Small Ensemble B-Flat Bass Clarinet,Contra Alto Clarinet,E-Flat Clarinet - Level 4 - SKU: A0.891980 Composed by Josquin Des Prez (c.1450-1521). Arranged by Stephen Davies. Renaissance,Standards. Score and parts. 24 pages. Stephen Davies #6517969. Published by Stephen Davies (A0.891980). Originally inspired from listening to a BBC Radio 3 programme about the life and music of Josquin Des Prez, I decided it was time to introduce his music to the Clarinet world!! Josquin was, along with Dufay and Palestrina, a famous composer in Europe during the Renaissance, indeed he was regarded as the first master of polyphonic vocal music that was coming of age during his lifetime. 'Tulerunt Dominum Meum' (lit. 'They Have Taken Away My Master), in its original form is a beautifully written vocal Motet, here it is scored for Eb/ 3 Bb's/ 2 Alto's/ 2 Bass Clarinets, deeply modal as was the fashion, would sound amazing in a generous acoustic! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josquin_des_Prez

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1299596 Composed by Josquin des Prez. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Chamber,Contest,Early Music,Festival,Historic,Renaissance. 4 pages. Jmsgu3 #889445. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1299596). Josquin des Prez (1450-1521) was a French-Flemish composer who lived during the Renaissance period. His chamber music was influential in the development of modern tonality and musical genres. Josquin's compositions encompassed both secular and sacred works, including chansons and Italian frottola. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest composers of the Renaissance and was among the first to use innovations such as multiple voices and counterpoint. His achievements as a musical magician-mathematician remain stunning even centuries after his death. The importance of Josquin des Prez's chamber music lies in its influence on the development of modern music and its enduring legacy as a masterpiece of the Renaissance period.

Jmsgu3 #678587. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1074291). Josquin des Prez (c.1450-1521) was a composer of the Renaissance period, widely regarded as one of the greatest composers of all time. His compositions set the standard for polyphonic music and are considered a high point in the history of music. He wrote a wide range of works, including masses, motets, and chansons, and was the first composer to set popular secular tunes as mass movements. His influence can be seen in the works of many later composers, including Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, and George Frideric Handel.Josquin des Prez was a prolific composer of chamber music and duets during the Renaissance period. He wrote several types of chamber music and duets, including madrigals, chansons, and motets. His compositions are characterized by their intricate counterpoint, as well as their harmonic richness and emotional expressiveness. His works often featured two voices in harmony, and he was known to use imitation and complex canonic techniques to create interesting musical textures. Josquin's chamber music and duets are renowned for their complexity and beauty, and they remain some of the most influential and admired works from the Renaissance period.Josquin Desprez is widely regarded as one of the most influential composers of the Renaissance period. His innovative use of counterpoint and canon helped to revolutionize the musical landscape of the time. Counterpoint is a technique of combining two or more independent melodies in a way that creates harmony and a cohesive musical texture. Josquin was a master of this technique, often combining multiple voices in complex contrapuntal textures. His use of canon, or round, was also highly influential. Canon involves two or more voices repeating the same melody in different registers and often with different rhythms. Josquin wrote canons in various styles and forms, including the popular “circular canon†and the more complex “strict canon.†He was also an early adopter of the “inverted canon†form, in which the same melody is repeated but in an inverted form. Josquin’s use of counterpoint and canon had a lasting impact on the development of Western music and helped to establish the foundation for many of the musical forms and techniques still used today.Contents: I. Ranges for all instruments are very modest and allow everyone to coast in the sweet spot while letting this piece fully glow. This arrangement is scored for 2 flugelhorns (though trumpets are fine to use instead), horn in F, trombone, and tuba.Duration: 1'45Difficulty level: Note-wise, this is easy enough for early intermediate musicians, though when played by skilled musicians with excellent intonation, balance, and sound production, it's absolutely gorgeous. .

Woodwind Ensemble Flute - Level 2 - SKU: A0.922021 Composed by Josquin des Prez. Arranged by Kenneth Chia. Renaissance,Sacred. 17 pages. Tuning Fork Music PLT #6471831. Published by Tuning Fork Music PLT (A0.922021). It is our pleasure to introduce to you an arrangement of Responde Mihi, a motet by the great Franco-Flemish Renaissance-era composer Josquin Des Prez. The original piece by Josquin was a music setting of verses from the Book of Job, Chapter 13, verses 22 through 28. These verses are part of the 4th lesson from the 9 lessons from the Offices of the Dead that are published in the Liber Usualis. The Latin text is as follows:Responde mihi: quantas habeo iniquitates et peccata, scelera mea et delicta ostende mihi.Cur faciem tuam abscondis et arbitraris me inimicum tuum?Contra folium quid vento rapitur, ostendis potentiam tuam,et stipulam seccam persequeris?Scribis enim contra me amaritudines,et consumere me vis peccatis adolescentiae meae,Posuisti in nervo pedem meum,et observasti omnes semitas meas,et vestigia pedum meorum considerasti:qui quasi putredo consumendus sum,et quasi vestimentum quod comeditur a tinea.which translates to:Answer thou me, how great iniquities, and sins I have,my wicked deeds, and my offences shew thou me.Why hidest thou thy face and thinkest me thine enemy?Against the leaf that is violently taken with the wind, thou shewest thy might, and persecutest dry stubble. For thou writest bitterness against me,and wilt consume me with the sins of my youth.Thou hast put my foot in band, and hast observed all my paths, and hast considered the steps of my feet.Who as rottenness am to be consumed, and as a garmentthat is eaten of the moth.--This arrangement is about 6'30 in length, and has been arranged for piccolo, 2 flutes, and alto flute. The original ending has been altered to resolve in a manner so that this piece can function as a standalone piece.
