Tomaso Antonio Vitali (1663 - 1745) was an Italian composer and violinist during the Baroque Era who is generally known for his Chaconne in G Minor for violin and basso continuo.

Chaconnes are a type of musical composition that consists of variations on a repeating harmonic progression. Vitali's Chaconne in particular is interesting because of its unorthodox features. Although it opens with a step-wise bass line that introduces the primary harmonic progression, it features multiple modulations into the far-flung keys of Eb-minor and Bb-minor (Ab-minor and Eb-minor in my arrangement), among others. These modulations (or key-signature changes) and other romanticisms would not begenerally seen until the Romantic Era roughly a century later.This created musicological doubts as to whether the originalmanuscript belonged to Vitali, although there is some evidenceof its authenticity.

This arrangement is based on Léopold Charlier's (1867 - 1936) arrangement of the piece, though I took inspirations from other composers and wrote some original voices. Enjoy!

Canon in D for Viola and Piano.

A celebrated Baroque work, Pachelbel's "Canon in D" radiates warmth, beauty and serenity, all in a stylishly flowing, timeless way. A favorite for concerts, recitals and especially weddings (as a prelude, a bridal march, unity candle music, a bridesmaid processional or wedding recessional), this music is arranged as a piano quartet for violin, viola, cello and piano. This arrangement also makes a moving prelude, postlude or an offertory for traditional church services and other worship events. 15 pages of music (that includes separate two-page pullout parts for violin, viola and cello). Violin/Viola/Cello Level: Intermediate. Piano Level: Late Intermediate.

In My Life by the Beatles, was released on the 1965 album, Rubber Soul. It was chiefly written and sung by John Lennon, who claimed it was his first serious attempt at personal song-writing. The song features a baroque style piano solo by George Martin. The tempo was too fast for him to perform it, so he played it at half tempo and layer doubled the tape speed. The resulting tinny sound gave rise to a host of copycat harpsichord solos on contemporary pop songs.

This version of In My Life is arranged in a suitable key and range for solo Viola. Piano/Guitar chords are included above the stave.

Musicians at an early intermediate level will find In My Life ideal for formal and informal concert performance. Most of the solo is straightforward, although the transcribed piano solo is at a higher level of difficulty; these eight bars can be skipped without affecting the overall structure of the song. The overall performance time is around two and a half minutes.

Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with syncopated rhythms.
