Set in two movements, the music of Oneness in This World represents two things necessary for humanity to move together: Unity and Joy.In the first movement, the music evolves from tension and musical discord to unity and harmony. While much of the drama is heard through the interaction of the clarinet and cello, the piano provides a key factor throughout the second part of the first movement through foundational chaconne variations. As the harmonic progression repeats, the clarinet and cello become more aligned in their music yet maintaining a sense of individuality. Without unity and informed agreement, a society cannot truly benefit its people. Unity is strongest within diversity, contributing to growth, and moving towards a common goal to benefit all.In the second movement, all three musicians share equally in the production of the state of joy. The varied tone colors of the instruments, shifting meters, and dancing music all provide energy and emotions suggesting joy. Joy is a certainty of the goodness of life, in spite of sorrows or pain or even tragedy. Joy gives us wings to transcend our situation, opens us to our potential, and helps us become who we are to be. Joy comes from faith and belief of value and purpose for our life and its beauty.As with other musical compositions of mine, there are two paintings– a diptych –titled Unity and Joy which I created to visually interpret the music. –Jeffrey HooverThis edition is set to print correct page turns, back-to-back.Jeffrey Hoover's work– music ranging from soloist to symphony orchestra –has received recognition through the prestigious Trieste prize, the SMP/Universal Edition composition award for contemporary music, awards from Mu Phi Epsilon, the Lancaster Fine Arts Festival, the L. Russolo competition, grants, publications fellowships, and more than 25 commissions. He is a member of the ACME roster of Mu Phi Epsilon, recognized for distinguished achievement as a composer.One unique aspect of Hoover’s work is when he combines composition with his paintings, creating synergetic art that intrigues and captivate audiences and performers alike. His paintings are seen in exhibitions and in concerts where his paintings are projected while musicians perform his music. Whether making interdisciplinary works, or traditional stand-alone sonic or visual art, Hoover shapes his work through inner vision and practical experience. Jeffrey Hoover’s background as a performer includes both classical and jazz music, as saxophonist and conductor. His book The Arts and Society: Making New Worlds is published by Kendall Hunt Publishing.Jeffrey Hoover was born on September 11, 1959, in Anderson, Indiana. He holds a Ph.D. in Fine Arts (Composition and Interdisciplinary Fine Arts) from Texas Tech University, as well as a M.M. and Bch.Sc. from Ball State University. Published by Bud Caputo (A0.1518531). This String Orchestra Arrangement contains two famous marches that were originally written for Piano; March, From The Notebook of Anna Magdalena Bach by J.S. Bach, and a Soldier's March Op.68, No.2, by Robert Schumann. They are very different, having been composed in two different historical periods, while the march, as a form, is eternal. This is a good example that teachers might use to explain “form” in music.

Concerto in D for Trumpet, Strings and Continuo by English composer Richard Mudge (1718 - 1763) This concerto is more closely related to a concerto grosso than a solo concerto. The form of the piece is more a French overture in two parts with a following movement then an Italian concerto. It is scored for Trumpet in D, Violin one and two, Viola, Cello, Double Bass and Harpsichord with figured bass. The speed of the first movement is open to interpretation. It is marked Vivace, but as you can hear in the youtube video featuring Maurice Andre, he plays the first movement quiet slow. I have written metronome marks for the first 2 movements, but please feel free to change these.I have included Trumpet parts for Trumpet in D, C & Bb as well as Piccolo Trumpet in A.

Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1486677). The Ballades, Op. 10, are lyrical piano pieces written by Johannes Brahms during his youth. They were dated 1854 and were dedicated to his friend Julius Otto Grimm. Their composition coincided with the beginning of the composer's lifelong affection for the pianist and composer Clara Schumann, who was helping Brahms launch his career. Frédéric Chopin had written the last of his famous ballades only 12 years earlier, but Brahms approached the genre differently from Chopin, choosing to take its origin in narrative poetry more literally.Brahms's ballades are arranged in two pairs of two, the members of each pair being in parallel keys. The first ballade was inspired by a Scottish poem Edward found in a collection Stimmen der Völker in ihren Liedern compiled by Johann Gottfried Herder. It is also one of the best examples of Brahms's bardic or Ossianicstyle; its open fifths, octaves, and simple triadic harmonies are supposed to evoke the sense of a mythological past.This is my arrangement of no.1 in D minor for symphonic wind dectet (decet/double wind quintet) and bass.

Arranged double wind quintet/bass The Slavonic Dances (Czech: Slovanské tance) are a series of 16 orchestral pieces composed by AntonÃn Dvořák in 1878 and 1886 and published in two sets as Op. 46 and Op. 72 respectively. Originally written for piano four hands, the Slavonic Dances were inspired by Johannes Brahms's own Hungarian Dances and were orchestrated at the request of Dvořák's publisher soon after composition. The pieces, lively and full of national character, were well received at the time and today are considered among the composer's most memorable works, occasionally making appearances in popular culture. Contrary to what the title might suggest, the dances are not so much inspired by Slavic folk music generally, but specifically by styles and forms from Bohemia. In these pieces, Dvořák never actually quotes folk melodies, but evokes their style and spirit by using traditional rhythmic patterns and structures in keeping with traditional folk dances.This is my arrangement of No 3 Polka from the first set Op.46 In Simrock's original edition of the piano duet, no. 3 was the D major Sousedská and no. 6 the A flat major Polka - an order apparently approved by Dvořák. Their positions were reversed in the orchestral version. The Slavonic Dances (Czech: Slovanské tance) are a series of 16 orchestral pieces composed by AntonÃn Dvořák in 1878 and 1886 and published in two sets as Op. 46 and Op. 72 respectively. Originally written for piano four hands, the Slavonic Dances were inspired by Johannes Brahms's own Hungarian Dances and were orchestrated at the request of Dvořák's publisher soon after composition. The pieces, lively and full of national character, were well received at the time and today are considered among the composer's most memorable works, occasionally making appearances in popular culture. Contrary to what the title might suggest, the dances are not so much inspired by Slavic folk music generally, but specifically by styles and forms from Bohemia. About 1785, Haydn received a commission to write a series of concertos for Ferdinand IV, King of Naples and the Twin Sicilies. It was a very curious commission; for these concertos were to be written for a pair of strange instruments, the so-called Lira organizzata. The lira was a favourite instrument of the lazzaroni, the common people of Neaples: the Bourbon King, though often a rough and uncouth monarch, had a deep affection for his people. and for all their peculiar customs, and it is characteristic that his favourite musical instrument should have been that so beloved by his people. In a letter from the King of Neaples there are two points which explain much of the peculiar character of Haydn’s concertos for the King: the first is the restricted tonal range of all the works, C, F and G major are the only principal keys allowed. The second is the range of the lira itself which is about that of an oboe. Bearing these limitations in mind, Haydn did not attempt to write complicated double concertos, but rather ensemble music for two lire, two violins, two violas, cello and two horns, in other words, 9 solo instruments. (This edition: Flute, oboe, two clarinets, two basset horns, bassoon, contrabass and two horns). Moreover, he neatly combined the concerto form with that of the divertimento: there is often no strict division into solo and tutti, but constant intermingling of both. Wonderful music by Haydn, originally written for a mixed ensemble of 2 liras, 2 Horns and strings, but this is a transcription for a classical wind ensemble, a great companion for a concert together with i.e. Mozart’s Gran Partita, since it has almost the same instrumentation.

Published by Clive Lane (A0.1470122). ‘Lachrimæ or Seven Tears figured in Seven passionate pavans, with divers other pavans, galliards and allemands, set forth for the lute, viols, or violons, in five parts’ is a collection of instrumental music composed by John Dowland and published in 1604. Apart from the sheer quality of the music, it is notable as the first publication of English music scored specifically for strings and for lute, and the first to have used the table layout for consort music.There are seven Lachrimae pavans, which are variations on the theme that Dowland had already made famous as a lute solo and a song (“Flow my tears”).The “divers other” compositions are: two almans (“almands”), nine lively galliards (“galiards”), two sombre pavans, and a “funerall.” There are 21 pieces in all and I have divided them into three books, retaining the original ordering of the pieces. These two pieces; Vista Point and Squirrel Creek were inspired by hiking destinations in the mountains of Colorado, to two foundation ruins of lodges built in the 1920s, then later burned down. My thought was that there was surely a piano in these lodges and Scott Joplin pieces were likely among the repertoire of the pianists of that era. These two pieces are scored for classical guitar solo with an optional narration part that tells the history of these lodges. Without narration the set performance time is 8 minutes. With the narration the pieces are played through once with the narration, then repeated without the narration, thus doubling the performance time. Performance demand is advanced intermediate. Published by Robert Chamberlin (A0.917308). This is a brief piece for flute, Bb clarinet, and two marimbas. An alternate arrangement of this piece is available for two Bb clarinets and two marimbas. The subtitle of the piece is A reflection on social distancing in the COVID-19 era. Therefore, performers are spaced no closer than 6 feet from each other. The marimbas provide a pulsed, minimalist chord progression throughout. The flute and the clarinet play the main melodic ideas as call and response, sometimes with canonic answers. The piece is just over two minutes in length. Parts are included with the full score in this listing. The piece has not yet been performed, so the audio clip supplied is a reasonable MIDI realization.
