Chamber Orchestra - Level 4 - SKU: A0.742476 Composed by Benedetto Marcello. Arranged by Arte Nova Music Lab. Baroque,Concert,Easter,Standards,World. Score and parts. 43 pages. Arte Nova Music Lab #4602679. Published by Arte Nova Music Lab (A0.742476). Benedetto Giacomo Marcello (Italian: [beneˈdetto marˈtʃɛllo]; (31 July or 1 August 1686 – 24 July 1739) was an Italian composer, writer, advocate, magistrate, and teacher. Born in Venice, Benedetto Marcello was a member of a noble family and his compositions are frequently referred to as Patrizio Veneto. Although he was a music student of Antonio Lotti and Francesco Gasparini, his father wanted Benedetto to devote himself to law. Benedetto managed to combine a life in law and public service with one in music. In 1711 he was appointed a member of the Council of Forty (in Venice's central government), and in 1730 he went to Pola as Provveditore (district governor). Due to his health having been impaired by the climate of Istria, Marcello retired after eight years in the capacity of Camerlengo to Brescia where he died of tuberculosis in 1739. Benedetto Marcello was the brother of Alessandro Marcello, also a notable composer. On 20 May 1728 Benedetto Marcello married his singing student Rosanna Scalfi in a secret ceremony. However, as a nobleman his marriage to a commoner was unlawful and after Marcello's death the marriage was declared null by the state. Rosanna was unable to inherit his estate, and filed suit in 1742 against Benedetto's brother Alessandro Marcello, seeking financial support. String Orchestra - Level 5 - SKU: A0.742424 Composed by Allesandro Marcello. Arranged by Arte Nova Music Lab. Baroque,Concert,Standards,World. Score and parts. 31 pages. Arte Nova Music Lab #3676467. Published by Arte Nova Music Lab (A0.742424). The Oboe Concerto in D minor, S D935, is an early 18th-century concerto for oboe, strings and continuo attributed to the Venetian composer Alessandro Marcello. The earliest extant manuscript containingJohann Sebastian Bach's solo keyboard arrangement of the concerto, BWV 974, dates from around 1715. As a concerto for oboe, strings and continuo its oldest extant sources date from 1717: that year it was printed in Amsterdam, and a C minor variant of the concerto, S Z799, was written down.Bach's keyboard version was published as an arrangement of a concerto by Antonio Vivaldi in the 19th century. In 1923 the C minor version of the oboe concerto was published as a composition by Benedetto Marcello, Alessandro's brother. In the second half of the 20th century several publications indicated Alessandro again as the composer of the piece, as it had been in its early 18th-century print, and the oboe concerto was again published in its D minor version. As well oboe concerto versions and versions based on Bach's arrangement kept repertoire in the 20th and 21st century.Taken from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oboe_Concerto_(Marcello)

Saxophone Quintet,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 5 - SKU: A0.764730 Composed by Benedetto Marcello (1686-1739). Arranged by James Pybus. Baroque. 53 pages. James Pybus #6096827. Published by James Pybus (A0.764730). Benedetto Marcello was born in Venice on 24 July, 1686 and died at Brescia on 24 July, 1739. Marcello's life was a strange mixture of the political and the artistic. His brother, Alessandro Marcello (24 August 1669 – 19 June 1747) was an Italian nobleman, poet, philosopher, mathematician and musician. He wrote a concerto in D minor for oboe, strings and basso continuo, perhaps his best-known work. The work is in three movements and was first published in 1716 in Amsterdam. Its worth was affirmed by Johann Sebastian Bach who transcribed it for harpsichord (BWV 974). Several editions have been published of the famous Oboe Concerto in D minor. The edition in C minor is credited to Benedetto Marcello. This arrangement is for Solo Soprano Saxophone and SATB Saxophone Quartet. Duration is 10:20. Contact me at james.pybus56@gmail.com.
