The carol was traditionally performed in Coventry in England as part of a mystery play called The Pageant of the Shearmen and Tailors. The play depicts the Christmas story from chapter two in the Gospel of Matthew: the carol itself refers to the Massacre of the Innocents, in which Herod ordered all male infants under the age of two in Bethlehem to be killed, and takes the form of a lullaby sung by mothers of the doomed children. The music contains a well-known example of a Picardy third (G major cadence in the key of G minor). The author is unknown; the oldest known text was written down by Robert Croo in 1534, and the oldest known setting of the melody dates from 1591.[1] There is an alternative, modern setting of the carol by Kenneth Leighton, and another by Philip Stopford. ISBN 9790203710714.Sonate B-dur: Es gibt nur wenige Werke fur Solovioline aus der Mozart-Zeit; das macht diese Erstveroffentlichung interessant. Die grosse Zeit der Violinvirtuosen Walther, Biber, Westhoff, Pisendel und anderer hatte mit Johann Sebastin Bachs Solosonaten und -partiten einen Abschluss gefunden. Aus der vorklassischen Periode kennen wir ausser vielen Unterrichtswerken fur Violine nur wenige konzertante Kompositionen fur eine Violine allein. Dazu zahlen insbesondere die Sonaten von Friedrich Wilhelm Rust und Johann Friedrich Reichardt, beide aus dem Umkreis Franz Bendas, die aber deutlich an barocke Vorbilder anknupfen. - Die hier vorgelegte Sonate in B-Dur von Pesch ist ein in beiden Satzen fast durchgangig zweistimmiges Stuck. Die Tonart B-Dur mag zunachst etwas befremden, ist aber nicht ungewohnlich, denn auch Solowerke von Westhoff und Rust stehen in dieser Tonart; sie erweist sich als durchaus geigerisch und klangvoll in diesem ungewohnlichen Werk. Die in vielen Veroffentlichungen wiedergegebenen Lebensdaten von Pesch, die aus unbekannter Quelle stammen und immer wieder benutzt wurden, sind durchweg falsch. Aus der Eintragung im Kirchenbuch der Gemeinde St. Blasius in Braunschweig ist der 27. Februar 1791 als Sterbedatum eindeutig festgestellt. Die Braunschweigische Anzeigen schreiben Am 27sten Februar ... verstarb ... Herr Carl August Pesch im 57ten Jahr seines Alters. Im 57ten Jahr bedeutet, dass er 56 Jahre alt wurde, also 1735 geboren ist. Uber seine Herkunft ist bisher wenig bekannt: Nach 1760: Eintritt in den herzoglichen Dienst in Braunschweig; 1763: Leopold Mozart erwahnt Pesch unter den Personen, die er im Gasthof Goldener Lowe in Frankfurt/Main getroffen hat; 1765: Reise mit dem Herzog nach London, dort Veroffentlichung einiger Werke; 1766/1767: Reise mit dem Herzog nach Italien; 1776 Konzerte in Frankfurt/Main.

Published by Alan Edgar Ted Moon (A0.903774). This piece is inspired by the Confucius Birthday Ceremony, probably dating from the Chou Dynasty, 1046-221BCE. The music, called Shao Music, has been played in all its magnificence since then. The event is highly choreographed and controlled musically, aiming to reflect and celebrate Confucius' philosphies of peace. Traditional Chinese music is primarily melodic, and western ears may feel the lack of harmonic richness. A player could read out the Confucius quotation at the beginning of each movement. Flute or Oboe, Oboe, Bassoon, optional Narrator. How to play... The melody and some of the bass line consists of the rows of pitch-classes in verses 1 and 2 of Honouring Confucius (Ta Tsai Kung-Tzu) I have introduced rhythmic variety, harmony and some phasing and use the traditional pentatonic scale as rendered by the Chinese classical music instruments-drums, bells, flutes, and strings. The flute symbolises balance. A man without...is a very short saraband, a courtly dance using all the pitches of verse 2 in order. It was by music... uses major triad fanfares where possible, with an occasional glissando. Music produces a special... is a sensuous waltz: as with most of the movements, I have shamelessly used a tonal harmony under the notes of verse 4 (illustrated). When music and courtesy... plays the notes of Verse 6 in quintuple time over a drone. If one should desire...is a barefoot parade (gymnopedie?) in Satie's style. Duration 7 minutes.

Napisao ga je za vrijeme Prvoga svjetskog rata skladatelj i dirigent Stanislav BiniÄki, u Äast pobjedi srpske protiv austrougarske vojske u Cerskoj bitci, u Prvom svjetskom ratu, voÄ‘enoj od 16. do 19. kolovoza 1914. godine. Stanislav BiniÄki bio je sudionikom te bitke kao vojni kapelnik. Pjesma je 50 godina bila bez rijeÄi, a 1964. godine stihove je napisao srbijanski književnik Miloje Popović.[1][2] Pjesma MarÅ¡ na Drinu dobila je najviÅ¡e glasova za srbijansku himnu na referendumu o državnim simbolima Republike Srbije 1992. godine, ali je referendum poniÅ¡ten zbog nedovoljnog odaziva glasaÄa, tako da je pjesma ostala neslužbena himna Republike Srbije sve do 2004. godine i proglaÅ¡enja pjesme Bože pravde himnom Repubilke Srbije

Live recording: Daniela Carlino -Syrah ensemble, Palermo 2017Parte Terza: il sogno come evasione dalla precarietà della vita L'ultima parte è la più complessa della composizione ed è basata su un testo di Guido Gozzano: La via del rifugio . Si tratta di una poesia molto articolata che offre parecchi spunti quasi teatrali: il poeta si trova disteso a terra, nella campagna piemontese, mentre due bambine, nipoti, figlie della sorella, giocano cantando un'antica filastrocca. Il poeta alterna le sue riflessioni sulla vita e sulle grandi domande dell'esistenza ai versi di questa filastrocca e alla descrizione dei giochi delle bambine, i girotondi e la cattura di una farfalla, che tanto coinvolge le piccole. Al fine di rendere meglio la teatralità del brano l'autore ha affidato il testo della filastrocca a due voci infantili e le riflessioni del poeta alla voce di soprano (con l'eccezione di qualche frammento di quest'ultimo tipo recitato dalle bambine stesse). La struttura del testo, con ritorni frequenti di alcune brevi strofe, ha suggerito una forma musicale che si avvicina al tradizionale rondò, in cui in particolare un refrain ritorna in maniera sempre nuova alternandosi a vari episodi. La melodia della filastrocca, elaborazione di una tipica melodia tradizionale è il refrain principale e viene sempre variato nella combinazione delle due voci e degli strumenti, e nell'armonizzazione. Un altro episodio frequente, anch'esso rivisitato nei vari ritorni, è quello del primo intervento dell'autore: socchiusi gli occhi sto seduto sul trifoglio, e vedo un quatrifoglio che non raccoglierò, nelle sue varianti testuali. Il brano vuole anche essere anche una sintesi dei precedenti (Parte Prima e Seconda), riproponendo riferimenti importanti ai temi principali uditi, ma anche a frammenti secondari, che compaiono all'interno del tessuto musicale per suggerire stati d'animo o immagini simili a quelle originarie del brano da cui sono state estrapolate o comunque servono a mettere i brani a confronto e creare delle correlazioni musicali e concettuali.

Umso verwunderlicher ist es, dass Mozart mit diesen beiden Kompositionen eine ganz andere Musik geschaffen hat: gross dimensioniert schon in der Ausdehnung, die der Lange eines Sinfoniesatzes entspricht, erst recht aber in ihrer inhaltlichen Ausarbeitung! Vom dusteren Adagio am Beginn der Fantasie KV 594 uber das triumphierend auffahrende Allegro bis zum ersterbenden Ende wird der Horer gleichermassen wie in der entgegengesetzt aufgebauten Fantasie KV 608 von dem mit dramatisch-heroischem Impetus anpackenden Themenkopf uber das durch 2 Fugen von allerhochster Meisterschaft umrahmten innig beruhrenden Andante bis zum letzten Ton in Atem gehalten. War es die vermutete Bestimmung der Kompositionen als Trauermusik oder Mozarts Beschaftigung mit Handel und Bach, die so ungewohnlich ergreifende Musik entstehen liess? Unuberhorbar ist jedenfalls ihre Nahe zu seinen letzten grossen Kirchenmusiken, der Messe c-Moll und dem Requiem! Wolfgang Helbich in seinem Vorwort zu den beiden Fantasien fur eine Uhr.

Umso verwunderlicher ist es, dass Mozart mit diesen beiden Kompositionen eine ganz andere Musik geschaffen hat: gross dimensioniert schon in der Ausdehnung, die der Lange eines Sinfoniesatzes entspricht, erst recht aber in ihrer inhaltlichen Ausarbeitung! Vom dusteren Adagio am Beginn der Fantasie KV 594 uber das triumphierend auffahrende Allegro bis zum ersterbenden Ende wird der Horer gleichermassen wie in der entgegengesetzt aufgebauten Fantasie KV 608 von dem mit dramatisch-heroischem Impetus anpackenden Themenkopf uber das durch 2 Fugen von allerhochster Meisterschaft umrahmten innig beruhrenden Andante bis zum letzten Ton in Atem gehalten. War es die vermutete Bestimmung der Kompositionen als Trauermusik oder Mozarts Beschaftigung mit Handel und Bach, die so ungewohnlich ergreifende Musik entstehen liess? Unuberhorbar ist jedenfalls ihre Nahe zu seinen letzten grossen Kirchenmusiken, der Messe c-Moll und dem Requiem! Wolfgang Helbich in seinem Vorwort zu den beiden Fantasien fur eine Uhr.
