I've not found an exact backing track for this version so simple chords have been included on the score (a repeating pattern of C / Am / F / G7 until the last 6 bars when switches to F / Fm / C). If want to use a backing track the film version by Sha Na Na is available on Karaoke Version but would need to adjust the ending slightly moving from end of bar 61 to bar 66 and then do bar 67, bar 69 and bar 71 and 72 to end. An optional middle section is included which keeps the Lower part riff from bar 38 - 42 and layers a four bar section from 'We Go Together' for interest! A #PopSongLayerUp is designed to be experimented with, taking elements of a song and layering them to see what new harmonies and rhythms can be created. There are multiple ways it can be explored to build confidence, listening skills and focus. Vocal group leaders can experiment with dynamics, tempo, key changes, different genres/styles of singing using a familiar song as a foundation. Two versions have been provided, Version 1 shows each part stacked to play around with layering and Version 2 is a single part flow with five entry points and an optional finish section ('long-form round'). We know that rounds and partner songs provide great brain training and stretch for singers to concentrate on their part, understand where it fits into the whole and not be swayed by the multiple notes and rhythms moving around their line. A 'Key Chart' with chords / note range is provided in four different keys to help decide which is the most suitable for your vocal group and see if you need to drop an octave for lower voices. Although a starter structure is provided, group leaders are encouraged to mess around with it, try different layers together and have fun creating something new from something familiar. Essentially a 'long form' round, it takes three elements of Meghan Trainor's 'Dear Future Husband' and layers them up. As with singing any round, it provides great brain training and stretch for singers to concentrate and focus on their part and not be swayed by the multiple rhythms and notes moving around their part. The arrangement provides a structure but is designed to be explored and experimented with to see what works, ideal to build confidence for both group leader and singers trying something new together. A key chart showing four different keys has been provided with note range and starting notes should an alternative key be more suitable for your vocal group. Suggest using off-beat finger clicks or a metronome beat to keep time. Backing tracks may be available in future.
