This passage from Psalm 42 has been a comfort to me in trying times. I set out to compose a musical setting of the text in hopes that the words and music may be of comfort to others too in seasons of grief, adversity, or doubt. “My tears have been my food both day and night, and all the time, people ask, ‘Where is your God?’ But each day, the Lord pours His unfailing love upon me, and through the night, I sing His songs, praying to God who gives me life.†(Psalm 42:3, 8). The piano reduction in the choir score is intended for rehearsal purposes but may serve as accompaniment in performance if needed. After I finished composing this piece, I was inspired to create a transcription for Concert Band as well. The transcription is available and may be performed separately or combined with the choir for more impact if desired.

Composed in 2007 for the International Competition for Sacred Composition of Diocesi di Faenza - Modigliana, this wide breathed piece is the first of a couple of hymns in honor of S. Apollinare and is very suitable for Choir Concerts, expecially in the Church and for liturgical pourpose. It's majestic and articulated and explores the various possibilities of wide Choir and well fournished Organ together with solo - voices and smooth and coloured chord grouping. One of the pourpose is that the accompaignement is not only a simple harmonic sustain but a richer one (almost like an orchestral one), which dialogues with Choir part.Composer's data:Stefano Maria Torchio is an Italian Violinist, Composer and Orchestra and Choir Conductor born in Padova. He builded his education between the Conservatories of Padova and Vicenza, the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, the Accademia L. Perosi in Biella, the R. This practice still continues in various parts of the world, in monastic life and in more traditional Catholic communities.This arrangement is also suitable for liturgical use in churchs and schools, particularly for Marian feasts and would also be excellent for Advent or Christmas concert season.English Translation:â„£. Many years before Lloyd Webber's Cats I created my own setting for TS Eliot's Song of the Jellicles (from Old Possum's book of practical cats) The estate of T S Eliot would not let me use the poem itself as a choral piece. Â So this is the choral version of the Jellicle music as a drinking song for SATB choir, Â with new words by Jill Mitchell called Praise to the Vine Bring out the goblets! Pour the wine! Â Praise to the vintage, red and white! Â Salute to the harvest of the vine! Â Banish sobriety! Welcome delight! Â The performance is a live recording from a concert by Duodecimo. Â Other (instrumental) versions of the Jellicle music which are available are: A duo for descant recorder and guitar (Jellicle Duo for recorder and guitar) A quartet for recorders (Jellicle Quartet for recorders) and A quartet for strings (Jellicle Catgut for string quartet).
