This is a very happy and uplifting piece which proves very popular in Christmas Carol church services and complements a traditional mix of carols but with a new sound! The piece is suitable for good amateur choirs such as the 90-strong choir you can hear on the accompanying soundtrack. It also works well for smaller chamber-sized choirs with perhaps one or two voices to a part. The words come from a 17th century English broadside ballad and are similar to those in 'I Saw Three Ships'.
