Known primarily through his Symphonies, Bruckner was a deeply religious man who also composed a wealth of sacred choral music. This motet, the text of which would be used during the three days before Easter Sunday, is mysterious, devotional and hauntingly beautiful. This arrangement also comes with alternate C Trumpets parts. However, some quintets have used Cornets and/or Flugelhorns, instead of Trumpets.
