Composed by Scott Joplin (1868-1917). Arranged by Harry Walker. Ragtime, Repertoire. Individual Part, Score. 15 pages. Published by SCORE EDITIONS
Scott Joplin perfected ragtime music and raised it to a true art form. A man of his time, yet clearly hindered by it, his strenuous life unfolded with joy and sorrow, success and failure. The "Strenuous Life” presents a simple stroll, high-strutting kicks, intricate syncopations, a gentle middle section, and a stirring conclusion. The original piano rag was published in 1902 by John Stark & Son of St. Louis, Missouri. The title may have referred to a famous speech delivered by Teddy Roosevelt in Chicago in 1899. In this version, the composition was arranged for Double Reed Quartet by Harry Walker.

By John Powell. Arranged by Rob Bushnell. 20th Century,Celtic,Film/TV,Folk,Irish. Brass Band. 79 pages. RBMusic #795900. Published by RBMusic (A0.1196739). Test Drive is from the soundtrack to the 2010 computer-animated action fantasy film How to Train Your Dragon, based on the book by Cressida Cowell. It follows the story of Hiccup and Toothless as they form an unlikely friendship, against the backdrop of the Viking village of Berk, where the other villagers attempt to kill dragons when they attack. The music is composed by John Powell. Whilst this was his sixth collaboration with DreamWorks Animation, it was the first where he was the sole composer (having worked with other composers such as Harry Gregson-Williams and Hans Zimmer prior to this). In an interview with The Wasp, Powell said that the directors wanted “size and depth and emotionâ€, wanting “a feeling of the Nordic musical past.†This led him to the music of Nielsen, Grieg and, in particular, Sibelius. “Sibelius was the key. I studied a lot of Sibelius as a kid, and I've always adored his music.†He continues, “we looked at all the folk music from the Nordic areas. And I'm part Scottish and grew up with a lot of Scottish folk music, so that came into it a lot. And Celtic music was something that Jeffrey [Katzenberg] felt had this very attractive quality to it, and a sweetness, that he thought would be wonderful for the film.Test Drive appears in the film when Hiccup first takes flight on Toothless. It perfectly brings together “Hiccup's Theme†and “Toothless' Themeâ€. The two themes take over from each other, representing the development of their onscreen relationship during this flight scene as Hiccup starts to trust Toothless, and vice versa. The soundtrack was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Score and the BAFTA Award for Best Film Music. This arrangement is for the UK-style brass band, with alternative parts for horns in F and bass-clef lower brass. A recording of the original song can be found here on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpPIK4T068s.Other searchable terms: Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, Astrid Hofferson, Gerard Butler, Stoick the Vast, Craig Ferguson, Gobber the Belch, blacksmith, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Fishlegs Ingerman, Jonah Hill, Snotlout Jorgenson, T.J. By George Harrison, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and Richard Starkey. Arranged by Chris Gorman. Pop,Rock. Brass Band. 32 pages. Chris Gorman #903370. Published by Chris Gorman (A0.1314616). John Lennon wrote Now and Then in the late 1970s, and recorded a demo in 1977 at his home at The Dakota in New York City. The lyrics are typical of the apologetic love songs that Lennon wrote in the latter half of his career. For the most part, the verses are nearly complete, though there are still a few lines that Lennon did not flesh out on the demo tape performance. Writing for the Los Angeles Times, Stephen Thomas Erlewine called Lennon's composition a wispy, melancholy ballad, while Billboard's Kyle Denis described the song as a lovelorn guitar-centric rock ballad. This arrangement follows closely to the authorised version played by Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and friends, and will be a great addition to the Brass Band Library.

String Ensemble Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813724 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary,Standards,Wedding. Score and parts. 9 pages. Regis Bookshar #6474727. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813724). Jupiter (Andante Maestoso from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets) (Violin Quintet) - Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts and recitals but if you are considering using this selection for church services in which a congregation may sing along, I would suggest that you look for the arrangements of either I Vow to Thee, My Country, O God, Beyond All Praising, O Spirit All Embracing or Thaxted, also by Regis Bookshar. They are all based on the same excerpt from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets. These arrangements are suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing these selections as well. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (9 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. We have performed the Trumpet Quintet version of this composition quite often for numerous weddings and other special occasions. The Planets, written between 1914 and 1917 by the English composer Gustav Holst, premiered at the Queen's Hall in London, on September 29, 1918 for an invited audience of about 250 people. In the fourth movement, Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity, Holst portrays Jupiter's supposedly characteristic abundance of life and vitality. Nobility and generosity are allegedly characteristics of those born under Jupiter, and in the slower, middle section marked Andante Maestoso, perhaps the most well-known theme from The Planets (and the theme on which this arrangement is based), Holst provides a broad tune embodying these traits. In 1921, Holst adapted the theme to fit the patriotic poem I Vow to Thee, My Country by Cecil Spring Rice, and was written as a unison song with orchestra. It did not appear as the hymn tune until 1926, when Holst harmonized this melody, named Thaxted, named after the English village where he had lived for many years. Holst's friend Ralph Vaughan Williams included it in Songs of Praise. It has since been performed at numerous occasions, most notably for the wedding of Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales in 1981, and also at the funerals of Princess Diana in 1997, Margaret Thatcher in 2013 and Senator John McCain where it was performed at the Washington National Cathedral on September 1, 2018. In addition to being used as the melody for the solemn, patriotic hymn I Vow to Thee, My Country, other settings of this hymn tune also include O God, Beyond All Praising, by Michael Perry in 1982, O Spirit All Embracing by Delores Dufner in 1995 and We Praise You and Acknowledge You, O God, a paraphrase of the Te Deum Laudemus by Stephen P. Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version, and this version for a Violin Quintet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection. There are Quintets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of Jupiter based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav H.

This marvelous arrangement of O God, Beyond All Praising, a hymn tune based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for church services, especially Weddings and Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. However, if you are looking to perform this selection for concerts or recitals, I would suggest you look for the arrangement of Jupiter (Andante Maestoso from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets), also by Regis Bookshar. Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for a Violoncello Quintet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of O God, Beyond All Praising based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, will continue.

Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for a Euphonium Quintet, written in Bass Clef, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection, including a version for a Euphonium Quintet, written in Treble Clef, if you would prefer. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of I Vow to Thee, My Country based on the Andante Maesto.

Brass Ensemble Euphonium - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813708 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. 20th Century,Contemporary,Standards,Wedding. Score and parts. 9 pages. Regis Bookshar #6474537. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813708). Jupiter (Andante Maestoso from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets) (Euphonium Quintet) - Intermediate - Digital Download. Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for a Euphonium Quintet, written in Bass Clef, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection. There is also a version for a Euphonium Quintet written in Treble Clef, if you would prefer.
