La Escala Musical o Diat�nica se define como una secuencia ordenada de notas naturales y sonidos musicales. Estas notas se organizan seg�n una estructura y un orden determinado, generalmente por su altura o entonaci�n. En una escala ascendente, cada nota es m�s aguda que la anterior, mientras que en una escala descendente, cada sonido es m�s grave que el anterior. La progresi�n en la escala contin�a hasta incluir todas las notas necesarias. Por lo tanto, la Escala Diat�nica es una sucesi�n de siete sonidos m�s la repetici�n del primero, dispuestos por grados conjuntos seg�n las leyes de tonalidad.
La funci�n principal de la Escala es establecer la base tonal de una melod�a o composici�n musical. Panis angelicus (Latin for "Bread of Angels" or "Angelic Bread") is the penultimate strophe of the hymn "Sacris solemniis" written by Saint Thomas Aquinas for the Feast of Corpus Christi as part of a complete liturgy of the feast, including prayers for the Mass and the Liturgy of the Hours. The strophe of "Sacris solemniis" that begins with the words "Panis angelicus" (bread of angels) has often been set to music separately from the rest of the hymn. Most famously, in 1872 C�sar Franck set this strophe for tenor voice, harp, cello, and organ, and incorporated it into his Messe � trois voix, Op. 12. This arrangement for clarinet quartet includes the following parts: Bb Clarinet 1 or Eb Clarinet, Bb Clarinet 2, Bb Clarinet 3 or Eb Alto Clarinet, Bb Bass Clarinet.
