Published by Polished Brass (A0.1113501). This arrangement for trombone quartet moves the melody around in the top 3 parts while the bass trombone keeps the beat with a walking bass. Lip trills are desirable, but flutter tongue could also be used as a substitute. The players should feel free to clown around with it. David Rose originally wrote “The Stripper†in 1958 as a snippet in a television program called Burlesque. One story has it that he later recorded “The Stripper†during an orchestra session where the brass section was not getting to play very much. He encouraged them to “clown around with itâ€. After recording Ebb Tide for the A side of 45 rpm record in 1962, a last minute search for the B side led to “The Stripper†being selected.

He co-starred with John Wayne inthe movie True Grit, also singing the hit title song.Brad Powell (The Candlelight Guitarist) and his bandmate friend Frank Sanchez (both 16 years old) were guests of Glen Campbell in a recording session at Capitol Records, in September 1971. This duet song and recording is their tribute to Glen Campbell.  Frank Sanchez was the original bass player for Weird Al Yankovic... Brad was featured performing Gerald Wilson's Sonata for Guitar and Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl, with the composer conducting. Brad has ten albums as The Candlelight Guitarist. When not making music, Brad is often out hiking with his four dogs. Swinging Shepherd Blues is a well-known tune by Moe Koffman, originally titled Blues a la Canadiana and renamed Swinging (or 'Swingin') Shepherd Blues in l957 when it was recorded by the composer, playing the flute, for the LP Hot and Cool Sax. . Released as a single (Jubilee 5311), it was a hit internationally (Billboard magazine recorded it as peaking at 23rd position in 1958). Among more than 300 recordings of the tune are versions by Count Basie, Herbie Mann, Mantovani, and David Rose. A vocal rendition, with lyrics by Rhoda Roberts and Kenny Jacobson, has been recorded by Ella Fitzgerald, and more recently by Natalie Cole. The tune has been recorded by various Canadians, from Oscar Peterson to the Edmonton Youth Orchestra. Koffman used Swinging Shepherd Blues as his signature tune until 2000.
