This collection contains 10 hymns notated for C major diatonic scale Tongue Drums (suitable for 8, 11, or 13-note drums in the key of C). These hymns can be performed as solos, as rhythmic chord accompaniment for singing, or as duets. Four separate scores are provided for each song to allow maximum flexibility. These scores can be used in numerous ways from solo playing to playing with a partner or as a group. Each song also has an accompanying note and chord reference chart as well as a rhythm pattern chart. Descriptions of each score and chart are detailed on the introduction page and summarized below: Melody Score This score can be played as a solo with or without singing along. Those new to reading standard music notation as well as those already familiar with music notation will find the numbers above the staff helpful. These numbers correspond to the numbers on the Tongue Drum. Lyrics are provided below the staff for sing along enjoyment Harmony Score This score can be used in conjunction with the Melody Score to form a duet by providing the accompaniment while someone plays or sings the melody. Chord names are shown above the staff for playing a rhythmic accompaniment in place of the harmony accompaniment shown. The chord names can also be used for ensemble playing with other instruments. Grand Staff The Grand Staff score combines the Melody Score with the Harmony Score. This score provides a visual overview of how the two scores line up and is helpful for a director using this set of scores in a group setting. If playing with a partner, this score may be easier to use since both players can see what the other person is playing. This score includes Tongue Drum note numbers above the melody staff and below the harmony staff; chord names above the harmony staff for using a rhythmic chord accompaniment; and lyrics between the staves for sing along enjoyment. Advanced Solo Score This score includes both harmony and melody notes to create a fuller sounding solo. Numbers corresponding to the numbers on the Tongue Drum are included above the staff. Note and Chord Chart This chart consists of two separate staff rows. The first staff shows the notes used for the melody and harmony. The second staff shows the notes in each chord used in this song. Any combination of the notes within a given chord can be played using one of the rhythm patterns. Rhythm Chart This chart shows four rhythm patterns that can be used as an accompaniment for the melody. Using the Harmony Score or the Grand Staff, follow the chord names to play notes from the given chord using one of the rhythm patterns. This collection contains 10 praise choruses notated for 13-note (one octave, C to C chromatic scale) instruments with Handbells on one staff and Boomwhackers® on a second staff creating an instrumental ensemble (requires one set of each instrument). Handbells play the melody while the Boomwhackers® keep a steady beat with three-note chords. For each song, there is a combined score with both instrument parts on a grand staff plus a separate score for each instrument. A note and chord reference chart is also provided for each song. To aid in the learning and teaching of these songs or for use with other instruments (such as a Ukulele), chord names are included on each Boomwhackers® staff and score. Lyrics are also provided on each score for sing along enjoyment or when using these arrangements as the accompaniment for a unison choir.This set of scores uses colored noteheads corresponding to the Boomwhackers® color scheme.  If you have a set of bells or tubes with a different color scheme, Chroma-Notes Stick Ons can be purchased and applied so the instruments match the Boomwhackers® color scheme. Only filled noteheads (quarter and eighth notes) are used so the notes are full color and easier to distinguish (this does not indicate the bells need to be silenced immediately before the next beat). Also, only quarter and eighth rests are used to help visualize the number of beats per measure. All sharps and flats are displayed as well (shown in the key of C); a helpful reminder for beginning musicians.The number of ringers and whackers needed for each song will vary depending on the skill level of the participants. For more advanced players, each person could be assigned two or three notes. For beginners, it is best to assign one note to each person.
