbershop 7ths for contest-suitability has the effect of giving it additional backbone and drama, which are enhanced by a motif of octave leaps in the lead line introduced in the embellishments.N.B. Piano Solo - SKU: A0.1033214 Composed by Mark Wilson. Contemporary. Score. 27 pages. Mark Wilson #6268685. Published by Mark Wilson (A0.1033214). When my friend, the composer and pianist Neil Crossland, asked me to write a work for him to perform, he requested that I give the piece a distinctly Scottish flavour. Perhaps as a consequence, hailing from Scotland as I do, the resulting work is distinctly autobiographical in nature. This is a challenging piece, aimed at advanced players. The four movements reflect the preoccupations of four stages of (my) life as seen in hindsight. The word dimensions in the piece's title refers to facets of my own character. The first movement, Complications, represents the self-image of the young. The music is adventurous and academic, full of the potential of a life yet to be lived and the earnest self obsession of youth. The second movement, Romance, is the search for love, though seen through the lens of memory and therefore touched with sadness. The third, Transience, shows the uncertainties of middle age, so full of frustration and of nostalgia. This movement contains my setting of the Jacobian poem Will Ye No Come Back Again?. The last movement, Revelry, blows away the uncertainties of the third movement with the driving energy of a Scottish reel. Perhaps increasing age brings a certain perspective; what does it matter if you have more past than future? Just get up and dance and let Dr. Music sweep your cares away. The piece features a musical fragment (first heard in bar 26 of the first movement) which has been the cause of much amusement between Neil Crossland and myself over the years. Neil has been composing music since his teens but the art has only much more recently become a big part of my life. However, musical ideas have always had a tendency to come into my head and, several years ago, I decided to play these two bars to Neil. Every so often, in the years that followed, he would teasingly ask me how my new piece was coming on, knowing full well that I'd have to admit that my magnum opus was still only two bars long! By setting the melodic fragment at the heart of this composition I have finally ensured that he can tease me about it no longer. More importantly, I hope that Neil enjoys our little in-joke.The audio file for this work is beautifully performed by the work's dedicatee, Neil Crossland.

Level 2 - SKU: A0.1444898 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Celtic,Folk,Historic,Irish,Multicultural,World. 20 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #1024766. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.1444898). This is one of the most popular and best-loved folksongs of all time, made famous by Simon and Garfunkel, Bob Dylan and many others. The song is in the Dorian mode and thought to have originated over four hundred years ago. Scarborough (SKAH-buh-ruh) is an English coastal town in the county of Yorkshire. It was occupied by the Romans during the fourth and fifth centuries but today has become the largest holiday resort on the Yorkshire coast with a thriving fishing industry. There are many different versions of the lyrics and by the end of the 19th century, dozens of variants existed. The repeated chorus of “parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme” is significant. In olden times, these herbs had medicinal purposes. In addition, parsley was associated with comfort, sage with strength, rosemary with love and thyme with courage. The song takes the form of a melancholy dialogue between two individuals who were once lovers but now live separate lives. Each of them asks the listener to pass on a message to the other. The young man requests impossible tasks from his former lover, saying that if she can perform them, he will take her back. In return, she requests equally impossible things of him, saying she will perform her tasks when he performs his. The fact that all the tasks are impossible seems to imply that neither of them have any intention of becoming reunited. This arrangement for woodwind instruments and piano stays well within the instrumental ranges and attempts to reflect the melancholy feeling of the lyrics. The clarinet part avoids awkward movement around the break. This arrangement would make a splendid encore piece for a recital.

Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 2 - SKU: A0.1270160 By Arlo Guthrie. By Arlo Guthrie. Arranged by Craig Hanson. A Cappella,Comedy,Folk. Octavo. 6 pages. Edition Craig Hanson #862589. Published by Edition Craig Hanson (A0.1270160). For TTBB chorus a cappella and solo voice. As performed by Arlo Guthrie.Wanna hear something? You know that Indians never ate clams. They didn't have linguini! And so what happened was that clams was allowed to grow unmolested in the coastal waters of America for millions of years. And they got big, and I ain't talking about clams in general, I'm talking about each clam! Individually. I mean each one was a couple of million years old or older. So imagine they could have got bigger than this whole room. And when they get that big, God gives them little feet so that they could walk around easier. And when they get feet, they get dangerous. I'm talking about real dangerous. I ain't talking about sitting under the water waiting for you. I'm talking about coming after you.Imagine being on one of them boats coming over to discover America, like Columbus or something, standing there at night on watch, everyone else is either drunk or asleep. And you're watching for America and the boat's going up and down. And you don't like it anyhow but you gotta stand there and watch, for what? Only he knows, and he ain't watching. You hear the waves lapping against the side of the ship. The moon is going behind the clouds. You hear the pitter patter of little footprints on deck. ‘Is that you kids?’ It ain't! My god! It's this humongous, giant clam!Imagine those little feet coming on deck. A clam twice the size of the ship. Feet first. You're standing there shivering with fear, you grab one of these. This is a belaying pin. They used to have these stuck in the holes all around the ship… You probably didn't know what this is for; you probably had an idea, but you were wrong. They used to have these stuck in the holes all along the sides of the ship, everywhere. You wouldn't know what this is for unless you was that guy that night.I mean, you'd grab this out of the hole, run on over there, bam bam on them little feet! Back into the ocean would go a hurt, but not defeated, humongous, giant clam. Ready to strike again when opportunity was better. You know not even the coastal villages was safe from them big clams. You know them big clams had an inland range of about 15 miles. Think of that. I mean our early pioneers and the settlers built little houses all up and down the coast you know. A little inland and stuff like that and they didn't have houses like we got now, with bathrooms and stuff. They built little privies out back. And late at night, maybe a kid would have to go, and he'd go stomping out there in the moonlight. And all they'd hear for miles around...(loud clap/belch).... One less kid for America. One more smiling, smurking, humongous, giant clam.So Americans built forts. Them forts --you know—them pictures of them forts with the wooden points all around. You probably thought them points was for Indians but that's stupid! 'Cause Indians know about doors. But clams didn't. Even if a clam knew about a door, so what? A clam couldn't fit in a door. I mean, he'd come stomping up to a fort at night, put them feet on them points, jump back crying, tears coming out of them everywhere. But Americans couldn't live in forts forever. You couldn't just build one big fort around America. How would you go to the beach? So what they did was they formed groups of people. I mean they had groups of people all up and down the coast form these little alliances. Like up North it was call the Clamshell Alliance. And farther down South it was called the Catfish Alliance. They had these Alliances all up and down the coast defending themselves against these threatening monsters. These humongous giant clams. Andt hey'd go out there, if there was maybe fifteen of them they'd be singing songs in fifteen part harmony. And when one part disappeared, that's how they knew where the clam would be.Which is why Americans only sing in four part harmony to this very day. That proved to be too dangerous. See, what they did was they'd be singing these songs called Clam Chanties, and they'd have these big spears called clampoons. And they'd be walking up and down the beach and the method they eventually devised where they'd have this guy, the most strongest heavy duty true blue American, courageous type dude they could find and they'd have him out there walking up and down the beach by himself with other chicken dudes hiding behind the sand dunes somewhere. He'd be singing the verses. They'd be singing the chorus, and clams would hear 'em. And clams hate music. So clams would come out of the water and they'd come after this one guy. And all you'd see pretty soon was flying all over the sand flying up and down the beach manmanclamclammanmanclam manclamclamman up and down the beach going this way and that way up the hills in the water out of the water behind the trees everywhere. Finally the man would jump over a big sand dune, roll over the side, the clam would come over the dune, fall in the hole and fourteen guys would come out there and stab the shit out of him with their clampoons. That's the way it was. That was one way to deal with them. The other way was to weld two clams together. [I don't believe it. I'm losing it. Hey. What can you do. Another night shot to hell.] Hey, this was serious back then. This was very serious. I mean these songs now are just piddly folk songs. But back then these songs were controversial. These was radical, almost revolutionary songs. Because times was different and clams was a threat to America. That's right. So we want to sing this song tonight about the one last... You see what they did was there was one man, he was one of these men, his name will always be remembered, his name was Reuben Clamzo, and he was one of the last great clam men there ever was. He stuck the last clam stab. The last clampoon into the last clam that was ever seen on this continent. Knowing he would be out of work in an hour. He did it anyway so that you and me could go to the beach in relative safety. That's right. Made America safe for the likes of you and me. And so we sing this song in his memory. He went into whaling like most of them guys did and he got out of that, when he died. You know, clams was much more dangerous than whales. Clams can run in the water, on the water or on the ground, and they are so big sometimes that they can jump and they can spread their kinda shells and kinda almost fly like one of them flying squirrels. You could be standing there thinking that your perfectly safe and all of a sudden whop.... That's true... And so this is the song of this guy by the name of Reuben Clamzo and the song takes place right after he stabbed this clam and the clam was, going through this kinda death dance over on the side somewhere. The song starts there and he goes into whaling and takes you through the next...I sing the part of the guy on the beach by himself. I go like this: Poor old Reuben Clamzo and you go Clamzo Boys Clamzo. That's the part of the fourteen chicken dudes over on the other side. That's what they used to sing. They'd be calling these clams out of the water. Like taunting them making fun of them. Clams would get real mad and come out. Here we go. I want you to sing it in case you ever have an occasion to join such an alliance. You know some of these alliances are still around. Still defending America against things like them clams. If you ever wants to join one, now you have some historic background. So you know where these guys are coming from. It's not just some 60's movement or something, these things go back a long time.Notice the distinction you're going to have to make now between the first and easy Clamzo Boys Clamzo and the more complicated Clamzo Me Boys Clamzo. Stay serious! Folk songs are serious. That's what Pete Seeger told me. Arlo I only want to tell you one thing... Folk songs are serious. I said right. Let's do it in C for Clam...Iet's do it in B... For boy that's a big clam... Iet' s do it in G for Gee, I hope that big clam don't see me. Let's do it in F... For …he sees me. Let's do it back in A...for a clam is coming. Better get this song done quick. The Story of Reuben Clamzo and His Strange Daughter in the Key of A.

Cello,Instrumental Duet,Violin - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1459257 By Josh Groban. By Brendan Graham and Rolf Lovland. Arranged by Homco/Crinion. Celtic,Folk,Irish,Praise & Worship,Wedding. 3 pages. Homco/Crinion #1038197. Published by Homco/Crinion (A0.1459257). This song was first composed in 2001 as an instrumental piece, and it wasn't until about a year later that an Irish novelist added the lyrics. That's why the music speaks so emotionally and provaocatively in and of itself - even without words. It is definitely Celtic-influenced music, but it wasn't until American up-and-coming singer Josh Groban recorded it in 2003 that it gained worldwide fame. In fact, Groban performed You Lift Me Up at Super Bowl XXXVIII and also at many national events of note. The Cello opens this Duo arrangement with the melody in the Irish-Tenor range. The Violin then plays it in the soprano register before re-stating it an octave higher - like unto an Irish flute. The final reprise of the melancholy melody comes back one last time as a toned-down, soft-spoken voicing before a definitive cadence brings everything to a close.
