Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.752412 By ABBA. By Benny Andersson, Bjorn Ulvaeus, and Stig Anderson. Arranged by Rob Bushnell. Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Pop. Score and parts. 2 pages. RBMusic #5795689. Published by RBMusic (A0.752412). On 6 April 1974, the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest took place in Brighton, UK. It should have been held in Luxembourg but, after having won in both 1972 and 1973, they declined to stage the contest in 1974 on the grounds of the expense to host it for a second consecutive year; the BBC agreed to stage it. Drawn 8th, the conductor for the Swedish, Sven-Olof Walldoff, comes on stage dressed as Napoleon. The music starts, and less than 3 minutes later, history was made. This was the year that ABBA won with Waterloo and the victory began their path to worldwide fame. Waterloo is the first single from ABBA's second album, Waterloo, and is the first to be credited to the group performing under the name ABBA. It became a No.1 hit in several countries, including the UK, and went on to sell nearly six million copies, making it one of the best-selling singles in history. At the 50th anniversary celebration of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005, it was chosen as the best song in the competition's history. It has been recorded in English, Swedish, French, German and Finnish – it was the first winning entry to Eurovision in a language other than that of their home country (with rules concerning language having been relaxed in 1973). Waterloo was released on 1 June 2018 as the second single from the Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again soundtrack, performed by Hugh Skinner and Lily James. Arranged to mark the 65th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, due to be held in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on 16 May 2020, but cancelled due to the 2019/2020 Coronavirus Pandemic. It is designed for two treble-clef instruments (part 1 in Bb and part 2 in F). This version is in C major (concert pitch) – part 1 has a written range from B3 to D5 and part 2 has a written range from B3 to D5. (For other parts/versions, see my other Waterloo titles.) Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.752402 Composed by Hughie Charles and Ross Parker. Arranged by Rob Bushnell. Opera. Score and parts. 1 pages. RBMusic #5741083. Published by RBMusic (A0.752402). We'll Meet Again was written in 1939 by Ross Parker and Hughie Charles, and made famous by singer Dame Vera Lynn. The song is one of the most famous of the Second World War era. It later gave its name to the 1943 musical film We'll Meet Again, where Vera Lynn played the lead role. During the Cold War, Lynn's recording of the song was included in the package of music and programmes held in 20 underground radio stations of the BBC's Wartime Broadcasting Service (WTBS), designed to provide public information and morale-boosting broadcasts for 100 days after a nuclear attack. In 2005, Vera Lynn sang the song in London on the 60th Anniversary of VE Day in 2005, and, in 2020, a duet with Katherine Jenkins reached number 72 on the UK Singles Chart. Arranged during the 2019/2020 Coronavirus Pandemic to commemorate/celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE Day, it is designed for two bass-clef instruments in concert pitch. This version is in A-flat major – part 1 has a range from D3 to Eb4 and part 2 has a range from A2 to Bb3. (For other parts/versions, see my other We’ll Meet Again titles.) Arranged by Rob Bushnell. 19th Century,Classical,Folk,Opera,Traditional. Brass Band. 121 pages. RBMusic #956255. Published by RBMusic (A0.1372035). Considered a major contribution to the develop of Czech music, The Bartered Bride by BedÅ™ich Smetana is a comic opera in three acts that premiered, in its final version, in 1870; having not been a great success when the original two-act version premiered at the Provisional Theatre, Prague on 30 May 1866. The opera was part of Smetana’s aim to create a native Czech music after the conductor Johann von Herbeck commented that Czechs were incapable of making music of their own. Whilst he avoided the direct use of folksongs, Smetana did use numerous traditional Bohemian dance forms, such as the furiant and the polka, leading to music that was Czech in spirit.“Sold Brideâ€, a more accurate translation of the original Czech title (Prodaná nevÄ›sta), tells the story of two lovers (MaÅ™enka and Jenik) who want to marry despite MaÅ™enka’s father’s obligations for his daughter to marry the son of a wealthy landowner, Micha. Scheming, condition proposals and secret identities leads to a happy ending. The polka was not in the original 1866 version. A revision in October 1866 saw the addition of a gypsy dance near the start of act 2. But by the next performance in January 1869, this had been replaced by a polka. In June 1869, a new polka replaced the January version’s (as well as being moved to the end of act 1) and this is the one that we know and love today. This arrangement is for the UK-style brass band, with alternative parts for horns in F and bass-clef lower brass. Baritone Horn TC,Bass Trombone,Cornet,E-Flat Tuba TC,Euphonium,Trumpet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.752371 Composed by Rob Bushnell. Contemporary. 27 pages. RBMusic #4888989. Published by RBMusic (A0.752371). This piece was written in March 2008 to open the Leeds University Union Music Society (LUUMS) Wind Band's concert that took place on 27th April 2008. It features the brass (3 trumpets and 3 trombones) and percussion (drum kit, timpani and vibraphone). The title comes from University Challenge, where the initial question per set of questions (or the starter question) is worth 10 points, hence the quizmaster saying Here's your starter for ten.The piece is a great piece to start a concert with, perfect for junior and senior/professional ensembles alike. It has alternative parts so that other members of the brass family (French horns, tenor horns and tubas, as well as parts in treble clef) can either be substituted for the originals or can also play to ensure no brass player misses out. It will work for larger ensembles such as orchestras, wind/concert bands, military bands and brass bands, as well as smaller ensembles from brass sextets to brass dectets (assuming a drummer can be found). And the beginning can also feature the non-brass/percussion players with jungle-like sounds (optional, of course).
