This sheet music is notated for C major diatonic scale Tongue Drums (suitable for any 8, 11, or 13-note drum in the key of C). This hymn arrangement can be performed as a solo, as rhythmic chord accompaniment for singing, or as a duet. Four separate scores are provided for maximum flexibility. Whether beginner or experienced musician, these scores can be used in numerous ways from solo playing to playing with a partner or as a group. A note and chord reference chart is included as well as a rhythm pattern chart. Descriptions, suggestions, and uses for each score and chart are detailed on the introduction page and summarized below:Melody ScoreThis score can be played as a solo with or without singing along. Those new to reading standard music notation as well as those already familiar with music notation will find the numbers above the staff helpful. These numbers correspond to the numbers on the Tongue Drum. Lyrics appear below the staff for sing along enjoyment. Harmony ScoreThis score can be used in conjunction with the Melody Score to form a duet by providing the accompaniment (harmony) while someone plays or sings the melody. Note numbers below the staff corresponding to the numbers on the drum. Chord names are shown above the staff for playing a rhythmic accompaniment in place of the harmony accompaniment shown. The chord names can also be used for ensemble playing with other instruments (such as a Ukulele or Guitar).Grand StaffThe Grand Staff score combines the Melody Score with the Harmony Score. This score provides a visual overview of how the two scores line up and is helpful for a director or teacher using this set of scores in a group setting. If playing with a partner (a duet), this score may be easier to use since you both can see what the other person is playing. This score includes note numbers above the melody staff and below the harmony staff corresponding to the numbers on the drum; chord names shown above the harmony staff for ensemble playing with other instruments or for using a rhythmic chord accompaniment; and lyrics between the staves for sing along enjoyment. Advanced Solo ScoreThe Advanced Solo score includes harmony notes along with the melody notes to create a fuller sounding solo which can be played with or without singing along. Numbers corresponding to the numbers on the Tongue Drum are included above the staff.Note and Chord ChartThis chart consists of two separate staff rows. The first staff shows the notes used for the melody. The second staff shows the notes in each chord used in this song. Any combination of the notes within a given chord can be played using one of the rhythm patterns. Rhythm ChartThis chart shows four rhythm patterns that can be used as an accompaniment for the melody. Gene Kellys dances and sings in the 1952 sound film of the same name.Already after the Second World War, the song became a jazz standard and was performed by artists such as Dave Brubeck, Oscar Peterson, John Serry Sr., Sammy Davis Jr. and Doris Day, just to name a few artists. In 2004, the American Film Institute ranked the song third in its list of the 100 best American film songs.The song was adapted for the Tin Whistle / Penny Whistle in D and provided with fingering images. These images are briefly explained in the appendix. The classic musical notation and/or the lyrics help to develop the song, so that even those unfamiliar with music notes can learn to play the song with this arrangement.The sound of a Vibraphone was used in the setting, so the sound does not mix with the sound of your own instrument. Gene Kellys dances and sings in the 1952 sound film of the same name.Already after the Second World War, the song became a jazz standard and was performed by artists such as Dave Brubeck, Oscar Peterson, John Serry Sr., Sammy Davis Jr. and Doris Day, just to name a few artists. In 2004, the American Film Institute ranked the song third in its list of the 100 best American film songs.The song was adapted for the Kalimba with 17 tines and provided with reed numbers/symbols. These symbols are briefly explained in the appendix and can also be seen on most Kalimbas. The classic musical notation and/or the lyrics help to develop the song, so that even those unfamiliar with music notes can learn to play the song with this arrangement. The sound of a Vibraphone was used in the setting so that the sound does not mix with the sound of your own instrument. The melody is backed by a metronome and quietly by an organ. These two dances are taken from a collection entitled Recueil de danseries, contenant presque toutes sortes de danses (“Collection of dances, containing almost every kind of dancesâ€) published in Antwerp in 1583 by Pierre Phalèse Jnr (c.1545-1629). He was continuing the work of his father Pierre Phalèse the Elder (1510-1575) the most important publisher in the Low Countries during the 16th century. The piece known as Ungaresca evokes the atmosphere of street music rather than that of the court and the drone accompaniment that Phalèse provides suggests the sound of the peasant bagpipes. As the name implies, the dance came from Hungary though it may have simply been a dance in the Hungarian style. Even so, the melody was tremendously popular during the fifteenth century though the author is unknown. The dance calls for a lively performance, and you can use plenty of percussion to enliven it. This music was meant for dancing and entertainment and musicians would often combine several dances to make a more substantial piece. In this arrangement, the rather wild Ungaresca is paired with the stately Almande Poussinghe. The music would have been played by any instruments that happened to be available. The dances still retain their freshness and charm today and are sure to be popular at any concerts, public recitals or end-of-semester events. This arrangement is for virtually any string ensemble and the single PDF file includes a full score and parts for violin 1, violin 2, viola (violin 3), cello and bass (combined), keyboard and simple percussion. Two additional melody part are provided in the treble and bass clefs and the chords (for optional guitar) are shown in both keyboard and cello-bass parts. In the spirit of the original publication, you can add to the melody line any other C-pitch instruments that happen to be available. Even the additional of a couple of recorders will enhance the sound. Alternatively, you can do opposite and create a pleasing contrast by omitting various instruments for certain sections. The audio demo will give you an idea how this might be achieved. The keyboard part is intended as a guide and when possible, the keyboard player should feel free to improvise around the part and the chords shown. A digital or acoustic harpsichord sounds more authentic than a piano. Most electronic keyboards have a harpsichord option. The optional percussion instruments used are similar to those found in elementary school music rooms and usually include a tambour or hand-held drum, antique (finger) cymbals, wood-blocks and tambourine. Two or three players can be used (but feel free to add more) and the parts can be interpreted quite freely. Dance music is intended to be fun, and we hope that this arrangement brings you just that.

Singing is praying. It's like praying twice a quote by our church priest, Father Mike Murphy. He loves music and he says this is such a nice way to pray. This can be an upbeat gathering song, or it can be slowed down for offertory or just a prayer song. This version is Cello duet and piano. On this version, you can play it in different ways. As written, I have a duet with refrain and 3 verses. I then have a final refrain that has an echo part and a little different ending. You could do this as a trio by a third person playing the echo part earlier in the refrain. I will leave that open for you to decide how you want to do it. This arrangement is one of the 10 choruses included in the collection Ten Classic Hymns for 8-note Bells and Boomwhackers®.This sheet music is notated for 8-note, C major diatonic scale (one octave) instruments with Handbells on one staff and Boomwhackers® on a second staff creating a 2-part instrumental ensemble (requires one set of each instrument). Both parts play the melody for one verse beginning with part one (handbells) on the melody and part two (Boomwhackers®) on harmony. After a short interlude, part two plays the melody for the second verse while part one plays harmony. If you want to play only the first verse, an optional ending is provided or it can be skipped to perform the two verses together. Included in this set of scores is a combined score with both instrument parts on a grand staff plus a separate score for each instrument. A note chart is also provided to aid in the learning and teaching of this song. Lyrics are provided as well for sing along enjoyment. This set of scores uses black and white noteheads and is best suited for musicians already familiar with reading standard music notation. For beginning musicians, this same set of scores is available (sold separately) with color coded noteheads.Only filled noteheads (quarter and eighth notes) are used so the notes are easier to see (this does not indicate the bells need to be silenced immediately before the next beat). Also, only quarter rests are used to help visualize the number of beats per measure. The number of ringers and whackers needed will vary depending on the skill level of the participants.
