She holds a B.Mus in Music Theory from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, where she studied piano under Michele Cooker and Louis Nagel; she also studied composition with Bright Sheng and basso continuo/harpsichord accompaniment with Edward Parmentier. In 2006 and 2007, Nicole appeared as a concerto soloist with the Ambassador Chamber Players, featuring works of J. S. Bach and Mozart alongside two performances of her own Piano Trio in C minor. Following her graduation from Michigan, Nicole completed an MM in Music Theory from Indiana University-Bloomington, where she has recently become a PhD candidate in the same field; her dissertation research will explore relationships between selected early partimenti (instructional sketches used by Italian composition teachers) and George Frideric Handel’s compositional techniques. Currently, Nicole is a sought-after private instructor of piano, music theory, and composition on the IU campus, where she is also an active mostly-vocal accompanist. Nicole continues to enjoy musical partnerships with students of nearly every current IU voice department faculty member (and she unashamedly absorbs and borrows teaching/coaching/performing tips from all these professors). In addition, she has taken French and German diction courses with Prof. Gary Arvin. Notable recent engagements include the 2016 National Society of Arts and Letters Vocal Competition (multiple entrants); the Opera Night at North benefit concert with students of IU's top-ranked opera program (among them Accidental Tenor Andrew Lunsford); and two long-term cruise ship performing contracts with violinist Amy Schlicher as the Duo del Mare.When not working on one of her many concurrent musical projects, Nicole might be found maintaining The Collaborative Pianists’ Community on Facebook, cuddling the nearest dog, looking for opportunities to maintain her Spanish and Italian language skills, and raising and releasing monarch butterflies. They kept everyone in line and communicated orders from military leadership. Most were very young and many accounts speak to their shortness as an assett on the battle field (bullets fired tended to go higher). This piece is also part of a longer collection of works connection the final year of Abraham Lincoln’s life (and a call to one of his children by using the name Tad - not that Tad was a drummer during the war).Movement 1, Campfire Tales with the Men, sets up an imiganary tale of the drummer entertaining soldiers hanging around a campfire. Movement 2, They Shot the Fife Player (RIP Fancy Billy), reflects on the realities of war and losing friends. Movement 3, 3. Betallion Joy with Salty Sixteenths (the Almost Crazy Army), imagines the interplay between a drummer with the tree line on an open battlefield - with tons of echoes and having the drums interactive with those delayed performances.

The bass clef parts are mostly malleted, but the trebles will need to switch bells every 10 measures.It's a very short piece, coming in at just over one minute long, but it is very familiar and nostalgic, sure to be a favorite among both ringers and audiences. This volume of the songs of Scottish poet Robert Burns contains 85 songs excerpted from the chapter Country Life in a larger collection of 324 Burns songs compiled and researched by Serge Hovey. It includes songs portraying farmers, shepherds, millers, weavers, tinkers, colliers, coopers, shoemakers, tailors, and other country folk reflecting Burns's intense love of the Scottish countryside and the oral tradition and music of its people. Robert Burns (1759-1796) spent his life collecting Scottish songs, using fragments of existing lyrics as the basis for his own poems, and wrote original lyrics for traditional melodies. Burns left for posterity about 270 poems and more than 300 songs which are usually printed without their tunes. Serge Hovey meticulously examined Burns' own sources, letters, and manuscripts to determine the origin of every tune and all the verses as well as Burns' intended match of words and music. He then arranged each song with highly imaginative and beautiful accompaniments geared for pianists with average skills.

Over the years, it has had many adaptations. The ballad was inspired by a Chihuahuense woman who joined the Maderista movement in the early stages of the revolution and fell in love with Madero. The figure of the adelita gradually became synonymous with the term soldadera, the woman in a military-support (and sometimes fighting) role, who became a vital force in the revolutionary efforts through provisioning, espionage, and other activities in the battles against Mexican federal government forces.[1] However, the song, the portrait, and the role of its subject have been given different, often conflicting, interpretations. It has also been argued that 'La Adelita' expressed the sensitivity and vulnerability of men, emphasizing the stoicism of the rebellious male soldier as he confronts the prospect of death.[2] In another interpretation, the feminist scholar MarÃa Herrara-Sobek argues, Adelita's bravery and revolutionary spirit are lost to the fatalism and insecurities of male soldiers who are focused on passions, love, and desire as they face combat.[2]
