Op.48 contains some of his most useful classical studies for guitarists of all levels. Two studies have been chosen from this opus which focus on the double arpeggio of the right hand: pimami. The study in E minor (no.5) is a piece that allows the guitarist to develop familiarity with all positions of the neck. The study in A major (no.12) is a piece of contrasting mood with simpler left hand difficulty, but more demanding exection of the right hand to bring out the melody. The notation is based on the original Vienna publication that was printed within the composer's lifetime. Standard notation w/ right and left hand fingerings including chord diagrams, a glossary of symbols, and a cover sheet. 6 pgs.

This version of Ave Maria has the same beautiful melody as the original. The lyrics, while maintaining the well-known Ave Maria words, also have some English translation along with Christmas Lyrics. It talks about the angel giving Mary the message from God that she will bear his son and needs to journey to Bethlehem. The melody is for a soloist and then SSAA quartet or choir parts that give beautiful harmonies off and on throughout the song. There is a very pretty optional instrument part that can be played on flute, violin or cello - parts included. It's worth a listen. According to the composer, the classical world has been acting deprecatory towards new instruments. First, the clarinet, then the saxophone, and still many more are not accepted by conservative listeners. It’s time that people start to discover the beauty of new timbres, giving traditional settings and forms new entertaining context. Swunk believes himself the chosen advocate to bring instruments like the otamatone, the stroh violin, jazz harpsichord, the turkey, and, yes, the kazoo to the classical audience.â€These words were stated under the pseudonym Funky Swunk at the online premiere of a selection of these pieces as performed by members of the Untitled Virtual Ensemble. After this premiere, an extra piece was added (â…¨. Bonus Track), making the suite a nice uneven 11 short pieces.The goal of this collection of pieces is in part to show that the kazoo can in fact be used for a new sound in a classical setting. A well-written piece will still sound as such, regardless of the instruments used. However, the main aspect of performing either a selection of these pieces (in any order) or the suite as a whole should be the fun in performing. Of course, this shouldn’t be at the cost of the musical quality, but I do wholeheartedly hope these pieces bring as much joy to the musicians and any audience as it brought me while composing them.Included in package • Full Score with introduction.

Drawn 8th, the conductor for the Swedish, Sven-Olof Walldoff, comes on stage dressed as Napoleon. The music starts, and less than 3 minutes later, history was made. This was the year that ABBA won with Waterloo and the victory began their path to worldwide fame. Waterloo is the first single from ABBA's second album, Waterloo, and is the first to be credited to the group performing under the name ABBA. It became a No.1 hit in several countries, including the UK, and went on to sell nearly six million copies, making it one of the best-selling singles in history. At the 50th anniversary celebration of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005, it was chosen as the best song in the competition's history. It has been recorded in English, Swedish, French, German and Finnish – it was the first winning entry to Eurovision in a language other than that of their home country (with rules concerning language having been relaxed in 1973). Waterloo was released on 1 June 2018 as the second single from the Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again soundtrack, performed by Hugh Skinner and Lily James. The track features drummer Ron Tutt who regularly backed Elvis Presley.Sweet, Sweet Smile is one of the few songs recorded by the Carpenters which was chosen by Karen Carpenter rather than Richard Carpenter. Juice Newton and her bandleader Otha Young had written Sweet, Sweet Smile for Newton herself to record but Newton's label Capitol Records was not interested in the song. Newton's manager, who was a friend of the Carpenters, was playing the demo of Sweet, Sweet Smile at his home while Karen Carpenter was visiting. Karen Carpenter liked the song and brought it to the attention of her brother Richard Carpenter who'd recall: I liked it immediately...now there's one that, to me, should have done better than it did referring to the track's January 1978 release as the third single from Passage. Blythe accepted Hall's proposal, and her request was that Hall write a song cycle for contralto voice. In recounting her motivation for writing this piece, Hall - in a discussion with Blythe at the Fall Island Vocal Arts Seminar (where Hall was the Guest Composer in 2018) - said You know what I think is really so wonderful is how you [Blythe] communicate, from here to there, right to the audience...it just speaks, the words, the text, come right...right to the heart of each person...I was thinking, what a wonderful person, what a wonderful voice...to be able to communicate...I've just got the most perfect singer to take these songs, this wonderful subject of love, and present it to the worldThe seven poems Hall set in Of That So Sweet Imprisonment were chosen from James Joyce's early book of poems, Chamber Music (Elkin Mathews, London) published in 1907. English.Juliana Hall wrote her song cycle Of That So Sweet Imprisonment for mezzo soprano Stephanie Blythe, for whom Hall had expressed a desire to write a piece. Blythe accepted Hall's proposal, and her request was that Hall write a song cycle for contralto voice. In recounting her motivation for writing this piece, Hall - in a discussion with Blythe at the Fall Island Vocal Arts Seminar (where Hall was the Guest Composer in 2018) - said You know what I think is really so wonderful is how you [Blythe] communicate, from here to there, right to the audience...it just speaks, the words, the text, come right...right to the heart of each person...I was thinking, what a wonderful person, what a wonderful voice...to be able to communicate...I've just got the most perfect singer to take these songs, this wonderful subject of love, and present it to the worldThe seven poems Hall set in Of That So Sweet Imprisonment were chosen from James Joyce's early book of poems, Chamber Music (Elkin Mathews, London) published in 1907. The poems are arranged in a narrative arc that takes the listener from the presence of love in nature (Strings in the Earth and Air), to the human feeling of emptiness when love is not present (Winds of May), to a description exulting in the joys of human love (Of That So Sweet Imprisonment), to expression of human love such as kissing (In the Dark Pine-Wood), to love's tranformation of a girl into a woman through love making (Bid Adieu), to the feelings of contentment in the early morning after making love (At That Hour When All Things Have Repose), and finally a call for the lovers to go to a special place where they may remain together in love (O Cool is the Valley).Of That So Sweet Imprisonment will be premiered on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music in New York City, by Ms. Blythe and pianist Alan Smith, on the third concert of the Sparks & Wiry Cries' NYC songSLAM Festival, entitled Expressions of Love: Stephanie Blythe and Friends.Contents:I.
